"Back in my day boy, things didn't need no beta testing. It just worked"
Okay, maybe he didn't say that, and maybe it's not as funny as I thought it'd be. However I gave up on Windows months ago, and no matter how stable it gets, I don't plan on using Vista. I'd rather use a system that has global support and concerns for the well-being of it's customers. I personally use Ubuntu, and aptly wait for the June 1st launch of Dapper Drake. It may not be near Windows "user-friendliness" to date, but it's working a lot harder and faster than Microsoft is and it only delayed itself for 6 weeks to make the system for user-friendly. All this talk about Vista, makes me want to tear my eyes out. It's just a glorified XP for christ sakes.:/
"I'd be less concerned if they copied our entire hardware selection and charged the same price as they currently are! Wait... I just received a memo from our insider from Sony.... Well I'll be damned, those scoundrels!"
Uh, that's sort of interesting. I'd rather see it fling poo from a rectal cavity that contains a brown substance similar to that goo the police use to trap criminals. Of course that'd make monkey's obsolete since poo flinging is all a monkey was bred to do.:/
They could be used as small weapons filled with say gas to knock people out. People would all be like, oh look a cool gecko-ooo ARRGGHHH *hack hack hack..... thud*
Still doesn't change the fact there are countless distro currently with no serious effort being put towards making a unified OS. That's all I was trying to get at. Just because Ubuntu currently is the most "popular" doesn't mean it's going to end up being the unified distro in the end.
I've been using Ubuntu for about 2 months and I like it a lot. But instead of SUN backing one distro, why don't they try and work on a better solution, perhaps maybe a unified distro that can compete on on a larger range against Windows? I'm sure if they made it clear they'd support one uber distro, other companies might do the same and help the linux movement. *shrug*
I am just like many other Windows users. I hated windows, it's lack of security, the fact I was supporting pure EEEVIIILLL. I'd migrate over to Ubuntu, and within a week, maybe two I'd format and head right back. There's just certain things you need and when you can't get them EXACTLY when you want them, painstakingly struggling, it's a big downer.
How however, I have made the transition, it has been about 2 months, and I will never on my own machine use windows again. My wife still does and I have been trying to "poison her mind" as she likes to call it, to get her to use Linux. It's much like a drug, being a Windows users. You get hooked and without it you start getting withdrawl symptoms and no other drug works just the same. You see, Microsoft is evil, I just proved it.
I've heard speculations that the Blu-Ray player retails at around ~$1000 USD. For $599+tax you're getting the same player that can play games. Sounds like a bargain to me. Considering to even GET HD-DVD player for the 360, you'll need to buy an external drive? That's going to be what? $399 Premium 360 + X where X is probably around $100-200 you're look at the SAME price. Is it worth it? Yes.
This is something the 360 needs, if Valve can make another hit classic like Half-Life, there will be one more good game for the 360 with it's current lack of nice titles.
It's nice to see a big computer vendor finally listening to it's customers. It really peeves me and a lot of others when companies sit back, take in all your money and just sit idly by in their boardrooms crunching numbers on how to make even more profits. Excellent move by Dell, and hopefully this sparks other companies to follow suit.:)
Actually, I managed to get a hold of the REAL memo.

Re: New Japan 360 Plan
It has come to our attention that the original Xbox didn't do so well in Japan. As well we have been informed that the PS2 sales dominated the Japenese market. Our plan is simple to take over the Japanese market. If by the release of the PS3 we subsequently do not hold the major market share, we will purchase a large bomb, from our R&D department, and blow up Japan. If we cannot control Japan, then no one can, and with Japan out of the picture we will win this console war!
Who in the right mind would surf pr0n while bored? AFK....
Like... it's just a ridiculous notion that such a thing occurs. BRB.
Anyways, I think it's totally full of crap! I'll uh... be back later...
Exactly what I was thinking. I also heard he told them if they don't respond to the chair throwing, he'll fucking kill them or fucking put them up for adoption!:b
You think WoW is bad? Try playing Diablo 2 on battle.net now. Blizzard doesn't give a rats ass about diablo anymore and you'll notice with insane lag spikes occuring every 10-15 minutes, as well as people getting temp bans due to their crap servers. Blizzard needs to stop being such money grabbing whores and use those 1200 new opterons they purchased and get more pipe for such a large scale game, I believe it's over 4 million maybe 5 now. I personally don't play WoW, and I would NEVER waste money monthly on sub-par servers. I prefer GuildWars because they CARE about their players.
Much like the delay with Diablo 2, this doesn't surprise me coming from Blizzard. Their lack of dedication and work ethic makes me want to boycott all Blizzard games now. It's disgusting how they only focus on ONE game, and we all know what game that is, because it generates the most income for them. Maybe one day Blizzard will regain a reputation again that will make me want to buy their games. DIGUSTING.
Since Dell gets a lot of their hardware for next to nothing prices (Which is how they can manage to sell their machines for so cheap) Perhaps the acquisition of Alienware will allow them to begin getting deals on high-end hardware pieces and throw those into the AlienWare machines, of course with AlienWares approval since they are still handling everything themselves, and when AlienWare profits nearly double, Dell will be there cackling as they reap the benefits. I think it's an excellent business strategy, however Dell will screw it up within the first few months.
What is totally awesome since I don't have to get out of the house and have my pale skin go away.
Alex Trebeck - "That is correct"
I'll take Ways to stay inside the house for $400 please.
You're a little misplaced with your information. Most computers go into standby mode after 20 minutes on non use and this using exponentially less power than when it's fully running. A computer that's ALWAYS on, IE without standby mode generally only uses $14-15 a month (Canadian figures) That's assuming you're running a 500W PSU. In standby mode that's fractionally less.
Yes, you will save money by turning your PCs off when they're not in use, but telling him it'll hog up his electricity bill is outlandish. I have 2 PC's in my house running ALL the time, they go into standby mode when not in use after 20 minutes and my electricity bills are only $40 a month. $20 of that is the cost of GETTING the power to me, so I only use $20 worth of electricity... A MONTH.
So because these large corporations pay taxes and they pay the congresses salary, they're okay with taking a pay cut just for free speech internationally? Finally! Some true American Patriots!
Yes Coca Cola and Pepsi have different formula's for their products. However Pepsi owns Coca Cola incase you have forgotten. I'm sure you remember when they tried to change Coke's formula years ago and after much protesting from Coke fans they brought out Coca Cola Classic.... Hrm. Completely off topic, but needed to be said.

I don't know, turning on the computer may seem difficult at first, but I'll be damned if any one I know can't do it!

I felt a great disturbance from the Net, as if millions of gigs of porn suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly deleted.

What will all the Emo kids do with their time if they can't update their blog every 5 minutes about how horrible their life is?
