I'm actually a huge anime fan. And I'm a big dork about it. And I do throw in random Japanese words in conversation (mostly with other anime geeks). I never insult someone with the intent of making them feel bad.
My name actually came from a flash animation someone made of me on a forum (my name is Donnie). But yeah, sorry that I didn't make it clear that I wasn't trying to offend you.
And yes, I realize this is offtopic. Mods, mod me down.
Just in case someone doesn't know, "nani" is Japanese for "what".
And no, your pen15 will never get larger. You're a slashdotter who throws Japanese into sentences at random. It's not even going to matter. Get used to it.
The point is, though, that it SHOULD work perfectly (or nearly perfectly). This is not something that came with the software we purchased origionally-- we HAVE to get it to get our software patched, though. That's simply unfair, ESPECIALLY if it doesn't work correctly and screws some innoccent people up.
I agree with you that it sucks, though...but not that we shouldn't attack the implementation of it. 1) It shouldn't exist 2) It doesn't work right. 1 + 2 = We should bitch.
I think they're forgetting something big in this report-- Most videos on myspace are not HOSTED by myspace (As a matter of fact, a lot of the--probably most I've seen-- were youtube). Also, most videos put on a myspace page are PLAYED each time someone visits the page, and I (unfortunately) know several people with SEVERAL videos on their page (one girl in particular with 5 videos).
So these statistics are kind of BS...I'd be much more interested in seeing how many slashdotters have a myspace account.
One thing: Do you realize that the president can get a warrant for wiretapping up to three days AFTER the target has been tapped? What do you think the pros of warrantless wiretapping would be? The only warrants that the judges would deny would be the incredibly ridiculous ones.
They've been at "holy war against non-muslims" for the last few hundred years.
And the other religious terrorist groups out there are "at holy war against non-Christians", etc.
And yeah, in a dictatorship, the leader wouldn't have to go through the courts.... but wait, aren't dictators evil? Didn't we just go to war to overthrow a dictatorship and allow the Iraqi people to experience the wonders of democracy?
Why do you think we even have the Judicial branch, anyways?
Was Timothy McVeigh a Muslim extremist? You'd probably be surprised to know that MOST terrorist organizations in the world are NOT Muslim extremist organizations.
Even if they were mostly muslim extremists, though, we'd be ignorant to think that those were the only ones.
Besides, if the president wants to fucking wiretap someone, he needs to get a warrant. He can have a hush order put on it if he wants, but I don't like him being able to do anything he wants without consent of a judge.
It's not that this single act worries us so much-- it's that they're going to slowly take our liberties away.
This is just one more step in the wrong direction.
Oh, and just in case you didn't realize, the president isn't supposed to have absolute power. We've got this little thing called checks and balances-- he's the head of the executive branch, not a king.
I've got a couple of Maxtors (160gb SATAII's) running in my desktop that like to run at 55+ degrees celcius....without me even doing anything. No programs running, I'm sure there's no spyware accessing the drives, and hell, it's not even connected to the internet. I wonder if we've got some out of the same batch? I've moved the drives away from each other, installed 4 more 80mm case fans (2 that push 34 cfm and 2 that push 36) to complement my 120mm rear fan and 80mm side intake fan. All that managed to make them go from about 65+ degrees to around 58 degrees (celcius, again)... after only about an hour and a half of sitting at the desktop.
The airflow is good, the case isn't crowded... it HAS to be the drives. Anyone else had this problem?
I live in Tennessee, not too far from Oak Ridge (45 mins away). Most kids don't even know that there are labs there. The teachers don't mention them in school, and nobody cares.
Honestly, there's not much in Tennessee that's special (I've lived here for all 18 years of my life), so I wish they'd actually TELL us about the awesome stuff we _DO_ have near us.
I assume that you're wanting to know what the courts would say if someone was charged by the RIAA for "stealing" music that they already owned.
Honestly, I think that the RIAA would try to put a some spin on it (like that you're not allowed to use backups from another person's license or some shit). I don't think this would stop them.
Anyways, to answer the rest of your question: I'd guess you'd need the reciept; how else are they to know that you're the one who bought the cassette or that you didn't buy it after you were charged?
I'm a soon-to-be college student (very soon-- next week), and I wanted to buy some good webcams for my girlfriend and I to be able to see each other with.
I looked around at some programs to determine which would be the best (I did, after all, just spend $130 on the cameras). I really wanted to like Skype, but the video didn't seem to go very smoothly and the quality wasn't so great. Also, it didn't show the full range of my camera (it cut off the edges on the sides), which produced a "zoomed in" picture. Yahoo Messenger just sucked, period, and I refused to use AOL because it wants to install other crap with it. I've also never liked the look of it. I was cursing Google for not including a video-chat function with Gtalk (which is by FAR my favorite messenger. Nice, sleek, and not annoying).
As much as it pains me to say this, I chose Microsoft's chat solution. Windows Live Messenger has the best, smoothest, highest-quality picture of any of the programs I tried. The audio also synced up nicely with it. I say MSN all the way.
There are plenty of games with fast-action that work well over the internet (Counterstrike:Source comes to mind). Yes, them getting out of sync could be a problem, but it is in anything, is it not?

I was ready to go on a rant :_( Oh well.
For everything else, there's...oh, never mind.
YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT USENET.
Hard drive -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_drive
And if memory serves correctly, the PSP uses some form of flash memory, although I could definately be wrong on that one.
John Stewart said this when he was on CNN's Crossfire a few years back. Great stuff. Really informative, too.
We all know nuclear powered furbies are a good idea.

I'm moving to Europe.

You joke, but it makes me sick to see how many of my friends are introduced to Youtube, and the first thing they search for is porn-related.
Now I'm scared for the Mozilla developers. Thanks for making me lose sleep, guys.
I like Yoshi and all, but his character SUCKED on the origional Super Smash Bros. I'm not gonna ask them to bring him back, that's for sure.
Can I get a -1, Flamebait on the parent?

Perhaps they were afraid the issue would make it to major media stations and then people would realize how anal the RIAA is?
I now think that the next Super Smash Brothers will be more successful than Halo 3.
