Just to let you know what sort of effect you guys have on the world.. I'm watching your guys right now on live web cast.. from Perth in Western Australia, and I gotta say.. I'm damned impressed with your accomplishments..
Worse hit were the CA "Etrust" users whom couldn't get an update till way after the virus pounded several of our customers.. for some reason CA were about 12-18 hours behind having an update availible on the web, even bloody mcCrappy had an update out way before them:-\
On the up side.. it uninstalls itself in a few weeks.. and does bugger all damage because it was written so poorly.. lots of bugs in the backdoor code..
The only thing it does well is self replicate..:-P
I love IBM for what they are doing.. and I love much of their hardware and software... But don't forget too quickly that IBM's name was as muddy as Microsofts about 6 years ago.. they were known to be real bastards when they want to be...
IBM has been moving away from a client server enviroment for the wondrous Domino world for ages now.. 6.5 is almost the last step before tossing the client out the window..
Its interesting to note that the have gone out of their way to support Mozilla with iNotes etc etc... fear not.. the world of Notes and linux will be a brilliant partnership!:-)
I'm not saying they haven't contributed to the linux desktop.. just that they're not going to put a huge effort into the future dev of it.. They plan to ride the community to the bank I believe..
*shrug* They're pretty canny business men.. it should work..
wouldn't it be funny if 3drealms didn't finish Duke 4 ever until linux dominated the home desktop market.. then they'd have to re-write their game AGAIN so it would be compatable..
RedHat pretty much have the enterprise linux market at the moment.. why not take the easy way out, and make sure that they are very visable in the desktop market, but never put resources into working on it until the other companies have done all the hard pioneering work for them..??!!
They will put bucketloads of support for the linux desktop enviroments/movements, but wait until the market is plump and tender before that roll in and attempt to dominate the market..
But wasn't one of the results of the enron fiasco, that MD's that let companies go bad/do naughty things, will be held directly responsable for it.. and incure jail time/fines to themselves personally??
If thats the case then Darl may very well have a "Dinner date" with an 8 foot monster called "Tyrone"..
as the chances are that they stipulated what the 50 mil is to be used for.. and they might think that their linux case is a waste of time.. they MAY have stipulated that they don't use the 50 mil for that case...
yeah its still a pre-release... php?t=127764
