The two URL's in the story the same... plus might want to use the printable URL since in FF, it pegs the CPU meter (much worse than this overly busy site)... maybe it's all that information being sent to Google?
We need the Mad Magazine Spys to weigh in on this matter... or paint a house rather than the endless argument of what exactly is responsible disclosure.
Direct quotes from Dr. Curry's article:
Men: "... bigger penises"
Women: "... pert breasts" (and presumably larger/fuller too)
I gotta wonder how valid this "research" truly is -
sounds like something
Dr. Frankenstein or Homer Simpson
would have written - D'OH!;-)
Well done ScuttleMonkey with the "Missing Link" addition.
"Review Pictures" job would get old really fast

From the article:
'Perhaps the biggest threat to MySpace is the PR fallout over safety...
Those "challenges" are being met "head on", he says, including
hiring extra staff to monitor the 4-5m photos uploaded every day'
That job has to be about as exciting as
watching grass grow
but let assume you can sustain a review rate of one picture/second.
In an 8 hour day, this is just under 30,000 pictures a day per employee.
And to handle the 4-5 million/day, you'd therefore need about 200
employees (counting vacation and holidays) doing nothing but looking
at MySpace pictures - yikes!

All lofty stuff in the article about getting "fully educated"... but in reality (as seen in the US and other places), I can envision one billion Chinese reading Slashdot, gambling online, surfing for porn, and watching paint dry
Well said, I have owned Sun stok a couple of times and did well with it. What dissppoints me is how their egos got in the way of some many opportunities to improve. They are in similar position that Apple was for so many years where they have tremendous brand equity and loyal customers but haven't been willing or able to do what it would take ot turn things around. It often takes a big ego to soldier through and be successful but it can take you down even faster if you don't shift your strategy when the game changes. I wish them the best
Good Point! I just felt that the Treo 650 was so far removed from stable that it makes Windows look good. I hope they can fix this soon but I just can't rely on what is out and plan ot go back to a simple phone very soon.
After 3 stages of support I got to a high-level support person at Verizon and he said they see far more problems with all of the combo devices than phones only. It's still just too tough to pack the combined functionality and get a reliable product. Some will work just fine but the stars really have to align.
Does this include Scott McNealy or has he hired a CHO (Chief Humility Officer) to be humble for him? Maybe I need to start following Sun again, I gave them up for dead a couple of years ago.
I hope that they haven't hopped in to the same basket that is bound for a trip over the falls. There needs to be good competition in any market to keep even the best of companies from going astray. It would be sad to see any company own this market because they are still so far away from an ideal smartphone at least IMHO
Could Palm have a strategy that is any more confusing? I hope that they have some master plan in all of this and that it doesn't leave out making their hardware (smart phones) more reliable. Mine crashes more than Windows and my friends in on his 5th one. I can't imagine how they can improve quality when working on so many platforms.
Why roll your own when you can get the pricing of mass produced processors and focus your value add on better software, interconnect and optimization? Scale it up and down. Bring on a practical desktop cluster for video rendering ang Foling @ Home!
I think that up to some grade level it will always be important to have personal contact and supervision. Don't also forget a teacher's role in socialization of our kids and facillitating respectful interactions between the kids. That would be very hard to do remotely and even harder to do from India. Many subtlies would be missed and kids wouldn't get the relationship skills they need to avoid jail anytime they have to interact in a real world scenario.
Those tech CEOs with no soul can't outsource you then. It will take at least 10 years for teachers in public schools to get outsourced and you are probably safe for the foreseeable future in grades K-6.

Where do you think the people from the record companies and particually their kids go to download music? Based on what a few friends in the industry have told me coffee shops are sort of a safehouse and this is a very common practice for the younger people in the biz. They just can't risk it at home or the officeor they will lose their job not just the $3000 settlement.

It's about $419/ mile to join a pretty exclusive club compared to $45K per mile to get into orbit. Quite a deal for the right dotcom or software billionaire looking for something unique to do next.

Her definition of invent was out there already. I can see her joining a patent holidng company and patenting countless common and inane ideas.
