    What phone are you using? Every camera phone I have seen and used saves the picture before sending it. The picture is saved on the phone. You can still delete the picture from the phone. The picture is saved to the phone before sending.

    Movie studios want PG-13 to get a wider audience. If the movie is rated R, they think fewer people will go see it.

    I think that is the reason why I haven't been to a movie theater is 10+ years now. I try to watch the unrated version of movies on DVD. But that is just me.

    When microsoft was trademarking the term 'windows', what did most people think of when they heard 'windows'? I'd bet they did not think of a computer operating system. Today, many people know what a computer is. They know that computer have programs or applications. Many people call applications apps for short. If apple had submitted the trademark for "app store" in 1990 they probable would have gotten it. Today it is a generic term. Timing matters a lot with trademarks.

    Yes. Well you could have a secondary computer index the web for you. Then just search *that* computer. At least you should have fast search results.

    Then you could allow other people to use your search engine.

    Then you allow (and charge) companies to place their ads on your search engine.

    Then profit!

    Wait? So the ... step is allow people to place ads on your search engine?

    ... - just because you run Apple doesn't make you special.

    Every time I tell my apple users this, they tell me I am wrong. They are special for using macs.

    Then again, this is the same group of people that told us to replace all the projectors since none of the them had a mini display port input. Using the dongle adapter (from apple) ruined the look of their mac.

    The money dissolves? I have washed US paper money often. Not on purpose, but a lot. The currency was sill usable after word. This includes $20, $10, $5, and $1 dollar bills. I have washed $50 and $100 as well. Th bills were never flat. they were folded in a pocket. If the bill got lose it was usually shredded by the washing machine itself. Maybe you did actually have counterfeit bills?

    The condom didn't break. They had sex. Later on she was woken up by Assange having sex with her again. She asked if he as using a condom. He replied "you". Meaning that she was the condom. He was not using a condom. She should have cried foul and made him stop. But she let him continue. In Sweden, unwanted unprotected sex can be a crime. That is the law there.

    The whole thing is messed up to me. We are almost at the point where people need a contract signed in front of a few lawyers to have sex.

    The ipad being the cheapest was an article (on cnn I think?) I read the other day. It boils down to apple having brick and mortar stores and the apple app store. Apple can sell their ipads for less since apple doesn't have to use third parties to sell their products. The other tablet makers do. Maybe not dell, but dell has few stores. Apple sells directly. Also the app store which brings in money for apple is the only place were people can get applications for their ipad.

    If ford sold a car that you could only use ford gas, ford tires, ford spark plugs, ford radio stations, and ford mp3s people would be in an uproar. This is not the case with electronics. That method is acceptable for now. Will this change, we will see. But for now, apple has a cash cow that they will milk for as long as possible. Sony, samsung, and everyone else would do the same thing if they could.

    Any laptop or desktop when taken care of can last for years. If you do not take care of your laptop or desktop, it will not last for years. This is not a hard concept. As far as overall user experience goes, that is very different from person to person. Apple computers are not for everybody. Then again, no one computer manufacturer is the best for everyone.

    The access was restored after 30 minutes or so. It says so in the article. It also says this was a new website. The system there is set to block all new websites until they are checked out. It doesn't matter what the web site is. A government system that is trying to be somewhat responsible is wrong? If government web service was wide open to all sites, people would be complaining that the government web access allows kids to get porn or other things parents do not want their kids to see.

    I thought Mars had a major impact event(s) some time ago. Major enough to reshape the surface of the planet. Also look at Mars' magnetic field. Or maybe lack of I should say. Mars has a very weak magnetic field. Theories about impact events reshaped the planet and Mars' magnetic field was weakened in the process. Could the impact events have messed up the planet?

    You mean like if solid water (ice) was not less dense then liquid water there would be no life on this planet? If water acted like most other materials, the solid form would sink to the bottom of the liquid form. Which would destroy 'life' by crushing it as it settled on the bottom.

    I think life would have evolved to deal with that personally. But ice is less dense then liquid water, so we are good.

