The problem is that the UI designers are changing focus from desktops and laptops to touch screen devices and such when the majority of users are still using a mouse and keyboard setup to navigate.
No matter how outdated the mouse/keyboard setup might be, it's still the most prevalent means of computer UI navigation available, and many of us are still very comfortable with that setup.
The difference between this situation and your car analogy is that the mouse/keyboard setup still works very well for the majority of computers. A better analogy would be if they would remove the physical steering wheel, shift stick and everything for your car and replace those with a giant touch screen interface.
I dual booted Windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.04 (or 9.10, I don't remember), because I work with Adobe products often so I need Windows but I also like to dabble in Linux from time to time and running either OS in a virtual machine doesn't cut it.
Ubuntu/Windows fucked up my GRUB and/or ext3 partition and I couldn't really find a way to fix it either. I'm not a beginner Linux-user but I am no sysadmin either. I could never get into my Ubuntu system again. Ubuntu/Windows also messed with the head of scandisk/chkdsk in Windows 7 that it "repaired" my files regularly at reboot which eventually lead to a huge loss of data. (Most of which I got back, fortunately.)
Since then I don't dare to run Linux/Windows dual boot anymore. It's a shame, because I like them both.
Except that they filter out any user data and passwords when they publish the search terms. Any other situation would have generated a huge outcry by now. Try finding any login information this way yourself and you'll notice it can't be found.
Then you'd just have added another programming layer since you'd still have to tell the computer exactly what type of software you want it to write. Really not that different from a compiler.
Why wouldn't consciousness be fit to be made into an algorithm? You think somehow consciousness doesn't follow the same rules of physics as everything else in the universe?
That would produce some bad looking results, as the driver wouldn't know the difference between a model that is intentionally polygonal and one that is not.
Why would you even run 64-bit Firefox if not everything works with it? I can't imagine there are any noticable performance gains to be made from surfing the web in a 64-bit application. Placebo effect?
It has everything to do with linking people and information, since hyperlinking copyrighted material is not considered a crime in Sweden.
Until now, because torrents are technically not much more than a file with links.
Of course there's an outrage. Linking copyrighted material is LEGAL in Sweden. Hosting copyrighted material for unlawful distribution is illegal. It is obvious that The Pirate Bay have not been involved in the latter.
They got a one-year prison sentence and 30 million SEK in fines for something that is legal.
I mean, who wouldn't like to drive around with their mini-airplane, potentially bumping into cars, trees, mailboxes or senior citizens, or have it suffer some other unnecessary wear and tear, or have their cars messed with while parked only to find out that something vital has been broken while in mid flight?
They were hardly protesting against having their music spread to the big masses. They obviously intented to point out that the most influential politician/pro-copyright spokesman of France is a hypocritical asshole.
The truly hardcore gamers won't play it but they can likely find a use for it during the long sessions of bashing the game on forums for not being in isometric view.
Just bury anything with a USB 2.0 connection, no way will it be difficult to find a computer with a USB port in 25 years considering all the millions and millions of peripherals that use it.

What type of dumbass moderators are at work here? I got moderated down as Troll when I obviously just answered the parent's post with accurate info.

Elitist much?
It's OK, the media will inform the voters. The media always report the unbiased truth!

Maybe you just shouldn't use a word like "source" to mean "executable" when you're talking about software. It's just bound to create confusion.
On a side note, kilobyte is abbreviated kB, not KB or kb.

This forum is made up of several people, so there can sometimes be what would seem to you as conflicting opinions.

Phase 4: ???
Phase 5: PROFIT!

This sounds like a great invention.

Sigh.

It's incredible how anyone could miss the point.
When's the "-1, Enough Already" moderation option coming?

Just replace the text you wish to blur with some other random text of the same size and then blur it.
What old laptop you buy from a friend for $50 wouldn't be capable of running Linux and have a higher screen resolution?

It's times like this when I'm glad I don't have any friends.
A PAL DVD is 576p.
Lighten up, it is obviously a JOKE. The joke is Sweden and Switzerland are always mixed up, and we're both small countries that nobody cares about. :D
