I find food banks are the best place to donate, especially in food form (instead of cash). Canned foods last well into the new year and many people benefit from the meals they provide - either peopel directly getting the food, or food banks preparing the food.
We try to run such events every few months around our area. One time we went to make a large donation and the food bank had just 1 can of food left (for a city of 18,000 people). A lot of people don't realize how much a few $$ worth of food can go towards helping other people out.
I see this hyped all the time, but do people really use their laptops for serious gaming? I mean a large portion of people?
I have both a desktop and laptop, but would never use my laptop over my desktop. I see commercials with companies showing someone riding a bus playing a game on their laptop, and I just can't see that happening.
Office applications I see the biggest use.
I tried a google search for a few items and didn't see a phone icon. Anyone have a sample search that would show this?
And what prevents me from entering my number as someone down the street, to piss them off?;)
Yep, they are now know as The Source. They are for the most part, the exact same, just backed by Circuit City. I went into my local one, still the same, still the parts they used to have.
I have a hard enough time watching them for movies, etc (and tend not to), so I can imagine it's very difficult to keep people interested in this.
Glad to see BattleFront 2 in there - I enjoyed it.
With the price of memory cards, why can't they use them for memory purposes (instead of power), and then turn them so low, just enough the respond, say to the remote conrol on button?
Surely a 2MB memory card could hold all the information needed.
So if we can extend the average lifespan 6X, given that it currently sites close to 75 years old, in 450 years, the world population, if it doesn't keep growing (which it is) will be 36 billion?
Just what we need in 450 years, 6 billion 300 year olds. And you think some elderly slow up the line now;)
Some things seem so slow to making it to market it's unbelievable.
I have no idea where those extra words came from, and others disappeared to.
Further to this, isn't this a simple database setup, post data as the client arrives and then next time query those values. I could write that in about 2 minutes. Maybe a minute to design the table;)
Oh I agree - I'm refering to documented, structered testing by a third party. Even though developers can test it, it is more effective to get someone not in the development process to do the testing. You know, that one case you never thought about, no way a user would do XYZ;)
These are the cases where clients are willing to pass on since the budget doesn't allow for it. If they have $1000 to spend, they want as much physical code as possible. Spend $900 on dev, $100 on testing (as in work is done, test and fix bugs). The other option is $500 on dev, $100 on my own testing and $400 on a third party.
I personally will do either, but the clients I've worked for always opt for the first option.
As important as testing is, many clients (at least the ones I've dealt with) are willing to place testing on the back burner in turn for more output for the same amount of money. If code works right 95% of the time on the first try, that is a sacrifice they are willing to make.
Obviously the more critical the product, the more testing is required.
Likely not enough - I suggested small normal windmills on roofs of our house in a previous post and someone said even that wouldn't be enough (ie. it would barely make a difference). I thought if each house had 6 small windmills they could reduce the load (imagine every house having this). But I was told it wasn't enough even still.
Too bad, I would love to know in the middle of summer with solar and wind power I was generating enough power to reduce my electric bill by 40% or something.
I personally loved X-Wing from the Star Wars series, and others like Kings Quest and Space Quest. Even the text version of Jitch Hickers Guide to The Galaxy (ie. you typed what you wanted to do like "north", no ASCII art either:)
This is a great idea, if everyone can make some money and in turn people save money form not having to buy full priced ones.
Of course the resellers are worried, but there will be a limited supply, eventually companies will have to go back to them. And resellers will have the newest versions, which used licenses typically won't be for.
True, but it still can be found at this page, when you click to select downloads http://pack.google.com/pack_installer_new.html
Everything else is great and I already have, but to install real player. I can't believe google included it. What a shame.

They could always create some device to push warmer water in to suppliment the lack of warm currents I assume....

I'd like to see a comparison of average cost against the speed, since the real question is what's the fastest speed I can get for the money.

Of course, it doesn't go over well when I need to ask a question over MSN
Have a sec for a quickie?
You wouldn't believe the number of times I've got caught on that.
everyone I work with gets a great laugh when I tell them I work in my underwear in my basement... my underwear is pretty fashionable!
hehe... X10 (www.x10.com) - whatever happened to that mass marketting company, every site had their popups.
Ok, I'm a nob, I meant to say
;)

It really took that long to develop this and implement it commercially? Some things seem so slow to markey it's unbelievable.

Can I get it off my show easier when I step on it?
He should play them all backwards at the same time and see what kryptic messages he hears ;)
Thanks Anxarcule, I will take a look - didn't know there was any still kicking around.

Someone has to have central control to some degree... like managing domain names, etc.