    Did google ever answer why they were collecting the data in the first place? They were making maps. So pictures and GPS coordinates should be taken. Why were NAT addresses of people's routers (and other things) taken? Something is up. If microsoft had done this, people would be calling for heads to roll, microsoft be sued then burned to the ground. What is google planning?

    If you lose heat or power you call 911? Really? In case people forgot most cities have emergency response centers. These centers are monitoring the power grid among other things. You are calling 911 to report a loss of power that they are already aware of.

    If you lost power and a tree fell on your house trapping you inside or under part of the roof. Fine call 911. Just because the power went out? You are calling the wrong people. When I lost power I called the power company. If my heater breaks I call the people I have to fix the heater. I have had elderly neighbors (90+ years old). When we lost power in a winter snowstorm, I called the power company to let them know. I did check on my neighbors. We had oil forced air heat, but no power means no fan to push the air around. We had no heat when the power went out.

    What about people being forced to vote one way or another? Your employer wants you to vote a certain way. If you have a total open voting system, employers know what employee voted for. Then the employer can act accordingly. This is what the secret ballot is trying to prevent. If you are saying that all you are checking is that each person voted, not how they voted, I have no issue. We still need to keep how each person votes a secret.

    Have you read the reports of people voting more then once, or of people who voted who had been dead for 5+ years? All those 'votes' went for one party or another. There are many ways to game the system. If people had to vote in person it is harder. I know many people vote with the absentee ballot. Those in the military or those who job has them stationed out of country it makes sense for that. Other then that, get your butt to the voting place. Since it is a right to vote, your employer should not be able to threaten you with being fired for voting.

    I remember the times when the using iomega Zip disk on a PC, slow as HD diskette. On the mac almost as fast as the internal hard drive, plug n play even.

    So your saying that macs had faster USB ports then pcs did? Or are you trying to compare USB 1.0 speed to firewire 400? There is no competition, firewire 400 beats USB 1.0. I think it beats USB 1.1 as well.

    Does firewire beat the internal zip dives? The ones that were IDE or SCSI connected? That might have been a more fair comparison.

    If the employee is taking a work laptop home (or has a work desktop at their home), I could see a company limiting what that computer is used for. It is, in the eyes on the company, the company's computer. If it is on the employee's personal computer, no such luck.

    Imacs started around 1998. My pc from 1996 had USB ports on it. Only 2 at 1.0 speeds, but they were there. Every pc I have seen since 1996 has had USB ports on them. Granted most people did not use USB until 1998, 1999. Didn't apple want firewire over USB? Which was why apple had firewire ports on their machines until recently. Firewire is a trademarked by apple. The mainstream market picked USB over firewire. Or could companies not using firewire have been to use the term "firewire" companies had to pay apple? IEEE 1394 doesn't have the same ring to it as firewire does.

    If the older TV was taken care of. Kept dust free, not feed PP&J sandwiches by the little ones, it should last for years. Why my 5 year old LCD dies and the 15 year old CRT is still going strong is bugging me. I also have my grandfather's portable radio from 1971. The paper speaker still works (sounds crappy but for the beach it is OK). Had to replace the antenna, radio shack still had one that fit. My friends replace their radios ever 1-2 years. I still have the same old one. People ask what does solid state mean? Often the older stuff is build better then today's stuff. Sort of sad.

    You have a BR drive but no software to play the BR disk? I thought most BR drive came with some BR player software. They software may suck, but it at least plays the disks.

    My only problem with the switch to HDMI has been that the long cable to the projector is so heavy that the HDMI connectors won't physically hold the cable in place unless they're anchored in place with velcro straps around the cable. It's not a very good connector design from a physical standpoint.

    I think that is one of the reasons why display port is there. It actually locks into the connection. Displayport also can go to resolutions higher then 1080. At least is does in the testing I have done. Is all the DRM crap there with displayport? I would think so, I haven't tested anything with DRM to tell. All the movies used were ripped to files.

    But it'll cost you for that access. Also remember that after 5 'moves' you have to buy the song again.
