It'll be a great day when software companies are held to standards like automobiles by gov't by and for the people.
I for one am tired of this breakneck innovation in this industry. The auto industry has stagnated nicely for the past 50+ years, I think a nice constant is preferred over any sort of change and advancement.
Plus once laws are passed by the US to kill the US tech edge, third world countries or maybe even China or Russia can step in and start making advances in software and run the risk of lawsuits for us!!! Hooray!
If you think lawsuits like this are good hats off to you, you're an idiot. This is a job for the marketplace. Company A makes crappy product, Company B is free to make an uncrappy product, no need to get the gov't involved here people.
You'd be surprised when you use web standards how well IE6 will render the pages.
The problem I run into a lot is NS4.x, right now I plan on using stylesheets to give NS4 users a very basic layout.
At this stage of the ballgame, it is not worth sacrificing a design edge if it works in IE6/Moz/NS7 simply because it can't be redone in a timely manner with NS4.
While I understand that statement, there is just something wrong about an electronic device having 'sex appeal'... er I mean, whatever, you get my point.
It doesn't take 8-10(more) hours to charge a battery. Doing this day in and day out will kill the battery's life. It's this that ruins the battery. Leaving it in for 2 hours is fine while using is fine.
Have you been using them while plugged into an outlet without taking out the battery? I've seen more people kill their batteries by doing that than I can count.
User - "My battery lasts 20minutes!"
Me - "Have you been removing the battery before docking it?"
What I'm seeing and from what I've heard from my elders though, is that more young families have to work more hours to stay at some sort of level comparable to what they had.
What is it about today's age that both parents have to work to simply be middle class without huge amounts of debt?
I'm just asking for an opnion:) I mean is it college tuitions? Does it cost that much more to feed and cloth ourselves? Are we spending that much more on entertainment/goods? This really is something that would require a good bit of research someday.
I know the baby boomers are responsible, but they're not exactly the same people they were when they were 20ish.
And I wasn't even thinking just of the hippies/boomers. I was thinking more of how when you talk to the generation that raised the boomers you hear of people sitting outside with their neighbors. Not being afraid to strike up a conversation with someone they didn't know, etc.
Hi, come to LI, NY, I'll walk you around introduce you to the many of these 'mythical persons'.
I've heard that the book, Nanny Diaries might give you an insight into these people's lives.
Oh, and I should have put 'American Family' in quotes. Because I don't think that you need to have 2 kids a wife and a dog, but conservatives who cry and bitch about the death of the American Family blame everything, but certainly not good old American greed.
And I agree, Greed is subjective. But I hope that I will never have to put expanding my bank account over my friends, family, and enriching experiences.
And what in all the hells is wrong with wanting a better lifestyle?
Nothing is wrong with that. It is just my opnion that what some people consider a better lifestyle is shallow.
Is a better lifestyle to own an expensive car or is it better to be able to spend your time with your family? Is it a better lifestyle to travel rather than have that car?
I just see more people owning expensive cars rather than travelling with or without family in tow. I think that visiting other places and meeting new peoples is worth far more than a car. Of course no one has time to travel cause they're too busy working like slaves.
You know what people are going to vote for? The guy who says 'I will tax you less', 'I will give you more money'.
He could also want to bring back segregation and most voters wouldn't care because he's not going to take their money.
The USA's culture has changed considerably since the 70's. Greed is now God. All anyone cares about is themselves and their possesions. Hell that's what's killing the American Family. Let's see, why do mommy and daddy work 80 hours a week each? That's right so he can afford an upper-middle class life.
Man that's so worth it isn't it? I mean you get to have your kids driven to school by the nanny in the new Lexus. Isn't that the American Dream?
20 years, that's how long I give this society before it collapses on itself. Civilization won't end, but you won't recognize the USA that's for sure. A lot of people aren't going to want to be part of the rat race any more.
While anything you can do in Flash you can do in JS/DHTML is true. What I've found is that when Project A needs to be done, and done yesterday Flash's development cycle has got to be 1/10th of that doing JS/DHTML.
You do it once in flash and which ever browser it's in, displays it like that. Even NS 4.x.
Here's a seperate rant. What is so bad about flash if it doesn't interfer with the functionality of the site? So many seem to cry death to flash as soon as there's a page with it. Is it because these sites just don't work without that flash component? If so I would cry "good riddence to poor usuability design". That's the true problem, not flash.
I don't know how I missed this! I order this and made nice with the geek gods! Seriously could you get a better handheld? Emu's MP3, OGG, DiVX, frontlight, etc etc.
If nintendo dropped the price to $99 and threw in Pikmin or some other $20 game, granted they'd lose a bit more as a lost leader, but damn, I think they'd sell a buttload more systems. There are still a lot of households out there where $50($54 w/tax) makes a lot of difference.
What I don't understand, and maybe I'm drunk, is if you're sharing files don't you fall under the same folder as those who sell weapons? Doesn't the "I'm just making these availible to use, it's up to those who use them to use them legally" argument work? no?

Anyone else out there doing the same for NS4?
it won't have the same sex appeal
While I understand that statement, there is just something wrong about an electronic device having 'sex appeal'... er I mean, whatever, you get my point.
Thank you!
What do you have the refresh rate set to if it's giving you eyestrain ::)
And it shouldn't make you want to watch more TV/Movies it should just enhance the experience.
Of course I'd say sell the Plasma & setup, maybe you can still get a good amount and go away on a nice vacation. Money better spent.
(I'll give you $500 for the plasma, I don't want to see you hurt your eyes any further)
Games, lots and lots of 64 person BF1942 and DC servers please.
And 128 person servers for HL2. (/me starts rumor)

If you had live versions of their music you'd be fine. I believe Phish is one of the most MP3 friendly bands and you can find bootlegs fairly easily.
All of which the band seems to have condoned, iirc.

User - "Whhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaa?"
Me - *sigh* "Fill out this expense report"
Hehhe, I have two slabs of wood seperated by four dales, dawls, er (wood columns)
Works well, a lil noisey, but easy to test stuff on!
Keeping the story moving is good, but there was no freedom? I liked RPG's when you could decide where to go and actually do things.
The animations were very nice, but I found myself running back and forth between spots just so I could fight guys rather than do nothing.
I agree 100%. I stopped playing X because out of 90minutes of playing I'd actually play for 20-30, if I was lucky.
::(
The rest of the time I sat and watched. Very boring.
I kept thinking, ok now I'll get more freedom.
Why was this such a highly rated game??? To me it was just a FMV game, you're stuck on one track the whole time.

My theory? Cocaine. Fscked the entire country up.

Because we all know that what makes a game really successful is having a linux port...

Sorry, I wanted the light too.
It was expensive, but far better than any other console. I had been llooking for an MP3 player too.
Glad you like it. I can't wait to get mine.
Oh oh oh.
I don't know how I missed this! I order this and made nice with the geek gods! Seriously could you get a better handheld? Emu's MP3, OGG, DiVX, frontlight, etc etc.
Amazing.

Very cool of them to do this. The 12yo might come out the better for being sued.
