why are you complaining? no one here actually buys games (see above)
WTH. If you have 0.4 servers per workstation, you're already off to a bad start.
Don't worry, you'll be fired soon enough so don't sweat it. It'll be someone else's problem.
This article is a farce. There will always be a market in content. Cost of storage will drop, archives and redundancies will become more prevalent. This article could have been written twenty years ago and instead of video being the focus, it could have been written about documents, encyclopedias, what have you.
After video, what next? Preserving a digital model of the neural cortex of brilliant minds like Einstein's? Absolutely, it will happen (assuming the technology enables it).
People generally have a tendency to save, make backups, etc. to document our history. This will not change.
"This year's democrat-controlled Congress largely ignored technological issues in favor of social problems"...
The issues facing technology, especially internet technology, absolutely qualifies as a social problem. Its the most prevalent way people connect and transact with one another. They need to understand their priorities before assigning them.
You vote everyday with your checkbook. So yes, 1 million dollars is a powerful option in terms of who and what you spend that money on. Certainly more powerful than a vote.
I'm all for non transferable tickets and buying directly from the venue's owner. Why can't this be a reality? Why do we need ticketmaster when venues could setup their own sales system? That way, if you want to go to Philips Arena to see the 'Stones you'd buy from PhilipsArena.com (or something along those lines). Go online to buy, or in person at the venue. Hence no more going down to box office locations to buy.
This way, venues can decide on their own to perfect their selling scheme to minimize scalping (ie. non transferable, or early buy tiered pricing). Scalping and ticket unattainability is a direct product of ticketmasters dated middle man system. Bottom line: the system now is broken and needs to be fixed.
Does anyone know, what, if any, implications does this have on CableCard functionality with Vista MCE? This question is on the forefront for myself; desperately want to build my own Vista HD CableCard ready machine!!!!!
Agree and disagree. Yes, there are fees involved in banks that poorer people would severely hurt their bottom line. But without the use of a bank and use of a check cashing facility you can easily avoid paying taxes on that money especially if you are being 1099'ed under a false social security number (or simply not being 1099'ed at all).
There are a lot of 'free' checking accounts out there as well -- they do hold checks but for a couple days. But I don't think that would hinder someone. Employers almost always offer direct deposit (as do payroll companies) because it is significantly less expensive than delivering a check (most times payroll checks must be overnighted or two-day secured, insured, etc.). Not to mention there is less liability once the check arrives (someone can steal that piece of paper and dupe some bank/store to cash it). That's assuming they are on payroll. Most poor are not on payroll. Lets not forget, use of a bank usually requires access to a vehicle as well.
I've always ripped lossless. I don't care how much space it takes up. My friends give me crap cause they don't like sharing large files -- even now storage for thousands of lossless wma/flac files is very affordable. It really comes down to cost of storage and cost of transmission - which in 10 years will be nada.
The only downside is that my mp3 player has little storage, I simply convert on the fly when loading it to 128kbps simply for storage (cost) reasons. My headphones are junk, 96kbps is also acceptable through walmart 16$ headphone special.
Fool. I was the team member that departed... and I'm probably making 20K more than you are now.
Spoken like a true middle manager.

Thats the funniest response I've ever read. Ahh Keanu
Agreed. The most dangerous IP that's lost when someone is fired is in their brain... Not in some computer.
Nothing funny about this thread... /. takes copyright very seriously.
You forgot to mention she also has wookie-like strength and a /. RSS feed.
Open your eyes, and look at what is going on. There is conflict in this world that you don't see, and are happy to remain blissfully unaware of.
You seem to be blissfully paraphrasing the Matrix.

Don't assume they're stupid, just assume they know nothing..
I had to reload xp to remove IE7. This is nothing new.
