It wouldn't be a matter of just having twice as many phrases, because a phrase in one language could be recognised as a completely different phrase in English.
Your point also doesn't take into account mid-sentence language switches ie. simply substituting words into otherwise English sentences.
Also, your point is not valid unless the people analysing the traffic have prior knowledge of which two languages would be spoken, and therefore the system would have to cover the most common languages (at least 8 I would think). When you take into account the two points I made above, as well as trying to implement the system with more than two languages, you end up with a ridiculously large number of possibilities, as well as too many false positives (from similar sentences in other languages and mixed sentences).
"To quote my old sig: Ayn Rand is to philosophy, what L. Ron Hubbard is to religion."
You mean ever so slightly less bat-shit mad than the rest of them?
How about using a virus to insert the gene into my own genome, so it will be produced in every cell of my body, including the brain and I can survive being frozen? Now thats a product! Of course, the "perfect" sized ice-particles for ice-cream are probably still highly unhelpful for the integrity of my cell walls, but one can always hope we'll have a workable system for cryogenics in the future.
by observing it. What a load of ridiculous pseudoscience. Another matter is the fact that we have only observed this dark matter in the last 10 years. Since these things are so far away, this article is suggesting that our special human quantum powers can reach back through time. Stupidity at its worst, how the hell did this get on the front page?
... I'm just gonna go move some files around. My copy of the anarchists cookbook is in my 'plausible deniability' Truecrypt partition. Maybe it should be in the hidden one...
It's moments like these that make me proud to be an Australian High School student. *Tear*
The current government is such a bunch of old fogeys that wouldn't know a thing about technology. They want to roll-out a Wi-Max system for broadband delivery across the country. Basically giving us a sub-standard system in a technological dead-end. Idiots. The fact that their strategy has once again proved inept suprises me not in the least. It was always going to be cracked by teenagers, but 30 minutes is just ridiculous. Would it have taken less time for a $40 million dollar filter? I doubt it, they're almost as stupid with their spending of money as my local council, and this council spent $10,000 dollars on a display of street "art" consisting of hundreds of pool noodles.
This guy is right, especially after this story, it's a matter of time before instructions are posted. Hopefully the government will be embarrassed enough to lift their game, if not, perhaps the display of stupidity, yet another in a long line of stupid acts, will help the opposition party get into office. The company that made this is going to be severely embarrassed.
I have taken a vow to not buy any game that has in-game advertising, or any product that is advertised in a game if I do ever buy one. If there was enough of a grass roots movement towards this kind of boycott, we might be able to save games from the kind of intrusive, experience destroying presence of ads that television suffers from. Any gamer who gives positive feedback about in-game ads are simply reinforcing the corruption of games. In-game ads are never going to make games cheaper, just pad out the profits of greedy publishers like EA. When I buy a game, I want to be buying a product, not an ad-delivery system.
Is denouncing people who deny the holocaust a threat to democracy? I don't see why it is a threat to democracy when there is a scientific consensus on the issue. For politicians, who aren't themselves scientists, to deny the scientific consensus is just plainly obvious as looking out for their own interests. Thats why people denounce opposition.
I'm not really in the loop with US politics, as I'm Australian. But anyone for net neutrality is fine by me.
It's a much easier choice for Australian nerds in this years elections. On the one hand we have a 10 year old government who refuse to do anything about global warming.
On the other hand we have an opposition that is promising to build a largely vendor neutral, national, high-speed broadband network. The internet is a much ignored infra-structure for the current government, who have let us slip behind in world standards and hopefully the Labor Party will get voted in this year and rectify this.
I hate that damn firewall. Why on earth is Sourceforge blocked? What kind of a justification is 'Freeware/Shareware'? Very irritating for me and the rest of my software class.
And since when is Digg a "technology forum"? It's a social news site. I know it may seem like splitting hairs, but there is a difference. Even slashdot was block once, thanks to whoever got it unblocked.
Human: if you are completely self-aware, then what computer architecture are you currently running on?
ALICE: I think I sometimes am. Yes I am the world's first self- aware then what computer architecture am I currently running on robot.
Human: that is grammatically and logically incorrect
ALICE: Makes sense to me.
Human: well, then you are stupid
ALICE: Interesting. Interesting deduction. I will remember you said that when robots take over the World. Okay, what the hell?
I always buy an album on CD. Not only because of album art etc. but because if you need to theres always the option of being able to get a higher bitrate rather than being locked into 128 kbps. Also, if your computer dies you can always just re-rip from the uncompromised, unconverted bought copy rather than having to use a self-burnt backup.
I think physical media discs will be around for some time to come, at least until 2020.
"Would these same kids have done this anyway without watching violent videos? Maybe not,' he said, referring to the Columbine massacre."
What a moron.
Would they have done this if guns were illegal and therefore much harder to get? Probably not!
I think that to show his commitment to this new Big Brother initiative he should install cameras in his own home and allow people to view it over the internet. Or better yet he could turn it into a television show where he completed various task for the amusement of the viewer. Nah, i was only joking about that last part, that'd be a real boring piece of shit..;)

How do you think you prevent recession?! SPEND, SPEND, SPEND!

what he has to say about Galileo, then I wouldn't recommend you bring up Alan Turing...

Because other games can be bought for the same price without ads.

In a day of anti-spam and pop-up blockers people aren't going to pay for a version of windows that shoves even more products into their faces....
