I dont think he will ever get any elemental Francium. If i remember back to high school it is EXTREEEEEEEEEEMELY rare because it oxidises (i think thats chemisteese for burns) in sunlight. HANG ON all geeks are made of Francium...we burn in sunlight. So...whos gunna send him a finger?
you are kidding i hope. they just went through an extreemely publisised merger so their servers are probably already strained. The/. crowd could easily tip the scales
you know what the really suckie thing about that is... when it comes to meta moderation everyone will assume that it was already posted and mark it as fair. I think that the moderation system should come with a REASON for when it is to be meta-moderated. then when the moderater put something stupid like "it is the same as what was on the link" they will be meta moderated to hell
If I went back 15 years I sure as hell wouldnt be telling people anything.I'd be buying shares *devilish grin*

Looking at the photo acompanying the article something occured to me. The advertising on the suits what a great idea. I mean could you imagine if in the sixties you had the fore sight to have your corporate logo plastered on Neil Armstrongs arse. The most watched footage ever. I wonder if they will try something like that for a mars mission. NASA could probably fund the whole thing by having microsoft plastered on everything...but what am I talking about...any rocket with microsoft software would probably fail spectacularly.:)
My understanding of the el nino weather patern is simply "something pretty weird is going on lately" causing droughts were there shouldnt be and ditto with floods. given that this odity will be in only say 40% (or the last 20 years) of the data they are fitting wont any extrapolations be pointless.Add that to global warming and i am seeing wasted CPU cycles
After reading the article the impression i get is that it is like in a fast food joint where the Combo meal (burger fries and drink) is like 10 cents less than Burger and fries alone
If ie is monitorring what you do on something as trivial as a type of music format then that means that it "is" monitoring you. Now they have more of a liability in general. I know it is far fetched but ms only defence when their products are being used for kiddie porn or to cicumvent national security is that they dont monitor what goes thru ie. Now they cant use this defence because they "are" monitoring ie they have already removed thier own "moral" objections to monitoring their customers.
I think that perhaps this is a bit more of a step because at the stage you are talking about they wanted publicity and images of the dogs "intelligently" playing soccer are good for sales. But this is really open and publicity from what most people will get the dogs to do is not good, i mean there are alredy posts suggesting aibo mounting a leg...definately not good as far as Sony are concerned
I wonder exactly how much thought is given to people missing fingers or with deformities.
Probably none.
I bet it wont make mainstream for that reason no matter how cool it is.
the whole article struck me as a little bit "telemarket shopping"ish i think i will reserve judgement untill i see one in action
mind you, a monitor on the wall would be nice:)
OH NO!!!!!
now what am I going to do?
now i am not safe anywhere from the government tracking me with GPS
They must have grown suspicous during my occasional trips to the mother ship
now we will be found out
*sigh*
i knew the anal probing days had to come to an end
That is quite a good point.
if it is decided that a countries jurisdiction does extend indefinately up then there may be a scramble to claim heavenly bodies as they "pass through" national airspace, especially for nations which have antarctic territories as any heavenly bodies in that airspace would always be there and claims would be permanent
I dont think he was expecting to get paid.
I think what he was poining out was that literally, for his help he should have expected gratitude (perhaps in the form of an email?) however in actuality his bug fix made apple more aware of his "activities" and they shut him down
This is a form of irony as the literal meaning is the opposite of the actual meaning
perhaps i was a little obtuse
what i was sugesting is that i dont like the idea of patenting a "look and feel" as you put it
it just seems a little loose and could *concievably* by applied to painting a car
a bit like harley patenting the sound of their bikes
I think this is absolute nonesense.
In its barest sense they are tring to enforce their "ownership" on a mix of colors. What if i was to paint my car like a mac desktop.
Would they come after me?
Could they come after me?
Patent laws are just getting more and more ridiculous, especially with regards to electronics
its like the guy here in australia who patented the wheel
I am a coder and rarely play games and for what I use it for linux is supreme....but I must admit that when I do try to play games on linux it is just a pain in the arse. I really think that the market for linux platform games is limited to Quake and this will not sell many at all.
Yes that is what i mean, there are now new observations which may mean a crunch
as for the 18 % quoted in the comment above this is 18 % of dark matter which i dont think is what i asked
If I remember back to high school physics that means the universe is "closed" and there is gunna be a big crunch.
I think that means we are screwed(in avery eventual sense)
Can anyone correct or confirm this?

Remember the hindenburg? After it blew everyone stopped using hydrogen in ballons. Imagain the bad press Microsoft would get.
True...but hydrogen is not a corporate entity with lawyers spin doctors and money up the yin yang

amusing but not criminal

Yeah but that sort of thing is the hallmarks of a really good joke. Just add enough superficial crap for it to be believable

the thread of discusion is called last ever patch but it is refering to updates which may include those things
Maybe they are going to "auto update" maps or mods or something.

The way I gauge how to trust is as follows
Ask for email address without apparent reason=back away slowly avoiding eye contact
Others=trust

I would bet my last dollar that Erwin is somehow responsible.....
