Sorry for the threadjack (thank you for ensuring that 99% of the slashdot crowd is looking intently upon the thread), but here's soem relevant info that should be near the top.
As of the time of my post, the original text of the article (at least I -THINK- it's the original text) is available here
Slashdotters may resume the lesbian thread now, thank you for your time (hope I didn't kill anyones chubber).
For the mod points too.. I'm sure some kind hearted (or ruthlessly evil, given the content) soul will mod you informative for your troubles. I would, had I not precluded my chance to do so by posting this request.

You shouldn't be so proud of the fact that you're a stronger flavor of douche than someone else.
Until this point I hadn't considered the fact that my laptop battery degrading to the point of *immediate power-off when plug is pulled* could be a feature.
You're right, but you're missing the First Law breach that would have taken place...
See, several days ago, one of the engineers placed the line
// if this damn thing breaks again, I'm going to blow my brains out
into one of the more 'temperamental' functions. The robot read it's source (as everyone on slashdot knows, all robots read their own source code in their efforts towards self awareness, and thus, their preannointed overlord positions), but took the word 'thing' in the comments too literally (robots have problems with metaphorical language) and thought the engineer was talking about the lander itself....
*ppfffftt* First Law Fuse pops, horrible jokes that pass on slashdot as hilarity ensues.
I mean, you're trying to be cute, but if you roll the die a thousand times hoping that NEXT TIME it'll wash your dishes instead of providing the information on one of the die's faces, you've touched upon what the GP is talking about.
That, and Civ4 as mentioned above are my bread and butter of TBS. I also highly enjoy the game Hearts of Iron 2 and it's expansions. I don't know how it's classified, as it's a nice mix of real-time and turn based. It's real-time at it's core, but you can make decisions while paused (thank $DEITY) and plays like Axis and Allies (or super-ultra-hyper Risk for the uninitiated).
These programs (and my horrible horrible experiences with WINE about 10 years ago, which I am finally getting ready to overcome) are the sole reason I have a Windows partition and, sadly, I don't play them as much anymore as a consequence.
It's insidious. I mean, I knew he had to have huge BALLS to pull the stuff he has, but I thought his level of aggression was usually associated with a specific type of 'low self esteem', so to speak. From the pic it appears that I was horribly horribly wrong.
I agree with everything you said IN THEORY, however it's been my experience that things don't work out that way in PRACTICE. I have nothing but (quite a bit of) personal circumstantial evidence to back up my beliefs though.
Yeah, and as an aside, don't you just love how when you read a report on any Taser incident, the police never mention the LAW, it's always about POLICY. Think about that, they are concerned with POLICY over LAW, something you would expect from a for-profit industry trying to maximize gains, but from a government agency specifically designed to uphold the LAW?
I know, some people are going to say that they follow policy which is more strict than the law, to which I call bullshit. If -I- were to taser you for noncompliance, I go to jail, because of my lack of a State Authorized shiny piece of tin on my chest. It's really that simple, just because you're a cop, doesn't mean you can break the law, the only instances of special treatment allowed by law are those bits that are actually CODIFIED into the law, anything else is abusing your position (that position being that it's far less likely to be arrested). I highly doubt that there are laws allowing you to physically harm someone who is not breaking any laws, but it seems that many police officers mistakenly think that whatever they tell you to do IS law.
The best geography tutorial I've ever had was a game called Hearts of Iron 2. Nothing like learning about the names and basic geographical features of the world while moving various types of military units across the landscape. Cursing a province with mountains by name as your troops take months to march and/or roll through them makes it memorable, especially if you lose your beachhead because your goofy MechInf decides to take 2 weeks going a distance that would take them 2 days, if it were plains they are crossing.
Yeah, what you said, but I'd like to add something about bandwidth. It's a function of data per time period, and I'd think that having a higher interconnection speed could very well lead to a quickening of thought process, ONLY if the underlying signal PROCESSING nodes can keep up, and since AFAIK that's a more complicated chemical process it would seem to me that it would be difficult to adjust it. 'Uppers' can make your thought process faster, but I have no idea about what mechanisms determine the upper limits of what speed (in the pharmaceutical sense) can do. Interesting thought though, and I think I might wiki that tomorrow.
This article is about TEXAS, the person trying to describe authoritarian mindsets as a strictly liberal phenomenon is fully aware of his/her trolling, and will not be assuaged by any type of logic. Best to just point out the (extremely) fundamental flaw in their rant, preferably with heavy derision, and go on about your day.
Yeah, I found it right after making this post, and threw a link up myself, having hijacked some good-ole' lesbianism to make it more visible.
That post was for the AC who is taking this all a little too seriously.

Thank you HP!
As someone who is interested in software neural nets, this announcement practically gives me a chubber.
And let me be the first to welcome our new Distributed Overlord. The lack of an 's' on "Overlord" is the exciting part of this article.

Heh, I guess ya can't ALWAYS be right. :-D
... converting CRLF to newlines...?
Semetic, just like the Arabs are.
Not that there's enough differentiation in the human genome between the 'races' to matter much, but you asked.
Draw derisive laughter from knowledgeable peers?
I consider stellar core fragments to be 'free imported pre-processed solar power', so it all falls under the banner of solar to me.
I think the term you're looking for is "Rick California Roll".

Create a "strong" web presence so everyone would know he was Jewish instead of Hispanic...?
Nope, not even close...
Next question?

Oooooo, we can use the Chunk O' Brain we took out to finally get a computer to have that neat 'enhance' feature too. :-D
You took the bait...

The liberal mindset...
Don't I know it. I'm sick of that bastion of liberal ideas, Texas, running all over our good Godfearin system.
