    I dont think he will ever get any elemental Francium. If i remember back to high school it is EXTREEEEEEEEEEMELY rare because it oxidises (i think thats chemisteese for burns) in sunlight.

    they just went through an extreemely publisised merger so their servers are probably already strained. The /. crowd could easily tip the scales

    you know what the really suckie thing about that is...
    when it comes to meta moderation everyone will assume that it was already posted and mark it as fair. I think that the moderation system should come with a REASON for when it is to be meta-moderated. then when the moderater put something stupid like "it is the same as what was on the link" they will be meta moderated to hell

    Looking at the photo acompanying the article something occured to me. The advertising on the suits what a great idea. I mean could you imagine if in the sixties you had the fore sight to have your corporate logo plastered on Neil Armstrongs arse. The most watched footage ever. I wonder if they will try something like that for a mars mission. NASA could probably fund the whole thing by having microsoft plastered on everything...but what am I talking about...any rocket with microsoft software would probably fail spectacularly. :)

    My understanding of the el nino weather patern is simply "something pretty weird is going on lately" causing droughts were there shouldnt be and ditto with floods. given that this odity will be in only say 40% (or the last 20 years) of the data they are fitting wont any extrapolations be pointless.Add that to global warming and i am seeing wasted CPU cycles

    If ie is monitorring what you do on something as trivial as a type of music format then that means that it "is" monitoring you. Now they have more of a liability in general. I know it is far fetched but ms only defence when their products are being used for kiddie porn or to cicumvent national security is that they dont monitor what goes thru ie. Now they cant use this defence because they "are" monitoring ie they have already removed thier own "moral" objections to monitoring their customers.

    I think that perhaps this is a bit more of a step because at the stage you are talking about they wanted publicity and images of the dogs "intelligently" playing soccer are good for sales.
    But this is really open and publicity from what most people will get the dogs to do is not good, i mean there are alredy posts suggesting aibo mounting a leg...definately not good as far as Sony are concerned

    That is quite a good point.
    if it is decided that a countries jurisdiction does extend indefinately up then there may be a scramble to claim heavenly bodies as they "pass through" national airspace, especially for nations which have antarctic territories as any heavenly bodies in that airspace would always be there and claims would be permanent

    I dont think he was expecting to get paid.
    I think what he was poining out was that literally, for his help he should have expected gratitude (perhaps in the form of an email?) however in actuality his bug fix made apple more aware of his "activities" and they shut him down
    This is a form of irony as the literal meaning is the opposite of the actual meaning

    perhaps i was a little obtuse
    what i was sugesting is that i dont like the idea of patenting a "look and feel" as you put it
    it just seems a little loose and could *concievably* by applied to painting a car
    a bit like harley patenting the sound of their bikes

    I think this is absolute nonesense.
    In its barest sense they are tring to enforce their "ownership" on a mix of colors. What if i was to paint my car like a mac desktop.
    Would they come after me?

    Patent laws are just getting more and more ridiculous, especially with regards to electronics
    its like the guy here in australia who patented the wheel

    I am a coder and rarely play games and for what I use it for linux is supreme....but I must admit that when I do try to play games on linux it is just a pain in the arse. I really think that the market for linux platform games is limited to Quake and this will not sell many at all.

    If I remember back to high school physics that means the universe is "closed" and there is gunna be a big crunch. I think that means we are screwed(in avery eventual sense) Can anyone correct or confirm this?
