    Microsoft and proprietary software. What is good for Microsoft and proprietary software conflicts with a lot of good charitable work.

    Giving any poor organization the first copy of Microsoft software for no cost isn't going to help them in the long term.

    To do this, he needs to get rid of his stake in Microsoft stock.

    This problem isn't something you can just update your system to fix. This means the basis for all remote authentication on your Debian/Ubuntu machines is compromised until you go and fix it manually.

    Citizens have produced some great scientific discoveries with little (or self) training. They should be treated as peers in the review process.

    100 years from now. Do you thing proprietary software has a chance in hell? It just is not sustainable to have every business, school, and government paying 1 provider of software for an operating system.

    The school district I grew up at pays MS $400,000 every year for the software assurance program (and then $75,000 to Symantec to secure it). The total budget is about 150 Million. This can not be sustained.

    Windows can not compete with Linux. That's why they use lock-in, FUD, etc.

    You have to be administrator to modify/delete/etc the boot.ini file. Most home users run windows with full admin, as that is the default, which you can blame on MS if you want.
