But I don't see Microsoft putting any of those features into IE. The ad makers would scream bloody murder. The few users of Mozilla and popup killers are minority, they'll let us geek block their ads cause they're not targetting us.
They might be highly annoying, but I can't believe they're that stupid to think that no one uses Mozilla or popup killers.
Actually I thought the guns were just there to protect our right to have guns. Cause face it, we'll never be pitted against the gov't cause it can't change that fast.
Your dreams of being a patriotic American defending the American way of life against the gov't will never happen. Change happens so slow that no one except those nuts out in Montana will ever go against it. And guess what? If you ever do go against the gov't you'll be that nut in Montana (at least in the eyes of the public)
Timothy McVeigh saw himself as a freedom fighter, the question is, do you see him as one?
Thanks for the info, I really have some more some more research todo. One of the problems I'm running into is that I need something like flash to actually add usable features to one of my sites.
The nature of the changes require either Flash or DHTML. Getting things right cross browsers with DHTML is imho even harder than worrying about if a user has Flash installed. I know all a user without the proper flash installed has todo is install the plugin which is rather small.
But a user with an incompatible browser for my DHTML....
I dunno, I agree that the lack of W3C standards is disturbing, but there's not one browser out there that supports all W3C standards anyway....
Life as a web developer who cares about getting 99.44% of his users the content they want in the most "Management" friendly style (read: Standout site) is hell.::)
The poster mentions that the entire site is done in flash. And while I'll never make a site totally in flash, what was the sin here? It seemed to me like he had no problems accessing the site, so why bash flash? (The amount of animation between clicks is over the top tho)
And I'm just curious, I understand the bad parts to an all flash site, accessability, need for a plugin etc. but with flash installed on 93(90,91?)% of all browsers is it really all that bad to use?
Cause if you don't get into the special reading class in 4th grade timmy you won't get into that advanced math class and sixth and then they'll never let you into AP Chem your junior year!
High school is fine and all, but to imply that you're giving up on your future if you screw around in these grades is just obsessive. I know plenty of kids that were the goofoffs in high school, some stoners, some clowns, some just uncaring. I compare where most of them are at to where some people that were anal about every grade, and guess what I see more successes and happy lives with the goofoffs than the anal retentives. Just my observations.
Those of my friends and family who are staunch supporters of Bush and all things Republican seem to have flipflopped on a major issue of late.
Just a couple of years ago they were against all things federal. They didn't trust the politicians or any government agency. Now though, the gov't can't to anything wrong, they get extremely testy if you disagree. It's not even a good argument or conversation, they just spew rhetoric as if they simply like to reinforce their own ideas by hearing them repeated over and over.
It just bugs me, how can you be so mistrustful one second and then become a mindless drone the next?
The quality of movies on average is crap. I don't understand how some people(including some I know) need to have every ripped movie. I guess it's more of a collecting motivation than anything else. Kind of like baseball cards or Air Jordans.
I can't see buying a pirated DVD which will be of crappy quality, making the original crappy content even that much worse.
I forget what my original point was::) not enough coffee yet.
Comeon, who didn't play guerilla war when they were growing up in the 80's. Heck I think I played last night. And for once there wasn't a Happy Happy Joy Joy ending.
If they're cheap enough, 64bit will help gaming in a big way. The counter-strike team reported a ~30% increase in performance just by recompiling. Granted CS doesn't need a cray to run, but Battlefield 1942 has had some 64 player servers which I believe needed dual Athlons. 64 people is fun, but how bout 128?
Not only that, but with an (relatively)inexpensive 64bit chip out there I could see more servers popping up to play on. More servers hosting large games would be great! Feed my addiction please.
I was wondering the same thing. Not only that, but they're just Durons... Unless they were donated I would much rather have spent the little extra and gotten actual Athlons. Even if it meant fewer. Unless they needed a certain number of processors for some reason.
Humans are nasty little beasties that continue to kill and hurt each other after hundreds of years of so called civil society. Major religions denounce killings, but they do it anyway.
Alien civilization from Alpha centauri gets fed up with what they think are war reruns and destroy Earth with a long range planet buster. No one sees it coming.
It can be done, if you don't like fans in your computer, find a motherboard with a wide range of voltages. And do the oppisite of an overclock. Drop multipliers if your CPU is unlocked and drop the voltage. Less performace, but less heat. Perhaps even enough to get rid of all but a good heatsink.
Go google for more info. Sounds like a good idea tho. Personally this P4 with a 80mm fan is plenty quiet, not silet, but quiet.
700,000 TiVO like devices out there according to the article. It's not like the masses are eating these up like hotcakes. The industry has just managed to scare itself into a hysteria. Instead of focusing on quality programming they'll waste millions(billions?) on trying to outdo the geeks.
Get a life AOL/TW, gimme something good to watch and I'll watch it. Yesh!
Society loves video games, and a host of other fun activities that don't actually involve killing living people. Except maybe certain people in Iraq, Soviet Russia, Bosnia, Chechnya, Rwanda, the Old West, Nazi Germany, the White House, Cambodia....
Damn, well I guess I don't like killing other people, I can't say much for the rest of you whackos, just keep back.
*runs into his house locks the door and draws the blinds*
Cause we all know you can't accomplish anything unless you don't listen to that satan worshipping hardcore or that terrorist supporting hiphop. These kids now adays are a bunch of unworthy anti-americans.
Only those people who continue to live in the 50's can possibly bring our great civilization forward. Right?
The thing that hobbles NASA is the politicians and their demand for big results combined with the huge cuts in budget.
I can't stand closed minded people. I'm sure you can work dilligently and continuously, you must be a blast to have as a friend.
I have a feeling that there's only a certain population out there willing to play MMORPG's. The more that come out, the more you'll find with hardly enough players to support an interesting world. No point in playing a MMORPG when it's just you and a wombat::)
Maybe I've gotten too used to playing games like Civ3, but C&C generals just seems to lack real strategy. Build a lot of tanks and send them out to your enemy. Infantry seem useless at best.
IMHO the best 3D based RTS was Total Annhilation, where controlling a hill actually meant something, and every unit was of use.
I could either goto Toys R Us and get the product I want today, or go online, have to wait a couple extra days and pay shipping plus tax. Hrmmm, I guess they're right it's not going to hurt online sales at all.

Those that were wise and saved their trees would have been the first to have been eaten. Individual property rights mean diddly when the mob says so.
"These are my trees go away 100's of people you can't have them."
mob - "Oh, we didn't realize, they're not yours if you're dead right?"
"No I guess not...."
(awkward silence)

Peas and thanks for the responses
I know smaller die fabs allow for cooler chips etc, until you start filling everything in with more transistors etc.
.13micron process could you make a very cool running chip as compared to the P4's?
If you produced a Pentium 1 core or even a 2 using a
Just something I never figured out. Thanks for any replies.

Doesn't RC really stand for Radio Controlled? Remote means that there's a wire attached, no?

Actually, as far as I know, you have no right to privacy. It's just something we've come to think we deserve.
Could someone fill me in on the laws that have been passed that give us these rights? I'm not trolling I would really like to know.
More like the revenge of the smart guys who end up making a lot more money than the big brauny guy working as a McDonald's manager.

It should compile on any x86 I would think. Since the Xbox is just a pentium 3. I guess it depends on what code you're working on for it.
