    That's great but it doesn't change the fact that out of ~250 people I talk to online, only 3 use something other than AOL IM. So let me know when this convinces everyone of those people to switch. NOBODY I have ever met in person has ever had anything other than AOL IM.

    I live in East Lansing and Ann Arbor, Michigan.

    I especially liked the inability to log onto AIM via your main account feature they packaged with the unimportant accounts connected to AIM fine feature. Now of course they've replaced both with the ever popular everyone's been online for at least 108 days feature.

    What's different is that Google can bring this to Joe User and spread it widely and quickly. Linux fanboys like those that are so common here are horrible in terms of getting people to switch. Google's marketing machine could do it.

    Ben's Bargains had them for ~$750 a month or two ago but it was the end of the quarter and Dell needed some business.

    If you have a service contract and they raise the rates, your rates do not go up.


    I would love to live in this magical world. It is VERY normal for cable companies to raise the rates of customers who are on contract and this is allowed within the contract. Don't like it? Then no TV for you.

    You're right. Nobody else I know uses one nor has ever needed one.

    I must be that 1% though. I've fried several motherboards (two in the same day that were the same kind (thanks Newegg for replacing them!)) as well as a video card and some other random parts, just by touching them without a strap.

    So I won't give you grief if you don't use one, but please don't make fun of me when I do.

    Looks to me like Google functions flawlessly in this case. If a person can't be bothered to type dodge when it's a Dodge Ram they're looking for that sounds to me like PEBKAC. That would be like going to any of the mapping web sites and typing in your street name without city or state. Just dumb. Names get reused, deal with it, be specific.

    Regarding Tmobile, which I use...

    I bought a Motorola A630 on Amazon when I decided to port my number over to Tmobile. The cost with activation was $125 and on top of that was a $150 mail in rebate which came promptly, bringing the total price down to $-25.

    At the time, the exact same phone with activation at the Tmobile store was $300, more than double the Amazon price before the rebate!

    Can anyone explain to me why this happens?
