    The funny thing is that neither of them are worth my or anyone else time if they aren't THE ONE METHOD to use.

    A lot of bar code readers can recognise and interpret multiple codes. Mow MS will probably try to limit this, but a well recognised barcode is probably quite useful even if it is not the one and only

    That's so untrue. There are plenty of opportunities in Hydrabad and Beijing.

    Think of them as being a tool to weed out the people too stupid to lie to the test.

    Depending on the field that can be a good or bad thing. I knew a salesman who became religious (some type of Judaism) and swore not to lie and lost a third of his bonus per year. All the customers loved him, but if they asked him which products were better value than brand X he would not say "all of them" but give them a list!

    Remember the days where you could walk into a place and hand them the help wanted sign in the window, and after a few questions, you were hired?

    They still exist except for the sign in the window. In Europe follow the Poles and Pakistanis and in the USA follow the Hispanics. You won't make minimum wage but it will be cash with no questions asked.

    My wife used Kelly Services in the UK, and while they were clearly working for themselves rather than "for you" or "for the employer" they were smart and professional enough to know that it was in their interest to keep both happy. After the initial interview she did not have to go to their offices either.

    The only gripe I have heard is that their "recruitment" fee if a company wants to take a temp worker as one of their full time staff is quite high, so that some companies will look elsewhere when a permanent position comes up rather than look at Kelly staff.

    It's not dumping if the competition (Linux) is free.

    Is that true? I could grow my own flour, bake my own bread and brew my own beer (not quite free but at a fraction of the cost), but companies selling at the cost of ingredients would be dumping.

    Isn't there some sort of responsibility to the shareholders and minimum due care in running a company. I mean we all know that it is a Microsoft funded whip to spread FUD against Linux rather than a real business, but surely they must be breaking some law.

    Exactly. Its worth thinking about how much energy google could save. Say you are writing about energy use and you want to put in the saving you would get using a compact car compared to an SUV. You have seen it somewhere in the magazines (which have been printed and delivered previously using energy). You spend 15 minutes looking through them while your computer is switched on, then slowly type up the info, taking 5 minutes to double-check the figures.

    If you had googled you may have found the info in five minutes and copied and pasted the figures in one, taking another to reformat. This would have saved energy rather than costing it.
