Just because you see them as a viable source of "Fair and Balanced" news doesn't mean that everyone sees it as "The Most Powerful Name in News."

I personally find it all humorous as they are over the top on everything and opinions are exaggerated to the point where it is outrageous. To me, it's a comedy of errors and I just laugh at it, much like I would Stephen Colbert.

M-Audio is the Prosumer line. It's the attempt to make something that looks and feels pro, but is cheap enough for the consumer. As a sound guy, buying an M-Audio interface is tat amount to a tech professional with a need for a high quality server buying one of those mac mini servers and calling it a day. Their driver support is awful, half the time the units do not work as advertised. The sound is mediocre. And worst of all, their owned by Digidesign, which is owned by Avid. Digidesign's drivers are the closest thing I've found to a virus in OS X.

That all being said, if you're looking at doing something like this, just get a decent sound card. Most will do 24-bit.

Regardless, I wouldn't be using an 8 bit card for digitizing vinyl, I'm even suspicious using 16-bit. Furthermore, the idea of just RCA to 1/8" minijacks is missing a couple of things, particularly an RIAA (as much as I hated the organization) EQ (included in Audacity, however a real preamp and eq would make a difference). If there wasn't one in your Technics receiver, or one setup for it, it's probably going to be a big difference.

They haven't blamed the games, they've blamed the parent (or step-parent) for leaving the loaded gun on the table. They don't even mention what "shooting" game the 3 year old was used to playing, although, should a 3 year old really be playing any shooting game? Reminds me of the old "Daddy can I play?" difficulty setting on Doom or Duke Nukem or Wolfenstein (I don't remember which one).

Ironically, Frank Herbert seems to be one of the movie's biggest fans*.

*Citation need? Here's one stolen from Wikipedia: Rozen, Leah. "With another best-seller and an upcoming film, Dune is busting out all over for Frank Herbert." People Weekly. (25 Jun 1984) Vol. 21 pp. 129-130.

Excuse me, but I'm calling serious bullshit on that! That statement clearly implies that People Weekly thinks that Herbert was doing well with the Dune series because it's showing up everywhere!

Furthermore, contrary to popular belief, Herbert really didn't have much of a hand in writing the final script at all. A la Wikipedia:

In 1981, the nine-year film rights were set to expire. De Laurentiis re-negotiated the rights from the author, adding to them the rights to the Dune sequels (written and unwritten). After seeing The Elephant Man, Raffaella De Laurentiis decided that David Lynch should direct the movie. Around that time Lynch received several other directing offers, including Return of the Jedi. He agreed to direct Dune and write the screenplay even though he had not read the book, known the story, or even been interested in science fiction.[3] David Lynch worked on the script for six months with Eric Bergen and Christopher De Vore. The team yielded two drafts of the script before it split over creative differences. Lynch would subsequently work on five more drafts.

In a slightly later paragraph, Wikipedia notes that Herbert was "satisfied with the final release." I know that I don't consider the phrase satisfied to imply that I'm one of the biggest fans.

That Tuesday happened to be his birthday, with a big party going on at the bowling alley. There also happened to be a major sports conference going on Tuesday night. Simply outrageous action, but... That being said, everything that can be found on the subject has very little to do with what the university states and is almost entirely heresy from the banned former student as the university's policy is to not comment on such occurrences and EIU's journalism is not necessarily the best.
