  1. You have a point on On Usage of "Hacker vs. Cracker" · · Score: 1

Exactly. The term 'sailor' that you use is being used incorrectly (to my definition). A person cannot go sailing on a boat without sails, it's just that simple. But a person in the navy is called a sailor even though they probably have never been sailing in their life. This is most likey because the navy used to use the term 'sailor' as a person who works on a sailing ship. Now with the advent of internel combustion engines/nuclear power no new term has been adopted (except for maybe seaman). So real sailors, ie people who perform the task of sailing, resent their term being used improperly. Obviously 'sailor' has been around for hundreds of years meaning one thing. Now society has warped the meaning of it because of their own stupidity. This is exactly the same debate as 'Hackers vs. Crackers'. It's sad how the creators of a term can be isolated by the rest of the public and that their word's meaning is being warped beyond recognition.

Witnesses to the murder gave a description of the assailant to be a small silicon wafer, charred beyond recognition muttering the phrase "Who's the bitch now?" fallowed by large outbursts of "Muwhahahahahhahahaha". No autopsy has been performed yet, but the authorities suspect the murder weapon was actually a large quantity of toxic gases. Intel's CEO, after the press confrence, was reportedly caught by the Australian Internet Police weilding a large, death ray like, metallic device. The Australians said to have caught him zapping their army of cyborg Koalas.

why should it be illegal??? I can go buy a car and take it apart, there is no illegal activity there??? Then I could go and find all the parts and build me another car, exactly the same in every detail, to the car that I bought. Nothing illegal there!!! That is loosely what pirating music and movies is all about. Why should it be any different?? I dont mind supporting the actual artist who made the media, but the money I would pay would go straight to lining the pockets of a record company or a movie company?? (well, the movie companies do make the movies and then they distribute them so I guess that I dont mind that). Really if you break it dowm, these are just estimates, of a 15 dollar CD, $1.50 to the artist, 50c for CD and Jewel Case, $2 to the store that sells it, $5 for labour off everything. This leaves $6 for the record label, all of which would probably be profit. I have no regret pirating anything (not that I do or anything). And for this DeCSS stuff, good, I am all for it.
