And it's people like you who are impeding cancer and other medical research that could inevitably save lives. If you had any scientific knowledge you would know oil is not renewable because it is made of decomposed "fossils" (hence "fossil fuels"). There are not unlimited "fossils" on this planet. Your speaking gibberish to make a very invalid point.
Scientific research MUST be publically funded, otherwise it wouldn't get funded at all. The government doesn't want it, the people force it. Your right about scientists being grant hunters, but they have to be. They have a theory they want to prove, they need money to do it. No company/corperation will fund it unless it directly interests them, which is rarely the case. Especially with medical reasearch, as drug companies are making a fortune off of drugs they give cancer patients, thus many drug companies are not funding research for it in large ammounts.
In my opinion, scientific research is greatly underfunded. I would gladly pay more taxes if it meant actually getting research done and saving more lives.
I personally don't think the volume increase in theaters is related to hearing loss. People like their movies loud -- I know I do. I also don't go to punk concerts on a regular basis because I just like the music style, but the loud music really gets the adrenaline going. Can be relaxing in a way.
As for the airplanes. I don't know. Maybe all the old people complained about not being able to hear the pilot (Baby Boomers, right?).
I had some old earbud headphones in which the left earbud was dead, and didn't have the time/money to buy new ones. I used them for months with my CD Player, and when I finally did get new headphones, I found my right-ear isn't as good as it use to be. I got new ones about 2 months ago, but my ear still isn't at "peak efficiency". Won't make that mistake twice.
Oh, but it is "better technology". Mostly what I meant by "ahead in technology" was to reference the 65nm process. Which, inherintly, is a big step in chip development, and has alot of potential. However, what I was trying to get across, was I don't think Intel developed and pushed this technology as far as they could have, thus lack of quality. I believe AMD will do so, as they have done so in the past.
About time Intel made a processor that gives the AMD 64 a run for it's money. But even though the new processor is using a smaller process, more L2 cache, and faster clock speeds, the AMD still comes out on top. Makes you realize how far ahead Intel is in technology, and yet how far behind they are in quality. I garuntee the next AMD X2 chips will feature the same 65nm process, and once again it will take Intel 1-2 years to make something that even comes close to it's rival.
(Thanks to PG&E I had to type this twice. Incompetant mother fuckers)
Blu-Ray is clearly the better format. It can hold more, and has faster read times (theoretically, havn't seen stats yet). The only reason HD-DVD has alot of interest is because it's cheaper to produce, and requires only small modifications to current DVD players. More evidance that in the current capitalist buisness world, quality is the least important factor in anything. Money is the bottom line.
They really aren't loosing many people. First you have to account for the small percentage of people who have a TiVo-type device that allows them to do this. Then out of those people, what tiny percent are technology-literate enough to figure out HOW to skip commercials while still being able to watch it as it airs.
To me it just seems an excuse to advertise even more when it's not neccessary. Brings in more advertising dollars to the TV networks.
The current version of Konfabulator I use (not Yahoo) works perfectly. I gartunee any upgrade will cause my resource consumption to increase exponentially.
I fail to see how anybody can be an "Expert" at something that is nothing more than a couple lines of code and a function or two. People seem to attribute "AJAX" to an entire javascript feature, when the part of the code that is actually "AJAX" is so small it's not worth mentioning. Not the mention the term AJAX seems overused and more complicated than it really is. It's basic javascript, nothing fancy or advanced or special.
There's way too much hype over such a small thing. It gets annoying.
If this software/service follows the same trends as the rest of their products, Microsoft will once again be punted by somebody who takes the same concept one step further. Futher more, Microsoft will some how find a way to make this peice of software so insecure that sombody from India will be able to edit your RSS files. Then Microsoft will claim blasphemy and be yelled at by screaming Linux geeks.
I don't want the thing downloading Backstreet Boys, or even worse... getting Dashboard Confessional from some emo kid.
*shivers* Scary thought.
The Google Video Player (currently only available through Google Pack) is really slick. The Google Pack itself is slick. Very nicely made.
Go Google!
Taking 8 hits of acid and watching The Exorcist.
Very dangerous idea.

...cause I didn't think of it first. :(
It's so simple! *bangs head on table*

Procrastination is like masturbation; you're only fucking yourself.
Either way, they are just a clump of cells. AND SO ARE YOU
Basic Biology. Learned that in 8th grade, dude.
Surprised they didn't yell at each other. Or maybe they did and he left that out of the article.
True. There are alot of potential benifits on both sides, but exactly what will come out of this has yet to be seen.
We'll just have to wait and hope for the best.
AOL has a reputation of being a bad ISP, and also creating bad software for it's users. Will this move help AOL, or hurt Google?
This could get interesting. (fp?)
We'll definetly need it!
Ironic... as that is a perfect example of facism.

Erego; pointless.
