I went and tried it out.[...]
Once you have an account, there is very little to actually/do/, that I can see.
the way I see it there is all sort of game-like application you can use with your friends. most are about "make believe" that you did something with them. It's good light-hearted fun. now if you'll excuse me I'm just getting my baseball and will be off your lawn in a second.
This EEE laptop could well start a new fashion, inspired by the OLPC XO, but in a shape that normal people wouldn't be embarrassed to carry on the street. Just create wifi networks on the go and chat rooms for anyone to join. Better than SMS and for free - if you have an XO or EEE. Commuting would never be the same again.
100% agreed. With all the search expertise those guys have, maybe it's possible to have all WMV and AVI attachments replaced by having the body of the message with a link to googlevideo where all crap my friends send could be stored. of course I would prefer if google asked permission before making this conversion first. maybe an alternative "archive" button for this kind of stuff would be enough.
Considering the number of/. posters stating that PCWorld sucks and the number of PC World shops in existence, it appears that the bad word of mouth can be overcome by 2 cents off. (or 2p., in this case)
Suggestion: set up a BIOS password to prevent the PC from booting up, then go to PC World again for them to repair the hardware problem. don't forget to sign the papers stating you want them to fix the hardware.
One thing that may be hurting the recording industry is plain demographics. It looks to me that people build their musical taste and buy lots of music when they're of a certain age. Then they'll cut back on that kind of entertainment and buy other things (travel, films,...). If one generation decides not to buy a lot of music because they got a lot of the singles they wanted through Napster, and they skip the "music-purchasing" phase in their lives, that's a problem for the industry. Now if this generation of non-buyers is smaller than the previous generation, and it happens to be exactly in the high income countries of the world, then it's a big problem for the industry.
the industry should have been proactive about his but is still on time to flood p2p networks with Barry White's music:)
I don't know if it's hard to control this simulator or if it's realistic, but I wish it was more like LHX. in fact, a hybrid of LHX Attack Chopper with Google Maps would kick ass.
nah, it's pointless because Mac users are undeserving.
When Google released Desktop Search for Mac, all I could read on Mac forums was "meh, nothing new compared to Spotlight" "meh, what do we need this for?" "spotlight is prettier", etc.
The other day, Openoffice.org announced a release candidate native for OS X... all I could read on Mac forums was "this is nice, but it's not really Mac-like", "I'll just save £59 and wait for iWorks 2008", "meh, MS Office is better", etc.
so, unless Google decides to charge £20 for all its betas as shareware, I don't think that the Mac users will really care. Good for everyone if the folks at google don't waste too much time with OS X native versions and just get the stuff working for those who look at what the software can do instead of what it looks like compared to Steve Jobs' Commandments for iApps.
Not so much a right to pollute, but a normal consequence of polluting (=using resources). Prosperous people/countries can afford to choose to pollute more or less and the poorest don't have much of a choice in that area. The measurement of pollution vs. inhabitants instead of vs. GDP dismisses the fact that companies and economic development spend resources and pollute more than just a sum of a lot of individuals.

yes, starting with Direct X, Microsoft Office and possibly some new and improved video/audio formats. Add DRM to taste and boil slowly.
- change the pop-out headlights for something that is more pedestrian-friendly
- lower the suspension a bit
- change the wheels and rims to something showing less rubber and more carbon
- change the velvet interiors to black leather or whatever BMW uses
- add some neon for Super Pursuit Mode
- change the dashboard to something with a consistent colour scheme. Maybe the one they use for Start Trek NG. Or Apple iPhone.
The rest was just fine, just have the good guy catch the bad guy and kiss the girl in the end. or the other way around to make it more modern...can you say that again in terms of... cars?
[silly g(r)eek accent]of course not, don't be ridiculous. [/silly g(r)eek accent]

yeah, we'll get to that as soon as we're done making fun of the poor sod.
Linux is really for command-line hackers only... setting the time zone manually... pft. what a disgrace for the IT world... :p

maybe they all met at the clinic
Prince Charming is that you?
about that overclocking thing... was it "the icing on the cake" or was it necessary to keep your setup performing nicely enough to compete?
"Hmmm.... if you put things that way... I think you're right!"
