That's a good tip. Not all devices support it, though. But I never have switch it back to auto. I use 3G on Verizon, where I get four bars and 2.5 Mbps on my boat moored at Catalina Island, 26 miles off the coast of Los Angeles. With Verizon, you can pretty much fix it to 3G-only and never have a problem, except in parts of West Texas.
I wonder sometimes whether the difference is that Verizon uses CDMA, or that Verizon just has way more towers than the other carriers.
The observations led to the theory. Not only must your alternative theory explain the observations as well as the Big Bang theory does, it must also explain why the Big Bang theory appeared to explain the observations, even though it was incorrect. So you're wrong: it is all about the observations. It's always about the observations.
Why some people are so violently opposed to using simple economics to keep a few users from adversely affecting everyone else's user experience is beyond me.
Because the carrier did not disclose that crap up front, but advertised "unlimited" internet access. And because the carrier has not actually presented any evidence that the 3% are adversely affecting anything. And because the carrier's money-grabbing tactics in the past have naturally increased skepticism of the carrier's claims in this matter.
The Big Bang theory is based on the observations. To critique it, you must attack the reliability of the observations. Vague hand waving about philosophical doubts gets you nowhere. That's for church, not science.
To the extent that the observations and estimations of the galaxy's ages are accurate, yes it was enough time. Now they want to figure out how they formed more quickly than expected. If there is no reason to suspect that the observations and estimations are not accurate enough to rely on, then it must be our expectations of the time required for galaxy formation that is in need of revision.
You do realize that some of the emails are about hiding data from public view, obstructing freedom of information requests, and campaign to discredit a peer reviewed journal that published something that disagreed with their public stance, right?
You realize the previous administration did all that and more in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq, and it drew far less criticism than this?
Americans don't deserve a free, open, democratic republic, nor do they want one. They want more than anything else to fall to their knees at the feet of authority, miracle and mystery. The American experiment has failed, and everyone is doing everything they can to cover up that fact, or to avoid having to admit it.
Happened to me a couple of times. They try to hard to discourage you from using your data plan (twice the price for buying songs with the phone, rather than with the PC; piping IM into SMS so you need a text messaging plan to IM, etc etc etc). So I cancelled mine, and told them they make it too difficult to actually use it. The 0.2kb charges showed up afterwards, so I called them to bitch, and they removed the charges. I also told them to put a data block on my account so my phone can never use the pay-as-you go data service. Problem solved. If everybody did it, it would cost them a lot of money handling the service requests, and they'd stop doing this.
The only reason this is a problem (for those of us who care) is because people pay their bills automatically and don't even know they are being charged for nothing.
This three percent is one helluava mighty pirating engine ain't it? According to Microsoft, it's this three percent that's been the cause of the falling profits all this time. Now that they have been eliminated from being able to purchase stuff from Live... er.... I mean, uh.... now that they've been ejected.... No....
Can we just jump to the "Profit" step now, quick-like?
'Chrome Frame will end in growing fragmentation and loss of control for most of us, including Web developers.' Baker says.
You should lose control. Web developer demands are why browsers added <center>, <font> and <blink> tags. You had your chance at control and you turned out to be horrible at it. Write to the standard and don't fucking worry about the browser!
I doubt it. ATM's talking to a system running COBOL? I doubt it. ATM's talking to a proxy running on Windows or Unix that talks to a mainframe running an app written in COBOL? That's more like it, but probably omits another intermediate step.

Space itself is a theoretical construct and gravitational waves passing through it are part of the same theory. So it is more correct to say:
"Gravitational waves, if they exist, would squash and stretch space, if it exists, as they travel, if travel is possible, through the universe, if it exists."
(The Nano's ability to show artist and song names, and its "iTunes Tagging" features, shared with some FM radio iPod docks, also use HD radio. Apple just doesn't, for whatever reason, put "HD radio" in giant flaming letters in its advertising.)
Because it doesn't support HD Radio. It supports PSD (Program Service Data), which is the datastream that both HD Radio and satellite digital radio use for broadcasting song information. The iTunes tag is included in the PSD by stations that have licensed iTunes tagging support from iBiquity.
The new iPod nano plays music received on the analog FM channel.
So, the question becomes: how should a presumably high-integrity site such as a major news outlet ensure quality when they've outsourced advertisement delivery?

Can 3D be sent over 3G? Or do I need 4G for HD3D?
kdawson's Mom must be very proud of her anencephalic offspring.
If it weren't foe slashdot he'd be totally unemployable.

May I help you with anything else?

Did you ever wonder how many English speakers think "luft" is German for "red" thanks to the English lyrics of Nena's song?
To see what it would be like to be a dinosaur.
I also like to think of Jesus as a mischievous badger.
It would also take an attitude adjustment on people's parts.
Yeah, this is the part forecasters of the future always forget to take into account.

Nonsense. Vaccines can be prophylactic, or therapeutic. You just mistakenly think the word has a narrower meaning than it actually does.

Kinda hard to beat having-cake-and-eating-it-too.
... then he'd quit law enforcement? Same logic.

Hint: Rick is totally making up the 2 cent check story.

You hit your peak at "Unlike them, I did not Think Different." It goes downhill from there, finally landing in a soggy trench full of envy.

Maybe they don't give a shit.
