The thing is, though-- the internet is a wonderful resource! If the school would get decent internet and allow the students to have access to it, it could be a good thing. At home, I used the internet for tons of reports; Wikipedia was one of my most frequented sites. Book reports, chemistry reports, understanding something in calculus... with the help of internet resources, I was able to get through high school and impress some people.
A lot of kids here don't even have a computer at home. Isn't that what the school's internet should be used for (a research tool for kids who can't research at home)?
Considering the speed and stability of it--yes, it's too much. Especially when you consider that the students aren't allowed to use it.
It constantly goes down, and the teachers (the few who use it) are frustrated by the filtering software (which blocks a lot of literary and science sites).
Not only that, but the schools pay far too much for internet access, at least here in Tennessee. I know my school (with less than 500 students) pays about $1,200 a month for internet access... and they lock it down as much as they can. Students aren't even supposed to be on the internet. And it's the STATE that says we have to use this internet service-- we don't have the option of using a different company.
Yes, but was it actually any good? If so, then it was probably not very cheap at all-- otherwise, why would there be slashdotters with Athlon CPUs and Radeon graphics cards?
I've gotta agree. I don't even have a 360, and I've already heard tons of good things about XBOX Live Arcade. With the promise of a new game a week, it's definitely something to look into.
The only NEWS here is that the 360 is considering bigger memory cards. We've known about the whole "new-game-a-week" thing for a while, now; there was a story about that two weeks ago on here.
Yes, because, Gates being the head of a terrible-- but successful-- corporation means that he is dysfunctional and will not be able to run a charitable foundation.
I SERIOUSLY doubt that Bill started the foundation to make more money =)
Well, I didn't factor the Wii price into that so much because, even to people who don't understand games, the Wii is not the same TYPE of gaming machine as the other two. The PS3 and 360 are directly competing with each other, and they're much more similiar.
I understand your complaints about the 360 (although everyone I know that has one is happy with it), and I agree that the Wii is pretty much promised to sell, but what makes you so sure about the PS3 before release? It could have just as many defects as the 360, and the price tag is high enough to ensure that most of the non-working kids (the ones that rely on their parents to buy stuff) won't be able to get it-- I mean, as a parent, how do you justify spending $600 on a console when another (of the same generation) costs $400 (which you thought was high enough to begin with)?
Anyways, this is nice and all, but why not bring some RPG's into this? Frogger and Galaga get really old, really fast.... at least Street Fighter will keep me occupied for a bit...
..you apparently didn't read the "Top 10 Least Influential Tech People" thing a few days ago. Now people worry about Digg and their Claria-infested members (diggers?).
Yes, actually... at least, one of them does (Windows Cluster Edition 2003, to be exact). Someone posted the OS for the computers somewhere up there in the comments =). Not surprisingly, nearly 75% of them are Linux...
I do have to admit that I'm surprised that only 2 were Windows, though. DISCLAIMER: I'm not a Windows fan.
And just so I can say it... IMAGINE A BEOWOLF CLUSTER OF THESE!
...the camps know they aren't keeping as good an eye on the campers as the campers' parents would like... so they're mad at myspace because people are finding out about this. It's about the same as a professor suing ratemyprofessors.com because the administrator found out he took smoke breaks during classes. It's not the website's fault.
One thing I couldn't tell from the article was whether this was a Mac-hardware-only copy, or if it works on intel-hardware... Any help, guys?

...and here to answer our question is... pop sensation, Britney Spears!
I know what I want for Christmas!
Because they let you make lists? LISTS?
Am I the only one here who has more trouble with Pac-Man than the rest of those games?

I consider our reliance on oil much more "evil" than our reliance on electronics. PDA's aren't killing the earth quite as fast as cars are ^_^
I suppose you, for one, will NOT be happily supporting them.
It can, in fact, run Linux.

Sir, I don't know whether to mod you "funny" or "insightful".
Nope, that's her job. I cook.

Anyone else think that I should be an editor?
What I want to know is this-- is Gundotra gonna get paid for the year that he's outta work?
