I bought NFS - Porsche Unleashed back in the day and it ran like a bag of shit because they had no support for my graphics card (little thing called a Geforce I think, but it might have been a Voodoo Banshee).
I haven't bought a game by EA since then. I'm sure they are really upset about it!
When I left school I had a job in a metalwork factory, and our area of business was the hand driers you find in public toilets. We made several types with metal covers, and during my time there I probably handled thousands of the things.
I wonder how often my fingerprints will appear at crime scenes now?
They're still engineering it, but the continued development is intended to maximise profits. The user experience, scams, disputes, etc are all secondary to profit.
Watch what happens in our next General Election, where we vote for our national government. It will probably be in 2010.
For a rough idea of what's going to happen, look at the results of recent local by-elections, where we elect local governments. Labour has been taking a pasting, losing some of their most secure strongholds.
Luckily, our government cannot be simply removed because they make some unpopular decisions. They get a fair shot at improving the state of our country, and then in the General Election the public will either vote for them again or vote for someone else.
It's true that our current government is incompetent and detached from reality. They should have been voted out years ago in my opinion, but there was enough support to keep them in power.
Perhaps those who shout the loudest aren't always the most numerous?
This isn't surprising - Yes it is, BT is a massive company who have a lot to lose by getting involved in illegal activities.
The UK has security cameras everywhere - Not true. There are a lot of cameras, but they aren't everywhere.
that anyone can watch through public tv - Just not true.
They use it to discourage violence - Well not just violence, any crime really. It doesn't make much difference really, but some people feel safer.
It isn't surprising to find out that their policies apply to the internet as well, and so does the mentality of voyeurism and big-brother-hood - Are you fucking stoned?
My satnav (Tomtom running on a Windows Mobile PDA) can be updated to include speed camera and other information from http://www.pocketgpsworld.com./
I think that's a lot safer because in this part of the world you can be penalised quite severely for touching your mobile phone while driving. Additionally the gps has a much more accurate idea of my position and is aware of my actual speed and the limit in force on my particular stretch of road.
The databases I use are - static speed cameras, regular locations of mobile speed cameras, average speed cameras, and stoplight cameras. Each type of threat is alerted by a different sound effect and a visual reminder of the speed limit.
I feel that using SMS is a solution to a problem which doesn't exist, especially since phones are increasingly coming with built-in gps receivers.
I agree, the South Koreans particularly spring to mind as dedicated gamers.
I very nearly used the term "sweat-shop" in my post but since I'm from a wealthy country and I'd hate to work all day in a paddy field, I'm not sure which I'd choose. It would be interesting to hear why they do it.
You're right that many Asians do play for fun, we've all heard about the cases of Warcraft addiction.
I think the poster was referring to the fact that there are so many gold farmers in those parts of the world, it's actually spawned a small industry and a valid career choice, if you don't mind working long hours performing menial tasks.
I suspect some of those accounts are run 24/7 by rotating shifts so there could be many more than 10m current players.
It would be fascinating to be able to detect the radio leakage from another planet. Communication would be nice but if we could decode their radio shows, TV, their own communication among themselves, would that be a complete waste of time? Maybe their version of the discovery channel will air a documentary detailing their geography, or their history.
Maybe they have good TV with plotlines we haven't already seen!!
This is why I never understood the Gmail phenomenon. The fact that it was "invite only" maybe had something to do with the appeal for certain people.
I received the occasional invite (lets face it, who didn't?). However, it was fairly clear that Google would be using my emails to target advertising, make money and build information on me to further their own aims. Thanks, but I have access to various email accounts which are not part of the worlds largest data-mining operation.
Just WOW. Even if this person had a legitimate point about personal data being stolen, his credibility just went down the pan.
I don't live in the USA but I presume Keith Kimmel does. If I did live in the USA I'd be wary about posting this information in public forums. He admits to tax evasion, not just a few undeclared dollars but big-time tax evasion. He admits to supporting terrorism - "Its unfortunate that people had to die so that his message could be heard, but I think in the end it was a worthwhile cost to society."
Poster must demand very high frame rates to play at 1024x768 with that hardware!! For me, the graphic quality at that resolution would be a bit too low even with antialiasing.
As I said, I use 1280x1024 because it offers the optimum experience not because it provides a perfect image - can you tell the difference between 4:3 and 5:4 when you're playing? It's possible with the difference being 6% in one dimension, but personally I would need to see a static, geometric shape such as a circle or square, and then I would have to look quite carefully to spot it.
I have not yet replaced my expensive, high quality 4:3 CRT monitor with a widescreen LCD for the simple reason that a comparable LCD monitor would be prohibitively expensive.
I use 1280x1024 because it offers the optimum experience for my hardware.
My thoughts also. Why do we need international superstars who are so big they can afford to effectively BE their own multinational companies complete with offices, private jets and personnel departments?
With the internet, it is still possible to rise to stardom but it will be the masses who choose the stars, not marketing graduates and fat execs.
Completely agreed. If this idiot got in my face I would punch him, but I'm not a police officer.
The police officers already had him restrained and then they tasered him. That's all that matters.

My point exactly...
So who's going to follow up all these millions of leads?

And in the meantime it would seriously narrow down the SETI.
Is somebody going to mod this down then?

I'd love to be watching on the day that camera is reactivated :)

You do realise what the Armed Forces do, don't you? It's not just the RAF either, I heard the Army and the RN do it too.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the controls for the transporters

I hope he looks good in orange
bloody immature way to measure your e-penis if you ask me.
Enlightening post! I wonder how those numbers translate to my local economy.

This is a bit closer for those of us with a Pocket PC
