No, you are watching another human perform something. That is what is interesting, and while watching you could think to yourself, how would it feel if I was doing that...? With a machine you can't do that - because a machine does things differently then you.
I totally agree, I use W2K both at work and at home. The only app I that I wanted to run, but couldn't was Adobe Premiere. Can't remember the version, but it insisted on having WinXP installed. In any case, that wasn't enough to persuade me to upgrade.
I didn't mean 5 years worth of data, but rather that there is a period of 5 years during which car companies can record any kind of data about the car/driver that they want, and they don't have to tell you about it. Although the article suggest only a few seconds (minutes?) before a crash a recorded, this isn't absolutely clear. And since there are no regulations now, there is nothing stopping companies from performing more invasive logging.
As other posts mention, a car mechanic could potentially access this data and give it to anyone. Whether this is good or bad can be left up to our imaginations.
Good point, I am still running Windows 2000 on my main home machine. I just have found no need to upgrade + I have so many applications installed that it would probably take me a month to reconfigure my system after upgrading. A second machine I purchased came with XP but that machine is running linux now anyway.
I don't know either -- but i think it has something to do with leaving it running for a long time. I have 3 tabs open, and it's using 124 MB of memory. But this same instance of FF has been running for at least 3 days straight. (I usually don't turn off my computer at work).
How is the parent a troll?
Some people have no sense of humour.
While it is nice that SFII (and some other old games) are coming out for the 360 and other systems - who cares? We bought them / played and them already. They should be free this time around.
i would want to know if child porn was censored. if something exists then we shouldn't pretend it doesn't.
as for your second point, most likely the user will be the cat.

Actually yes, in my CS Human Computer Interaction course, along with many other UI approaches that are now being introduced into the mainstream.
If you're so worried about assholes hitting you than you can buy your own insurance. Don't force me to buy it if i don't want it.
For real, I've always hated apple. Over priced and closed systems.
So it is an acronym then?
why, now that you ask, yes, yes i have

5 years of collecting any kind of data we want, without telling anyone!
IANAC (I am not a chemist) but this guy seems to make a pretty solid arguement: http://www.interesting-people.org/archives/interes ting-people/200608/msg00087.html

The end already happened when star trek enterprise was released.
I think you misunderstood the parent.
He is saying:
"Open the door" - fails
"Open door" - works
The system can't tell that the above two are essentially the same command.
I've been AIMing for years, and I can write a coherent sentance
Hi,
No entry found for sentance.
Did you mean sentence?
Aiming at what?
what the hell are you trying to say? speak english!

Opera 9 passes the Acid2 test - that means firefox is not tied for the lead.
I wish i had mod points. well said.
I always thought Carmeggedon 2 should have been disturbing, but i found it funny instead. I did find Quarantine disturbing though.

Does it make you feel better to you're just your daddy's jizz?
