look, i used to play eve, so im no hater.. but ive always felt icky about using an oddity of the game mechanics (that you bounce off things rather than crashing) as a legitimate space combat tactic. eve players regularly run into another players ship just to bounce them away from safety, such as a stations dock or a jump gate, as if ship webbers and warp disruptors were not enough. heaven forbid you might have to chase your target!
im hoping the point of this is that itll be a combined multinational effort. theres no way that the US could do this alone, especially not in this day and age. dont be afraid to let india, china, and japan pitch in with the various tech that will be needed in this endevour. the more cooperation we have in the world (and outside of it), the better.
hi, have you ever played the Myst series? no? id suggest you do so, so that the next you feel compelled to make a comment on this topic, you have a much greater understanding of games that do not need death to be enjoyable.
I had an NF7-S for 5 years, and recently gave that PC to my parents. Still going strong, despite a northbridge fansink which never spun its entire life. Otherwise outstanding board.
...would be solar concentrator stirling engine technology. Backyard inventors around the world are tinkering with this stuff (including myself), and some private companies are beginning to develop farm-capable dishes in the order of 5m diameter.
The only really irritating problem is the fact that stirling engines have a theoretical 100% efficiency, yet we are currently nowhere close to that with current technology/metalurgy. While we will never be able to attain 100%, close to it should be doable with R&D investment.
Thanks, Ive done a ton of research, but found nothing really dealing with the characteristics of the pistons themselves, and how this determines power output - and crank diameter.
While this story is up, Id like to get some questions answered. Im trying to design and build a beta-type stirling engine to be hooked up to a solar collector dish of diameter 1.8m, and would love some input.
Does anyone know the ideal dimension ratios of the displacer and power pistons, and the piston strokes? Or are there no real rules at all?
so you are saying that because someone was getting paid per registration, and this person filled out a couple of cards fraudulently, that acorn is now a dangerous and criminal organisation? please. if anything, it makes the contractor in breach of his/her contract, and possibly up for prosecution. nothing to do with acorn.
i realise this internet we have encourages free speech, and i would never try to oppose that, but come on dude. put your prejudices aside before you make bold sweeping statements about a third party.
Id like to start by saying I have not been one of those raising their voices to high heaven about this, but this has changed my mind.
I just cant believe the nerve of this guy. It just shows how profits matter more than the opinion of the people playing his games. I think that says that its time for him to step away from the games industry, as its fairly obvious hes got no connection to actual gamers, and hence his customers, anymore.
Despite his figures, which have no evidence and sound typically press released, there is no doubting that there will be a large group of people (including me now) who will refuse to buy another EA game until this DRM is done away with. I dont mind CD/DVD protection at all, so long as the following conditions are met:
a) I can be guaranteed that I play said game in 50 years time with no problems. b) The installation program does not install rouge drivers and stealth programs onto my system. I have control of my system, not you EA. c) Internet connectivity should NOT be required to play a single player game.
Address the above, and assuming you attitude to gamers has changed somewhat, and I will consider buying your games again. Until then, I will look elsewhere. The indy game dev crowd looks quite good at the moment.
i agree completely, and i am not complaining. i am simply pointing out, as you just did, that people all over the world have less capable connections to the internet than the US.
this isnt about technology. its about what people complain about, and the article is complaining about world class data caps! a bit rich imo, when i just explained that other people have much less and dont complain.
The US has amazing net connections compared to other places in the world. 250gb cap? In New Zealand, we have to live with 40gb, and thats a lot here.. I opted for more data over more speed. We also speeds of 4m/160k up/dn. We just rolled out ADSL2+, with some people getting near 24mbit/s, but you have to live ridiculously close to the exchange to get anything over 12mbit/s. Most people get less.
If I could pay what I pay now, for 250gb and better speeds, Id be most happy with it.
ill bite: i think youre being a little unfair. considering that no other private space-flight company has ever achieved an orbit in space (as opposed to suborbit), this is a monumental achievement. the gemini programs had their fair share of failures too, yet i dont hear anything but admiration and pride in the people involved there.
i say well done, SpaceX! this is a moment in history - no longer is spaceflight limited to governmental agencies. usher in the era privately funded space access, and may that lead to mass produced spacecraft for private use!
i dont know about you, but piracy these days is a piece of proverbial piss.
1) download iso 2) mount iso, install game 3) enter cd key in.nfo file included with iso 4) copy crack from CRACK dir in cd root dir 5) enjoy your game without DRM
do the above, and you will have pre-2000 gaming experience with regards to copy protection. its amazing that these companies still actually think their DRM actually stops pirates. as i recall, spore was released to the pirate community days before the actual release. if it can be cracked, it will be. why punish the actual customers?
it gets far worse in chinese..
+1, Should become a writer

but were on slashdot already!
thats what they WANT you to believe!

"Don't be the laughingstock of your friends when you shout 'Happy New Years' a second too early ... this year will be exactly one second longer."
So... wouldnt we be shouting it one second later than everyone else?
Tekken 4 is not a flight sim. Try Hello Kitty Online Adventures. Now THAT is the ultimate flight simulator.
Wait.. what?

what freaky women do you date??

Curious, why 33cc in particular?
My design will be a rhombic drive beta btw.

DUFFMAN does duly agree with you! OH YEAH!

discussion on this topic could fill a small plastic jar.
so basicly you mean... to drive fuel-efficiently, you need to drive fuel-efficiently. yea, that makes sense.

do i even need to comment on this?
