While I agree that the majority of EA games are fuming turds, don't touch Crysis. It's one of the best-looking and most fun games I have played in a long while.
Apparently Crytek has been getting real nice treatment from EA, it is good to see that they are giving the developer's they own some bit of freedom now. Hopefully this will continue with BioWare.
But... I don't know, considering how well Crysis sold, we'll have to wait and see what they allow BioWare.
I wouldn't say so, they must have realized how much money this game could make for them and therefore put a good amount of effort into it. Not only that, but if this game is handled properly they could instantly shut up all of those "Wii isn't for hardcore gamers" and "Nintendo hates online play" people.
There is a lot riding on SSBB and I doubt Nintendo hasn't been breaking their backs over this.
Good point about the jackets, but on most levels (well, on 2fort, but that's all my friends seem to play) each side stands out on the opposing side's base and blends in in their own base. The Red Base has barn-style decorations and The Blue Base has bluer walls and more shadowed areas.
Personally I want to see the current stats put up against the next batch of stats. How many more people will be playing Blue now that it is revealed to be the team that wins most often and how will this affect their winning streak?
Ah, I just got a great idea when I read about either humans or zombies hiding in cabinets. The mental image of this brought back memories of a part in the later half of Resident Evil 4 where a zombie busts out of a stove on fire, screaming. This was one of the only parts I was genuinely scared playing that game and I thought that it would be awesome if the zombies in a game like you described had an ability to scream or shriek. They could use this to hide and scare humans, thus adding much more strategy to the game.
Humans would have to worry about being surprised and actually succumbing to fear, a plausible element in a zombie apocalypse situation, and the Zombies would have that much more fun scaring the crap out of people.
To any Windows users weary of using Linux because of its looks - worry not. I started using KDE around version 3.1 and was humbly surprised by how nice it looked. Many of the default screens don't do it justice. If you want to give KDE (or GNOME, for that matter) a new look you can hop over to KDE-Look or GNOME-Look respectively. For the users who prefer a more minimalistic interface you could always try out Enlightenment, a fantastic looking window manager.
That being said, I have no doubt that KDE 4.0 will make everything good looking and functional I love about KDE much better, so there is always that to look forward to.
Touch me, it seems to say. DO NOT TOUCH. You touch it. Oh GOD what have I done?
Wow, that is the last time I jump into the middle of a comment without reading the entire thing.
I can see this happening, however I do not think that desktop computers will become totally extinct. I do think however that they will become less-used. These days, many people who own full desktop computers don't even need all of the things they have. Many people are quite satisfied with a web browser, email, and maybe an IM client or a data organizer. Depending on their needs, office suites might also be needed.
But really, that is the extent of many peoples computer usage. I hear this a lot when people preach about going to a different OS, saying that you can do all the things you do with your old OS on this new one minus the stuff you don't like, and I think the same ideal can be applied when switching to a smaller mobile device from a full desktop computer.
I see this in my family also, even though we have a family desktop, noone uses any more applications than FireFox or AIM or iTunes. A less powerful device is great for them, but for someone like me who needs bleeding edge graphics for games and processing power for compiling applications and the like, I don't see desktops going out of style anytime soon.
To be honest, I was wondering the exact same thing. I have no clue on the status of the game, but I have heard that it was
morbidly easy compared to the other Dance Dance Revolution games.
Keep in mind, they didn't say that this is the sole reason people are obese. I'm sure eating unhealthily and not excersizing has a much greater effect upon your weight than this virus, which hasn't even been thoroughly proven. The article said "There is accumulating evidence that certain viruses may cause obesity", not "Certain viruses cause obesity".
Reminds me of Quake 3, when your are about to get the quad but someone else swipes it from under your nose. Denied!
This is a really nifty idea, I would love to keep one of my favorite distros in my pocket. You can change the packets and whatnot when it is installed, right? Like change the Desktop Environment to KDE or XFCE? I'm not too fond of GNOME, first thing I change when I install Ubuntu on a box.
I'm not the original Anonymous Coward, I'm just being an asshat.
Do you hear that?
It's the sound of that joke going way over your head.

Isn't modding the parent up as informative a spoiler?
The fact that the parent was modded Interesting and not Funny makes me wonder how many /.-ers thought "Hey, that is something I have to keep in mind".

The number one cause, of course, is bears.
I mean, this is just plain stupid. It's like someone names a linux distribution Ubuntu or something, that would never be succe-
Oh, wait...
Pun intended.
