If you want people to switch to Scheme, explain why they should and how it would benefit them, don't just say "lol ur language is teh sux, use mine". That's exactly the kind of stupid shit that gives Lisp users a reputation as a bunch of arrogant assholes.
And yes, Scheme is a great language, and I love it, but it's not the best thing for every situation. If you truly think one language is the best choice for everything, then you're a total idiot.
Also, no even slightly popular browser supports client side scripting with Scheme, and most web hosts don't offer server-side scripting with it either.
They don't give you a choice as to whether or not you stick it in, only how long to delay it for. (Though they generally will give you a choice as to whose to stick it into, and occasionally a choice as to where to stick it in)
The DB doesn't know or care about the source. If you use concatenation and improperly escaped strings, something like
foo'; DROP TABLE users; --
will have the same effect no matter whether it's in the comment field or some other field. You should *always* use paramaterized queries. If your language doesn't have those, use the string escape function. If it doesn't have *that*, then you're fucked.
Damn, beat me to it. I particularly like the programming section. Here's one of my favorites:
One thing that many will run into in the computer industry, is employers who are rather clueless and yet don't necessarily realize this. In 1996, a friend told me about a boss he had that needed a C program written for him. After a week, the boss complained that the program wasn't done, and he asked my friend what was taking so long.
Friend: "The program is written, and I'm debugging it."
Boss: "What's wrong with you people? You make programming more
difficult than it needs to be. I have Frontpage Express to write
web pages with, and when I write code with it, I never need to debug
it. If you were as good of a programmer as me, you'd never need to
debug either."
I love Ubuntu; in fact, I use it exclusively on my PC, and have for over a year now. And while it'd be nice to see Ubuntu take over the OS market, I don't think TWO FUCKING PEOPLE switching over from OS X means it's going to happen any time soon.
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK! FUCK YOU FUCKING MICROSOFT FUCKERS! ROT IN HELL YOU CHEAP IMITATION HACKS WHO COULDN'T PROGRAM YOURSELVES OUT OF A FUCKING BOX!
They can, but their definition of a box is different from everyone else's.
(And in addition to shitty CSS support, we get shitty XHTML support too! IE7, unfortunately, is looking to be about as much of an upgrade to IE6 as Vista is to XP.)
We may be good at making things go boom, but galaxies are very big things, and it'll be a very long time before we can make anything that'd have any sort of significant effect on them.
Yeah! We can all pirate again! We could pirate anyways. Bittorrent isn't the only protocol out there, and TPB isn't the only tracker.
We can all freely download all those shows and movies and music and software produced by the companies represented by the RIAA and MPAA and BSA! None of the stuff I pirate is produced by companies represented by the RIAA, MPAA, or BSA. There *is* other content out there, you know.
We can continue this amazing paradox in which we bash the quality of their product while we spend exorbinent amounts of time and energy figuring out ways to get it quickly and freely! You think it takes any significant amount of effort?

My mom occasionally brought me fast food, and made damn good sandwiches.

I think I deleted slashdot.
No. However, they *were* expecting you.
I've been meaning to get around to watching Excel Saga (along with a few other series), but I haven't had the time.

Just because you're not a kid anymore doesn't mean you shouldn't have fun either.
Best comment I've seen all day.

What about your post?
That's why. Where's the fun in using something the way it was intended?

Agreed. Everyone knows ninjas are superior.
Which is why I suggest you use brainfuck for all your coding needs. The generated code will make just as much sense as the original, if not more.

And I most definitely haven't downloaded over 10 GB of files on bittorrent this month alone.
What?! But I thought most slashdotters were against DRM!
HTML is a markup language; CSS is a stylesheet language. Neither is a programming language.
If you oppose this data retention, you must hate children. You don't hate children, do you?
Yes, I do, but that's not why I'm against this.

I don't actually toast anything, but that'd be pretty damn nifty.
We're slashdotters; we can't get women either way and we think terrorism is just another evil government plot, so we're free to use ODF.
