Not to mention, I know that USB and 12V adapters are readily available for DS, DS-Lite, and DSi slots, so one for the 3DS should come soon. The input is probably pretty standard 5V in. Assembling a car adapter that doesn't require converting to AC, then back to DC would be simple.

I typically had my brightness turned down to minimum, unless in bright sun. In fact, that's how I deal with all of my handhelds. I don't keep track of how much I get from my DS Lite, but I remember playing it a lot more often than I remember needing to charge. 4.5 hours would be fine for my laptop, but inexcusable for a game system.

I just want to say thank you for this comment. I also want to note that there was an element to this story that seems hidden, but nevertheless present. It said that he reported her kidnapped. Almost all of this $200,000 could have been in ransom money to try and save her life. Is it a foolish thing to do to spend money trying to save someone you have an intellectual relationship with? I'd really like to see more of the story here, because my first reaction to this was empathy at the man taken advantage of, not "Well, he deserved it." He could be perfectly intelligent, he was taken advantage of because of a sense of caring and trust. Is caring a bad thing to have nowadays? That's kind of sad.

Is there not more harm in trying to disabuse someone of a harmless notion that might be comforting to them?

All this goes out the window if the view of the afterlife IS being used to coerce or harm, of course.

I have a NiMH charger. I just like internal chargers because I don't trust battery hinge doors. Stupid cheap plastic breaks a lot. I also like the good old fashioned style doors you see on old Gameboys, wiimotes, and remote controls, even if you lost the bit of plastic that held the batteries in, it was just a bit of plastic, not a complex springy thing.

I won't buy a camera that takes AA cells, not because I don't like AA cells, but because I was burned by a camera that broke in a year because the stupid hinge door wore out.

my mom's nuvi205 came with a standard car charger that charges it over standard miniUSB for which you can purchase Hand Crank, Solar, and Battery chargers. So even if you're not in a car with your GPS, you're nowhere near hosed.

The Nuvi 205W is not on the explosion list either.

I love Lithium Ion batteries. My last digital camera died in a year because the fucking door hinge broke. I see it as a major advantage of the Nintendo DS. Yeah, you can't pop in new batteries, but I can charge from nearly any power source (I have a USB cord). Not to mention NiMH cells are fairly expensive, and alkalines are more expensive in the long run.

If each device gave you a set of NiMH cells and had an internal charger, then I'd like NiMHs more, and I use NiMH cells a lot (my guitars all have a 9V one in 'em) already.

As a musician myself, I find, in my subjective opinion, that Lady Gaga has quite a bit of musical talent, and she is stifling it to make simpler, more catchy, radio playable songs. If, when Lady Gaga is done making money in the pop circle, starts making really really good music, color me unsurprised. I could be wrong.

Additionally, I find that using objective measures for things like music is bound to get a lot of false readings. Music is art, some bits of it are completely subjective and undefinable. For example, there are two tracks out there called The Most Wanted Song and The Most Unwanted Song. The composers did a survey about what aspects of a song people most liked and disliked. Listen to them, and form your own opinions, but I personally find the Most Wanted Song is unlistenable and the Most Unwanted Song is, while not a masterful serious work, utterly hilarious and something I'd actually like to listen to.

I don't approve of that behavior and I don't approve of the behavior of atheists being hypocritical either. If everyone could have some goddamn respect and understanding...but this is /. *sigh*
