Not only that, think about an ipod that doesn't have the hard drive problems that it does today.
or imagine a raid of these in a server for either a SAN or a Database, where the data i/o would surpass 1 gig per second, granted if they make it go beyond the normal pci bus.
I personally am looking forward to this

well its not just for mac os,
many things, livecd's that are debian based. Windows vista also has a slightly different take, it just pops up a dialog box everytime it wants to do something admin like. which is cool, except it doesn't give full admin which I guess is a step forward for windows. but if you want to change file permissions on a kernel file you should be able to without being forced to reboot to a recovery console, can do this in bsd and linux variants.
Can always go further, and constantly have a list of growing ips and names for dns entry's to deny via transparent squid server. Thats what I usually do as root for the one place I work.
Hate flash advertisements, and the likes.
Yes, but the main difference is the updates and the transformations if written for the nvidia only cards can render over a million particles without breaking a sweat, where as when required the logic of the program it starts to become draining on the cpu for over 500,000 particles.
How do I know these numbers? I have written a particle systems manager in c# for opengl, the ability of the nVidia to push out a million + particles and maintain a high framerate is very nice for much more realistic effects like, hair, water, snow.
its not "new" its just a further development
Yes, yes there is, there is a MUCH easier way for updating
emerge --update world
but that requires Gentoo... Always helps to have your computer be able to upgrade all of its software without reinstalling from a new CD
Maybe because you enjoy computers?
I sit on a computer at work all day, go home to my real computer, and for me its a completely different activity, and I love it. Then again I am probabbly just weird.

Exactly,
The bus has sooo much more capabilities than the limited uses of a graphics card, not to mention its not even using anywhere near the bandwidth that 4 gpu's would be able to utilize.
What I would like to see is the following.
PCI express raid card for either, scsi, sata, or anything.
because of the limitations of the normal pci bus you cannot easily achieve data access of rates over 1,000 mbs continuous, non burst.
Not sure if you know it from playing too many games, but I believe that you raise cattle, and you rear children. That being said you must have some interesting children
I dunno about you but, phishing always seems so easy to identify. I can see it being very good for the grandma's out there, but some of the things I like about firefox is the fact that its lightweight (when tuned correctly) If things like this keep happening could turn into a cluster

c# is for doing it right
vb is for the uninformed and quick turn outs
All too often was the quick turn out a horrible unmanagable code, vb being in the.net framework allows for many easily interface options for the unaquainted and quick turn outs.
Think of it this way, at least its better than VFP
ya so.... ok the day google desktop came out we were instructed to not use it because of this purpose. So they shouldn't be getting pissed at google when their own IT didn't handle it imo.
Might sound silly but,
Everyone I know has problems you described, except me, and Ive changed locations several times.
Only thing different between me and the people I know having problems with width didn't have a nice router.
I have a netbsd firewall / router for my access with packet shaping.
I have never had a problem with the width being below 6 megs esp when I am only registered for 4 megs. I even called and asked about it, and they said its fine, because most people 'feel' 4 megs when they are actually getting more.
Now, the only quam is if they would friggen make it so you wouldn't have to pay for basic cable.... yeay for TV when I don't own one nor want one... dsl? have to have a phone like.. or pay extra for dry loop.
Cant use sattellite because of living in an apartment, hate being forced to pay for shit you don't want or use.
ya, for my egg drop, they threw us an egg from a distance and we had to catch it. I had a garbage bag, and a huge ammount of shipping bubbles, I didn't lose, but I lost one of the eggs in the abyss known as my garbage bag.
well I started out when I was 8 on a 8086, it was not too helpful for prononciations of words like, genre. Although I did learn how to compile my kernel and install different operating systems when I was 10. To me the computer was this mega game, that when I would program using the win32 api I could do whatever I wanted the computer to do. This was also before the internet, and AIM. I would connect to BBS's and play rpg's there.
If the kids just wanna sit there and play mindless games, I am not sure how long, but depending on the motivation and the desire, it could be a great thing to know at age 5. My Mother teaches 5 year olds in school and teaches them about the computer, how to type, has them playing typing games, and has them type letters, and draw out plans.
It really depends on your kids on how much they want to do it.
I ended up spending 10 hours a day on my dos / linux computer
dialing up into BBS's.
It ate into my school time, but I now program making more money than I would if I did go for an english degree and became a teacher.
Sure sure sure, they can allow this to happen so that he can activate the pleasure part of his brain....
but NOOOOO they can't let us activate the pleasure part via crack/cocain.
{sarcasm)This seems so fair(/sarcasm)
Then again they might make it a tax evasion to allow him to do this, then make it punishable.
With all of this hype, will they actually make it open source, or a just a binary?
I dislike not being able to compile the software that I use. Then again I am probabbly just finnicky
Ya, but the lower frequencies that we cannot hear, is automatically removed from the song file that constitutes an MP3, that is how most of the data is compressed from RAW to mp3. That is probabbly why they are making small changes to 'audiable' noises so that they can detect it.
I did... When it came out and everyone was raving about it. It has its places, but when I was 13 I was programming in c++, and picked up a book on java and felt that it was c++ for the programming impaired and lazy. which of course is how I felt about vb until vb switched to the.net framework.
this is true, but this is the kick when you wanna do something as a user in unix, you can, but when a program is able to have more access to your own computer (spyware) then you do, thats when I think *nix will be better.
for me windows has not run well for me ever on my current hardware. I use gentoo 64 bit with amd 64 3000+ and a 6600 gt. I play counterstrike (sadly still) and Dark age of camelot. and It plays counterstrike perfectly, but dark age I am not able to use the pixel shaders.
although overall I am 2x-3x happier with the switch to linux than windows, I find myself cursing at windows at the college's computers
I work at a book store where they have to sort pallets, and go through 100,000 books via sort.
Easiest way that I have found to get them organized physically before being processed for data is
Size,
Small, normal, large
then by color
primarily blue/green, red/black, yellow/white
then since you have less books a bucket sort on each wouldn't hurt.
