The ones that blare irritating advertising at me will be last on the list.
Unfortunately, most people ARE influenced by blaring advertising. While getting the lesser-advertised brands may be correct, the few of us that do this have no impact on these companies' profits. We can't do squat to stop it. Ironic that the captcha is "despair."
I seem to remember reading something like this once... CS students would design programs that would fight within a controlled server. The robotour and droidbattles games for Linux are based on this idea.
I'm sure you can play.mov files if you just spend a day or so reasearching what's available that passes ideological requirements, and then download it, build it, debug it, configure it for your GPU...
Well, that's life with Linux.
I realize you're joking, but it's really not that bad. I use Linux and went to the website. The movies came up in KMplayer embedded on the pages.
Who the heck is going to shell out $300 bux for an OS on a $300 PC?
Most consumers, that's who. They'll buy whatever the salesman suggests. In addition, they're not likely to buy Windows CDs because Windows will come preinstalled on their $300 PCs.
The Thinkpad should have fairly standard hardware, was a bit strange to see it crash that ugly as I never had any problems with any of the Ubuntu LiveCDs.
No problems on my Thinkpad A30. It's a bit on the older side, so it's slowly breaking, but all problems have been with broken hardware, not software.
...I am willing to tolerate Konqueror's relative slowness at loading web pages. Who's going to negotiate those differences?
Really? I find Konqueror (in KDE 3.5) to be faster than Firefox. This is in spite of the fact that I only have a few Firefox extensions: AdBlock and the Download manager Tweak.
i've had few problems using madwifi or atheros drivers and wpa_supplicant with my dlink pcmcia card, but i've been staying away from usb wifi adapters for exactly the reasons you stated
an alternative to firefox... the browser wars are in full swing. i too use konqueror now, the thing that made the switch for me was adblock now being in konqueror. adblock had been the item keeping me in firefox. i fully support the war amongst browsers as it has already demonstrably resulted in better features all around.

Isn't QT4 GPL?
Bad drivers will crash both software and hardware.

or news.
Warning: your link to www.slashdot.org goes to a domain squatter. The proper URL is here. There is no "www."
What is the EU going to do about this little pink guy?
He'll just keep recycling and recycling and recycling and...
Nothing to see there. Moving right along...
Am I the only one who finds this phrase particularly appropriate here?

W00t! AdBlock for IE!
(Yes, I know there's plenty of ad-blocking software for IE)

Konqueror for KDE 3.5 has a great adblock feature. Hopefully this will be sent to Safari since AFAIK they share a similar codebase.
BluBrick, would you come back here for a minute please?
Do you see that up there?
What do you mean "where"? In your post... right there, in the sarcasm. Yes, that's it right there!
That, m'Brick, is what is known as "Humor". It seems you missed it entirely.
Really, such humor seems to be underappreciated these days.
you misspelled speech, learning, and overrated... are you one of those children in the study?
also, isn't water self-ionizing?
the fact that this has been modded funny really scares me
no problem now; bank one/chase works great with firefox
No. Mauve has the most ram.
yes, it is normal. that's the scary bit.
... with a single digit!
with a score of 1, yes, you do. nobody likes you :)
not free? so you've never heard of fedora core?
plus, when you buy rhel, you buy service, too, not just a product.
