    I am taking an off campus courses of a top American University graduate program here in Taiwan. The exactly same text book sold here in Taiwan is about 1/5 the price of U.S. book store. Our U.S. professor always come to Taiwan to buy the text book they need. It is a total rip off for the U.S. students IMHO.

    If the police follows you around all day, because you are in the public area and you can be seen. However, if they attached a GPS on your car without you knowing, that is search without warrant. Police can monitor you in public but not access your property without your consent or court order.

    EBook may be an iffy use for the consumers, however I see it has a great potential use in the education system. The kids or college students can go to classes for the whole day just bringing a light weigh EBook. The textbook can be stored in PDF format. Students can search and makes on the textbook. I live in Asia, where elementary school kids lug around a 20 pound book bag everyday. I see this device saves a lot of kids' back.

    MS is trying to get XP on OLPC is an effort to modify XP to run on the future cheap version of the ultra mobile device, such as Asus eeePC or classmate PC. Those are the next hot seller in the PC market. If they can get XP to run on the OLPC, then MS can just modify the XP and call it something else to enter the cheap ultra mobile market. They figure if people sees their familiar OS on the new ultra cheap PC then they are more likely to buy it and MS can just make easy money.

    The Sony's PRS-505 is at $299. I will wait until the price drop to 199. I have seen the epaper made from E Ink, it is very easy on the eyes and the latest Sony ebook has made a significant advancement in the refresh rate.

    There are tons of copy right expired content online. I can't wait to curl up on the couch and read a good classic novel.
