I find it amusing that he talks about how if you have fewer friends you feel "inferior". I laugh at people with several hundred friends because I know that all those "friendships" are horribly shallow (and mostly consist of just getting drunk without ever actually having a conversation) and that the person who has all those people friended will have a very pathetic life once they finish school and don't have frat parties to go to every night.
Well if you're going to talk about "oversimplifying" things and poor languages, then I certainly hope that you write all of your code in perfectly optimized assembly. Otherwise, you're a hypocrite.
are colleges being paid by the RIAA to aid them in suing students? I wouldn't be surprised if the schools were taking a cut - they'll do anything for money.
I've never known anyone to talk about notebooks when saying pc's are cheaper - they're talking about desktops. This seems like a deliberate attempt to skew things in favor of the mac. I'm not biased against mac's either - I'd love to buy a MacBook Pro, but I haven't had the excess cash to justify buying another computer yet.
Why? Why are you so terrified of people not wanting the government to just order them around like slaves? True, if we had freedom you'd be completely responsible for your actions and wouldn't be able to sue people for hundreds of millions of dollars because you did something stupid and they just happened to be around when you did it. Freedom can be scary at first, but just like you learn to stop feeling like an idiot when doing adult things after entering college, you'd learn to be comfortable running your own life if the government pissed off and did their ACTUAL job of keeping us from getting killed / robbed instead of thinking that they're god and we're just their little toys to play with.
"Make Net businesses compete on the same level as their brick-and-mortar counterparts."
They do. Unless you manage to get the "super saver shipping" on Amazon (which is normally only offered on higher priced items and takes a couple of weeks to arrive), once you figure in shipping you're normally paying the same amount as if you drove to the store and bought it. The difference? Online stores has a hell of a lot more selection. I'd rather drive to the store and buy it today. Unfortunately, most stores don't carry the movies or books I want, not to mention parts for building a new pc that aren't ridiculously over priced.
Except if MS included AV, they'd be sued. Now, I don't know how your logic works, but for the rest of the world you don't do something that you know will get you sued (successfully because the government wants money) for hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars.
It also doesn't specify the number of people in this trial. For all we know it was one person who they noticed this on. Also, even if you have a lot of people, most people are conditioned from a young age that you enjoy giving things away because it's the "right" thing to do. If it was really hardwired like they claim, how come children have to be taught to share? If they really want to test if it's hardwired, you need to do the study on children that haven't been taught that you do X to be good and Y to be bad.
What we "get" out of harming ourselves for someone else's benefit is society saying "Hey, you're great - now if you really want to be considered a good person, you'll give one of your eyes so that this blind person can have one working eye.....". Altruism is the ultimate form of greed - you convince someone that in order for them to be considered good they have to harm themselves for your benefit / the benefit of someone or something that you care about. It does nothing but prey upon people's innate desire to be accepted.
Your examples in the last part of your post are NOT altruism because the person gains something for what they give up (for example - person A wants a cure for breast cancer because they have it or a high risk of it so they donate money to breast cancer research). Your example regarding kayaking is actually a selfish endeavor - you want people to say "hey, you're good" (or whatever wording you prefer), so you do things that you know society will say are good.
People are rarely "hungry for any chance to help others" - they're hungry for society to tell them that they're wonderful. In other words, they're merely hungry for acceptance.
The one glaring error in the conspiracy argument is that they fail to acknowledge the structural supports that were destroyed when the planes smashed into the buildings. Even if their claim that fire couldn't have done that damage is true (I can't say one way or another), fire PLUS a lot more weight being placed on the (remaining) structure than it was ever built to hold will result in a collapse. Once the top X number of floors start crashing down, they're going to take a hell of a lot with them.
Oh, another huge thing - they point to WC 7 as proof because it was blown up - yet it's public knowledge that the fire department intentionally destroyed the building. I saw a guy one time screaming "IT WAS BLOWN UP! THE PLANES DIDN'T DO THAT!" and the Fire Chief (or some official) saying "Yes, we intentionally blew that one building up".
No, no, a better one would be for someone to kill his wife and leave a note saying "Video games don't make me kill people - assholes like Jack Thompson make me kill people". Then he'd have to suffer for the rest of his life knowing that she died purely because he was an asshole. It's not about killing a person, it's about destroying them. =)
....or as Thomas Jefferson said "A total democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine".
Lets say that people in the UK actually were allowed to vote on this (though I doubt it) - just because 50.0001% of people want it does not mean that everyone wants it.
I'm well aware that they shouldn't. I'm merely pointing out that this is not further violating your rights. Trust me, I can go on for days straight about all the injustices the government commits against us.
This isn't violating your privacy any more than it already is already violated - the government can track your credit card purchases just as easily as they could track purchases with a drivers license / debit card combo. Now, if they ever get rid of cash, then you'd have problems because you'd never be able to buy ANYTHING without being tracked.
"MacDonalds was serving coffee too hot, and as a result, a woman who spilled her coffee was seriously burned."
Actually that's not true. McDonald's coffee (at least in that incident) was about 20 degrees F cooler than what Starbucks serves. I don't think I need to mention the lack of lawsuits against Starbucks, despite their coffee being hotter.
"why isnt this the case everywhere else?"
Because there are a few countries left where people at least have one or two rights left. Don't worry though, we'll be like the UK and have no rights here in the US pretty soon.
"People have done research into this - these devices are just about as dangerous as being legally drunk."
That's a horribly flawed argument (I've heard it before many places, including on Mythbusters) because it works with the assumption that you will put your conversation above intelligent driving. You can always tune out the person you're talking to (if it's a headset) and you need to concentrate more, say "I'll call you back" and hang up, or if you're actually holding the phone throw it in your lap / on the passenger seat if you need both hands. Every example I've seen of "research" on this did NOT allow people to just get rid of the phone or stop talking - they were forced to have the phone in one hand AND talk the whole time while driving. In the real world, people with even a modicum of common sense will just ditch the phone if it's actually posing a danger and then call the person back when they're just cruising down the highway again. You can't just "hang up" or "drop it on the floor" when you're drunk.
The joke is about how you see all these people jogging with iPods. Therefore (using flawed logic), only people who jog use iPods. We obviously know that this isn't true, and that was the joke. I never said it was a good joke, just a joke!
"Discrimination when harmfully applied to other people is hate and bigotry."
So, along with wanting to eliminate choices / opinions that you don't approve of, you want to eliminate emotions you don't approve of as well? Also, unless you're robbing / attacking someone, you are NOT harming them. Saying "sorry, you're German" and not hiring them is NOT harming a person, despite what your collectivist delusions will tell you.
"Here's your sign... you may be a bigot if you consider yourself more important (in any way) than others."
You mean considering yourself so important that you should be in control of what choices / opinions / emotions people are allowed to have? =)

The first thing they do in the morning is masturbate of course!

Well what the hell is someone with a pacemaker doing jogging in the first place? It could kill them!

someone who doesn't like the king did (and it's probably safe to assume they're Thai). I'll be extremely shocked if this goes anywhere at all.
