I am allowed to have a backup. Besides what you are saying in tracking usage is suppose to be illegal. I am tempted to start downloading BS songs so they will come after me. When they do, I will have a liscensed copy, shove it in their face and then sue for slander and wrongful accusation. Then they will be paying me. And no, if I do this I am not dumb enough to share it, so just bootle cap that lame come back. You have got to learn the system and use it. That is what they do. I would wager most of us on /. here are smart enough to work them over.

The reason the doctors' are suing is this: true, you do have free speech, but you have to be responsible with it. If you slander (I guess in this case it would be libel) someone, they have the right to sue you. You would need to have disclaimers galour on the web-sites and all sorts of legal rhetoric to protect your backside. Case in point is the site bestbuysux.org. He has been sued a couple of times and has had to reorganize content and post disclaimers.

As long as you act responsiblly and have your backside covered you're good. If you make you make everything look legit but it is really just a flame page because you don't like someone's bedside manner; well, someone with their career on the line may just come after you.

You can clearly start to argue that things like intelligent life further along than us probably is false due to a time factor, not to mention the earth should not be possible because you have not had enough stars go supernova to create all the heavier elements required. I remember growing up and people postulating that the universe was trillion of years old, like 2.4 trillion. We see that this was false, but that amount of time is necessary for Big Bang and evolution to work as postulated. The question is what is really true and what is the cosmology make-up? Evolution is not possible because the Earth should not exist, yet it does. I like how people love Einstein but seem to forget the words of wisdom he had.

Another interesting thing to note was an article post on slashdot talking about security on Linux vs XP. The final conclusion, minus fanboy flame was that they are both pretty equal now. The constant barrage at XP has made it as secure as Linux. After all, when was the last time you heard people specifically developing viruses exploiting Linux's weaknesses. The porblem with the death penalty is that it is hardly ever enforce, ergo there is no cited work on deterrent. You can not have a paper and have facts on something that is not happening, until you do research into Middle East Penal Codes. They do not have nearly the crime rate, but tend to have other problems with abusive executive branches. The problem with most laws and penalties is a lack of enforcement across the board. Instead of enforcing current policy, somebody comes up with something more extreme, being reactionary instead of being proactive. This is a large issue in the US, where everything is someone elses fault and few will take responsibility for their actions. The issue isn't really death penalty as a deterrant, but lack of ownership and enforcement.
