The web stack needs a rewrite. Maybe a protocol and 'markup' language that aren't designed for documents. Furthermore, they keep trying to address developers needs by adding new communications features, but it would really be nice to just have udp for christ's sake. Perhaps they need to create a couple transport level protocols that address the security concerns keeping them from giving scripts access to udp/tcp.

I'll add that it isn't so much that they are "anal" or obsessed with detail. That's a means to an end only. The root of it is something harder to define that I call "playing the hostile audience". As in, they don't like what you said and that bothers them, especially if it really is the truth and the facts back it up so they can't just easily contradict it. So now they've got to justify their disdain and they do that by finding something wrong, however trivial, and playing that up as much as they can.

This is 90% of rhetoric. +1 Insightful.

I dunno man. DS games may be one thing (and from what I read, all the game requires is tapping? If you can't tap a stylus with your off hand, you could use a little ambidexterity training!), but try writing on the front side of paper in a 3-ring binder or spiral bound notebook! That is a real pain in the ass (especially considering the number of teachers who specified exactly what type of paper-holding device to use).

    Society+:
    1) Open surveillance in public areas
    2) No organized enforcement against unorganized crime:
Obviously you and I can't keep down the mob, but if a camera were around, I could track down that meth head who took my bike wheel and get it back! Same thing goes for any other interpersonal crime, as well as crimes involving reckless endangerment (i.e., if you drive drunk, the community will know).
