I'd almost bet that it is more efficient than its competitors-- it uses cartridges instead of cd's, so it wouldn't have to spin a cd drive all the time. I'd say the power save from that would be pretty noticable.
Odd... the only time I've ever gotten mail from myspace is when it's something like "X invites you to create a myspace", where X is a real-life friend of mine that clicked some "invite your friends" button. Nothing wrong with that...
But I have 4 email addresses, 3 of which I use pretty often... hell, I even sign up for things on one of them... and I've never gotten spam from myspace, and never until today have I heard of it happening to anyone.
Other than the "it's cool, look what I can do!" factor, why would anyone do this? PPC Macs are much more expensive than Intel Macs, so why would you even WANT this on a PPC Mac? Hell, I'd be proud if my PPC Mac *couldn't* run Windows =)
Well, this makes me want to cancel my Verizon serice. Seriously.
Seriously, this is just gonna cause a lot of trouble- Now, kids aren't gonna take their cell phones with them when they're going to do something stupid. Somebody gets hurt, nobody's gonna have a phone to call for help. Way to go, Verizon.
Oh well, I've been wanting to change services for a while now. The iN network is great, but it's the only reason to have Verizon service (instead of Sprint or something else). They cripple their phones like hell to keep you from uploading your own sounds as ringtones and stuff, now.
...why they have to install a piece of software to determine whether your copy of Windows is legit or not. Why not just run a check online when you're doing updates? There's GOTTA be more to this...
Google making firefox extensions? Maybe I'm retarded, but this is the first I've seen.
Anyways, this seems like a good idea, especially people who have several homes or places they browse the net. Also a good way to backup my favorites. Any clue how much slower this'll make Firefox?
No offense, but the Sempron is craptacular no matter how you look at it. Does it beat any of Intels newer P4's? I don't think the issue here is the processor-- your dad's XPS must be a spyware zombie or something (any XPS machines I've seen were pretty good machines...this could have changed in the last several months, though).
I'm not saying that you've not got a good box-- hell, you can probably do anything you want on it-- I'm just saying that I don't see the Sempron beating strong P4's at all.
Disclaimer: The only machine I have is an Athlon64 3500+ and I absolutely love it.
So, in your "family record store", you kicked some kid out and called him a "bitch"?
Besides-- record sales are up. Maybe you're just not carrying the types of CD's that people want to buy? Yes, people pirate all types of music, but I'm willing to bet that hip hop/rap/rock gets pirated much more than Christian music....so I don't think pirates are completely to blame for your misfortune.
Also, your whole story sounds like a lie. I could be wrong, but it just does.
Bah. I'm an avid chess fan, and I (being a slashdotter and all) love technology. "Realistic" chess games SUCK. 3d chess games SUCK. Everything is much better with a 2D board or, better yet, in real life.
Weren't we JOKING about them making Halo 3 Vista-only to boost sales? Now they're gonna do this with freaking Halo 2? I don't even like the Halo series, but I see no reason that it wouldn't be able to run on XP, other than the fact that M$ wants to improve sales of Vista.
Dammit, Microsoft must be reading Slashdot... Stop giving them ideas, guys!
I dunno about power consumption (My box is 420w... 2gb of DDR-400 ram, Athlon64 3500+, 2 160gb SATA-2 HDD, 2 16xDVD burners. I'd say that I could throw in quite a bit more before I got up to 420w, but I can't say for sure.
If your box can handle it, though-- the 7900GT is a great card. This 7950GX2 is basically just 2 7900GT's in one board, from what I understand.
In the last several iterations of Office, I've seen nothing different in Word (besides some stuff being moved around). I'm not particularly interested in a program that will help me blog (or even myself blogging at all), but it's cool that they're actually thinking of things.
The part that concerns me, as an incoming college freshman, is that it says "any gov't funded school", which could mean universities. That'd be a pain in the ass.
Doubtful-- I checked the reviews on Newegg to see what people were saying, and everyone seems to be able to overclock it quite a bit without extra cooling.
Vice City and San Andreas were technically part of the GTA 3 franchise-- they used the same engine. I've not really been a fan of GTA since I got burned out on GTA 3 (The origional), but I'm excited about this-- this means it'll be a whole new game, unlike San Andreas and Vice City, which were basically the same with different storylines and some new features.

Actually, it's a pretty interesting article. I'm impressed.

...it's the same with every generation of consoles. PS2 was pretty competetive with PC's when it came out, too. Same with any other system.

Dear Lord! You're old!

I didn't see the part where you changed it from a game to a movie... or do you just play a lot of Final Fantasy?

Somebody's just got a grudge against this "Anonymous Coward" guy. Can't blame 'em. I've seen this guy posting all sorts of off-topic crap and spam.
It depends no whether or not he plays with the Wii.
Why not? People have been buying $500 cards for years.

No, I believe that DNF is slated to be released on Windows Apology, Microsoft's next OS after Vista.

Wow, that's actually pretty amazing, considering that the thing is supposed to operate at 2.66ghz. WOW. I think I'm buying one.
