Really? You walk through one of the two most affluent suburbs of DC and act shocked that you were safe? A place where 150 year old row houses sell for 800000? You're being deliberately obtuse, go walk around south east at midnight and you'll be thinking differently.
Also, realize that Arlington and Alexandria are both cities in Virginia, Alexandria being a part of Fairfax county, a county with one of the largest median incomes in the country. The key point being that they're in Virginia though, not in DC.
Doh, thats what I get for not RTFA. So this ruling really only applies to a fairly specific set of conditions? Is the headline of 'First Sale Doctrine Doesn't Apply to Licensed Software' accurate?
I don't understand how this is any different. Surely AutoDesk doesn't sell directly to consumers. Which would mean, instead of publishers dealing with retailers with a wholesaler middle man, we have publishers dealing with consumers with the retailers as middle men. Right?
When did half life two come out? I remember my machine at the time didn't have internet (no modem, and I was living at my parents without broadband) and I was irate that my brand new single player game needed to get on the internet before I could even install it!
So anyway, Wikipedia says Nov 2004 is when HL2 was released, and while it might not have been the first, thats still 5.5 years ago they were implementing what blizzard seems to be implementing here.
It really has been a while since we had un-restrictive drm in games. Funny how we just get used to it after a while...
So you expect them to just give up on the rather lucrative sales of OSX to all their old macs? I bought leopard for my 3 year old macbook along with a new hard drive. Thats $150.00 of almost pure profit for Apple, that they wouldnt have gotten from me otherwise, I had restore CD's, I could have used them, but I wanted expose and spaces and time machine.
I highly doubt they'd give up that second sale just to spite another company.
Thats exactly what happened in the first expansion.
You say insane key requirements for everything but the first couple 25 mans, then blizzard quickly dropped the second 2 raids key requirements, then a while later, they removed the keying requirements for the last 2, which was then followed with a content patch for the final raid dungeon of TBC.
I ran into this issue just the other day when I was trying to get my credit report. So I go to google, and search for "equifax"
The first link one the page (admittedly in the ad results) is "Equifax - Official Site" so I click on that only to get redirected to equifaxproducts.com.
If someone did that to my business, with an advertisement posing as my official website, only to get redirected to a competitor's, i'd be furious. This practice in no way benefits the customer.
This is actually what i think they were going for with the new MPG requirements. Any car that is E85 compatible sees a 50% increase in their fuel economy in regards to the 35MPG Fleet average. This little stipulation (IMO) will cause just about every car we see coming to market becoming E85 compatible, which will then increase the amount of E85 stations, etc, etc.
Simply put, yes it is the publishers fault. They have designed a game where a black market has been created to exchange gold. It's quite obvious that this black market is going to exist regardless of what the publishers do, so its frivolous for said publishers to continue trying to lock it down and acknowledge it, pull gold trade out of the black market, and keep the gamers from entering this "very risky grey market" that they're talking about here.
I hate to bring up analogies, but it's alot like prohibition, all it did was make alcohol black market, made the purchases riskier, it didn't thwart much alcohol consumption, merely made everyone turn away from the legit sources and find it in other places.
But then it would always take you a "faster" route that you've never taken before, because those routes will always seem faster due to the fact you haven't driven them before. It would take you quite a ways out before it would actually be slower going the speed limit. It just seems like you would have to drive many rediculous routes before this thing actually found something better, at least IMO.
In chicago (well, northwest suburbs) all the streets are pretty bad, and i've found that no detours speed things up, I just see myself getting this thing, and being late for work for 2 weeks+ trying out the crazy new routes it has come up with, only to have it "learn" that the orignal way (or one of the first few) was indeed the fastest.
Now maybe if you could get it to share information with others.. hmm...
Actually I seem to remember reading about one such instance in Desert Storm, I believe it was some Canadian Forces manning an anti-aircraft gun, and they shot down a friendly helicopter.
Upon investigation I believe it was found they had been on post for like 36 hours before the incident, they had been staying awake using amphetamines.
being a person who regularly raided and spent ALOT of time doing lvl 60 stuff, i can relate somewhat.
First, the gear isn't nearly as obsolete as you act like it is. Expecting your tier2 gear to be good at 70 is rediculous, as the level differance there is as significant as going from 40-60, if not an even longer range of levels.
Second, i have alot of gear, mostly from MC and BWL, alot of it from bwl actually, and at level 67, i still have yet to replace ALL my gear. When the new pvp system rolled out, that replaced alot of my gear, but i didn't hear you whining then.
Also, of course materials are going to get cheap that was once expensive, thats the way things are anywhere, is it really that big a deal you spent X amount of gold on materials for some enchant that people are now offering for free?
Then, you complain about the world of warcraft being obsolete. How so? I find that comment ignorant, since you can still grind and do quests in several place, but all the NEW content is in the NEW area, it has to be that way for blizzard to charge people , Do you not see why there has to be that seperation? Complaining the the world of warcraft is obsolete except for outland is like whining about how the barrens is obsolete once you hit level 40.
that doesn't make any sense... So do car dealers lock up the market on new cars, cause shortly after a new model (lets say with a new engine) is released you can no longer the newest model of that car with the older engine? I fail to see how this isn't a free market, its not like you cant go and get an older computer, or even an older install disc of xp...
Doesn't this idea lend itself to having the educated want to hold back the uneducated, in an attempt to keep power? The "educated democracy" sounds as scary as democracy is now.
http://www.faronics.com/ has a program called deep freeze, its not free, but after implementing it in several of our public labs it cut down just about all the troubles. Just reboot and the thing is exactly how it was when you froze it. Please note i'm not associated with faronics or deep freeze in any way, just found the program useful and thought it might help you out.
But this then raises the issue, if i trade some weapon that i could sell in real life for say $50, for a piece that is worth $100 in real life, even though no real money traded, will i be expected to pay the differance in taxes? Or what if i sold it in the game for a bunch of online currency? How do you decide what gets taxed and what doesn't?
how about that is cost in excess of $900,000 for gm to produce? Plus that movie argued about cold weather performance of fuel-cell, but seems to forget that gm engineers figured around 4-11 miles distance on a full charge of the ev1 in similar conditions. It was doomed to begin with. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_EV1

The end result is that it that harder for web apps.

Your spending limit is clearly printed on your contract with Sprint
He was referring to apathyruiners post. Which is where I pulled this quote.
I highly doubt they'd give up that second sale just to spite another company.
People aren't even compensated for time spent in a jail cell!
They typically are when it is longer periods due to a wrongful conviction.
A man in San Diego, CA awarded $100/day for the time he spent in a jailcell
A man in boston served 18 years, eligible for up to $500,000
An Australian man seeks 7.5 Million in damages from 12 years served, West AU offering 3.25
Not that I dont agree the lost time thing will ever work, just wanted to point out that people are infact compensated for jailtime they didnt deserve
Thats exactly what happened in the first expansion.

Ever play the walmart map? it had alot of indoors, alot of them do actually... just not the ever popular dust and dust2

you may want to look at this site:

They worked with turbines before, conspiresests can fill in the rest.

Am i missing something here? How did this get modded insightful? Someone please enlighten me, because I'm lost
