I'm able to run BioShock without any issues and Supreme Commander on medium settings. Yet, I've never managed to get Stalker to run without stuttering. Unfortunate since it sounded like an interesting game.
Gah. I bought Puzzle Quest and played it for a few hours. I ended up selling to my cousin because I was bored out of my mind. My wife LOVES puzzle games and she was the one to suggest that we get rid of it. I'm glad you enjoy it, but I just couldn't get into it.
I really couldn't decide on one game, so I made a list. The one central theme this year (for me) is fun. I've enjoyed just about every genre over the years, so was really looking for something different.
PC: BioShock. I know many people will disagree, but the story and setting of BioShock made it a blast to play. Loads of fun from start to finish.
DS: Zelda, Phantom Hourglass. I'm currently about 3/4 finished with the newest Zelda rendition and I'm having a hard time putting it down. The control scheme took a bit to get used to, but it has proved to be a very enjoyable change. Also, the graphics are striking considering that it is a DS game.
Wii: I'd like to vote for Mario Galaxy, but I haven't had enough time to play it. My vote will probably go to Metroid Prime 3. The controls are fantastic and I would repurchase 1 & 2 if they were released with Wii controls for around $25-30 each. I'm also looking forward to Zack & Wiki.
Card/Board game: Munchkin Bites. I'm sure more than a few here have had the pleasure of Munchkin, but I didn't find it until a couple of months ago. I brought that and Bang! (card game) with to a party and both were great fun.
The 360 has been out for over two years. The Wii has been out for just over a year. Add the fact that most developers thought the Wii would bomb and the lack of titles isn't surprising. Give it time and you will see an abundance. Also, I strongly disagree out the Wiis graphics. Metroid Prime 3 is beautiful.
I bought a Asus laptop for my wife a couple months ago. Nice 15" ultra bright screen. 1.6 Pentium M, 1 gig ram, 80 gig hard drive. $400. I was tempted to purchase a EEE until the price kept going up.
You have obviously never worked in the manufacturing sector. It basically comes down to the old adage; "fast, cheap or good. Pick two." I would wager that the only way to boost production is to add additional production lines to existing facilities or to build new factories. New production lines are constrained by power and floor space. New factories require months (6-9) to build and start up.
My experience has been the exact opposite. I'm a gamer, but my friends, relatives and wife are not. I bought one at launch because I thought it looked fun. I had it set up at Christmas and New Year's eve. Both night were a smash hit because of the Wii and several friends and relatives sought out their own to purchase. One never purchased anything beyond the Wii and three additional remotes. The rest have continued to purchase games like Excite truck, Mario party, Need for speed and Rayman's raving rabbids(very fun).
Personally, I don't fret at the drought. I own Zelda, Metroid Prime 3, Rayman, Wii play and Paper Mario. Between those games and my PC, I have more than enough to fill what little spare time that I manage find. I think you under estimate the hands on 'fun factor' that drives people to purchase the Wii.
I'm not condoning the murder of this individual. However, I believe that society has a right to be protected from people who simply will not abide by the rules that others have agreed upon. There is a difference between a person accused of assaulting someone and a person who has committed multiple assaults which are proven by physical evidence. The latter has already proven that they were incapable following the law or any sense of moral behavior and they should not be sent back to prey upon the unsuspecting public.
The 'herky jerky' isn't in the mouse, it's your hand. I played through Bioshock on the PC and strolled around marveling at the richness of the environments. Each game experience is what you make of it. Also, my midrange PC is more than capable of 720P. Perhaps you're simply letting your bias show as I am?
Let me start by saying that I love MP3. However, the controls are not perfect. I really enjoy the aiming accuracy and would purchase MP 1 and 2 if they re-issued with the wii controls. The issue that I have is the gestures. They work around 97% of the time, but that 3% annoys the the hell of out me.
They could if they chose to allow it. Xbox live, PSN and the Wii store could all house small/indy games. It may not be as profitable, but the day may come where we have a console that we can EASILY use for email, gaming, surfing the web, etc.
"Really, child molesters are pretty harmless if everyone KNOWS they're child molesters."
Dog owners put up fences to protect the dog and their neighbors. If a dog bites several people, we all agree that it has violent tendencies and we put it down. The same should be true for anyone that can not learn to control their impulses.
I don't feel disgusted by or fearful of someone with down syndrome. Child molesters may have an illness, but the effects are felt by the victims.
What kind of sex offenders? Child molesters, rapists, some idiot teenager who streaked his college campus? All three are lumped together (and they shouldn't be), but how many of each type repeat?
So what's the solution then? I'm not a republican, but I do believe that sex offenders (not teenagers having sex, real sex offenders) should be locked away from society.
I don't fault them for taking their time to finish the game. I fault them for announcing it WAY before it was ready. I realize that they are feeling the pressure and needed to drum up some hype, but hype gets old real fast. There's a good reason why they start showing movie trailers a 2-4 weeks before the movie debuts.
You should really check out the reviews for Medal of Honor Heroes 2. They basically say that it has great precision and is very responsive. As with all consoles, the games get better as time moves on.
"You can't use sales of video game consoles and say that the market is opening up."
I fully agree with you, but I think you're missing a key factor. The next big AAA game will sell 1 million copies. The next 'big' casual pc game (snood, geometry wars, etc) will sell a couple of thousand copies. Maybe a bit more. However, there are a LOT more casual games released than AAA and there are a lot more casual gamers. We're starting to see casual gamers migrating from the PC to the DS and Wii. If publishers examine the PC business model, they stand to make massive profits.
I played around with the settings, but I eventually decided that it wasn't worth my time.

I used to visit GameSpot occasionally for guides or news. I know I'm not alone in moving over to 1up or Joystiq. I voted with my (advertising) dollar.
Everyone knows that gun fighters getter better as they age.
We've been teased for 10 years. Most people consider the game a joke that has lost its humor long ago.

Thieves take something against your will. Perhaps politicians would be a more apt... wait a minute.
Thanks. I'm not sure that it's worth $50, but I'll take look at it.
I hear that your can get those from strippers by the airport..

This one of the primary reasons why I still love Quake 3 tournament. The AI bots are pretty challenging. More so than any current FPS.
