1. Take all of your hurt, pain, and anger, and turn it into a small dark ball. 2. Force said ball deep into the darkest parts of your brain. 3. Poor alcohol on it to make the hurt go away. 4. Write up said method in self-help book. 5.... 6. Profit!
On a side note, do I get a medal or something for this being my first ever post that uses a meme? Or just tons of people adding me to their 'enemies' list?
I do believe the you two deserve a medal. No, really. That was one of the best discussions I've heard ( online or in person ) between two people of mostly opposing viewpoints.
Bravo. Slashdot ( and the web in general ) need more level headed people like you.
Personally, when it comes to parallel parking, the handbrake is your friend. A well executed fishtail will get you into that parking space much quicker!
I'm looking forwards to the tests of "How long does it take an unprotected Vista computer to get infected?"
What's going to be hilarious is when the Vista computer with the virus protection turned off lasts longer than the one with the virus protection turned on.
Of course God exists, and he DEFINITLY has a sense of humour. Just look at the platypus.
*note: to all the platypus lovers out there, this was meant in good humour. The platypus is a wonderful and noble creature. I sincerely apologize to all platypus enthusiasts out there who are offended by that thoughtless comment about platypi. It was not my intention to slight these stupid creatures in any way.
Do any of the kernels avaliable to apt rely on libc6? If you had an older kernel that relied on an older version of libc, then is it possible those would be uninstalled? Or would that take an "apt-get dist-upgrade"?
As far as preferences go, I'm a debian guy. But occasionally I'll compile something from source ( like MPlayer ), even if I don't get very many benifits asides from a higher version number.
It seems to work fairly well in Firefox for me. They've gone and broken the "Middle Click Opens Link In New Tab" feature in their image search, though.
So much for the "ooo shiny" factor. That's my favorite Firefox feature.
I don't know about 'overworked and underappreciated' ( because I'm still trying to get my degree ), but I don't think that's the reason that less people are trying to get CS majors. I think it's because there was a large influx of people trying to get CS degrees simply for the money. But now that a lot of those non-geeks are realizing that a CS degree actually takes work and are telling their friends, it's now back to mostly just geeks trying to get CS degrees.
Why do I say this? Because it seemed like most of the people in my first year CS courses were just their to get the 'highly paid programmer' job that having a CS degree could get them. Most of the people hadn't ever even heard of a compiler, for $DEITY's sake. I spent most of my classtime trying to tell people I wouldn't do their assignments for them.
So, there's my theory of why less people are trying to get CS degrees. Which to me, sounds like a good thing. The more that we get only geek-types to go for CS degrees, the better. C'mon, do you really want someone who learned how to write HTML in their first year ending up as a web designer at your company? I sure don't.
Okay, screw this post about putting the servers in a giant tank filled with a coolant. Put the servers in a vertical wind tunnel so you can practice your sky diving while swapping a hard disk!
Not scuba equiment, just a long hose that has one end out of the fluid.
In any case, I would love to work at such a place, if only to see the reactions on peoples faces when I tell them that I have to go scuba diving to do a disk swap! =D
Just do what I do.

Just as long as we don't put this guy in charge of the vault.
Or a refurbished ( ie, 95% brand new ) gamecube for about $60 from EBGames.
Unless memory fails me. Which it probably does. To lazy to google the actual price ( and note: the price above is CAD, not USD ).
Why not just use google itself?
That's what I love about Jeeps ( I own one as well ).
Can't parellel park? Use the sidewalk!
Cars in your way, but the raised median is clear? No problem!
Want to turn around really quickly, but don't like the three-point turn? Time for some off-roading!
Ah, the Jeep. Anything's possible!
Personally, when it comes to parallel parking, the handbrake is your friend. A well executed fishtail will get you into that parking space much quicker!
War never ends. It's just another tool to keep the masses happy.
They just Google when he's not there.
Like when he's telling reporters how he doesn't let them use Google.
If you have something would let me serve DNS requests from my finger, why are you keeping it for yourself? You could be a billionare!
Release it to the internet from that same internet cafe? With an anonymous email attatched?

"the exact same pic could appear in a porn site or a breast cancer information site."
I wanna know where you find these breast cancer information sites.

What, you mean like the first Terminator movie?

No, it warns you not to buy the 360 =P
One thing I noticed was the other book with the exact same title as Jack Thompsons book. Is it legal to have the exact same title as another book?

I thought one meter was defined as how the length of a single wavelength of visible light.
I could ( and probably am ) wrong, because it's been a few years since high school physics.

"factor of a gojilion"
I first read that as "factor of a godzilla". Now that's some serious coolant requirements.
As long as my computer can still heat my room in the winter, I'll be fine.
