Agreed. There are certainly exceptions to every rule, and there is the very rare time that the caller/user actually knows what they're talking about. However, as I'm sure many people here will attest to, this is far from the norm. When I was doing support, I personally enjoyed getting a call from a knowledgable user over a real headthumper. Oftentimes, we'd both sit there bouncing ideas and theories off one another, which usually built up to the two of us finding the answer. That whole two heads thing at work...
Obviously somebody failed math. I get -$50 billion dollars out of that. A cost of -$50 billion dollars is considered huge economic growth where I'm from...
Yeah, looking back, putting the 'pathetic' on there did make the whole thing come off as fairly harsh. However, I still feel the original post did have a general "I had nothing to do with it" tone to it. He did address a lot of that in his other posts, though.
P.S. Yeah, won't it be great when Neil gets in the White House. Then we'll finally have an honest Bush running the show...
I'm still trying to find the part in your post where you take some bit of responsibility for your inability to read anything longer than a blurb. I see you pointing the finger at your teachers, the government, and a medical problem. But nowhere in there do you actually take it on yourself to learn to do something that might be a bit difficult...Pathetic!
Did you try following the half dozen links on the linked page? Or the 'Go to the Issue' link? On that page there are some 50 or 60 links under the 'Year in Ideas' heading. Honestly, I can't believe you can miss a huge list like that...
This is what happens when you let MBAs do the counting...
It's even easier. You just need to turn on C-SPAN.
Do not! >: O

Something to remember: the converse is true, too : p
User: It doesn't work
Tech: Did you try?
User: No, but...
Tech: Try it!
the best answer that can be given... : p
Ahhh. I didn't see the labeled closeup pic there. I only saw the smaller pic under the specs list. Yup, someone fucked that up pretty bad...
Because it's called a 'serial port'. The video out is the big white DVI port.
I see that Linux is now one step closer to taking over the desktop...

It's even got the MMO part down too. Over one million accounts and still going strong!
Do you realize you've dated yourself...
Yup, and I even got lucky! : D
The stand is designed so that you can prop the 770 up on your desk, coffee table, or any other flat surface so you can use it with a single hand.
Ummm...
Interesting you should bring that up. My post from a few days ago.
Who's to say which is "correct"?
I prefer to crack my eggs on the big end, and all the little endians should be killed!
Why? You don't like to see her scaled down?
FYI, it's 'tchotchke'. As in, Joanie loves...
Ahh...The subtlety of it all...

My thoughts exactly. Throwing dogs to get a deer back? I'm sure he also meant 'bizarre' instead of 'bazaar'.
Sure I look for deals but it's a matter of balancing that against buying from someone reputable.
That's why I only shop at Best Buy.
<trying hard not to burst out laughing>
I'm still waiting for someone to port Word 6 to Emacs. Talk about the height of efficiency!

It'd be a lot cooler if you replaced the bulb with a blacklight instead (press cmd-opt-ctrl-8 on a mac for a simulation)...
