Almost everyone says they're the winners, but of course that's from their prospective. It's just a way to boost morale.
Googles interface is much simplier and they had the larger storage before anyone else. I tend to use my yahoo one for signup accoutns to avoid spam on the google one;)
The keyboard on the mockup was detachable, but will probably fold out on a hinge... Two trackballs, surrounded by four way buttons, on each side of the screen act as controls, and function keys on the back act as additional buttons).
Sounds like more moving parts than a typical laptop, won't that be an issue when things break, how easily can they get them fixed?
How much will it cost to build though?
And would it have any impact on the environment under the water, when placed in lower water levels? Perhaps it's not a major concern?
I could just see the great lakes covered by hundreds of these;)
I think residential products are getting easier to use now, with easier and cleaner interfaces. But this is easier to do than corporate applications due to the complexity of what's involved.
I don't have time, but I've always thought it would be neat to integrate google maps with the latest traffic info for the city, so when u leave in the morning, you load your city and it will lists all the locations (ie. like the radio does as your drive in) with current traffic problems.
So they could easily pull this info from the cell phones and show where there is heavier traffic.
Perhaps someone has already done this though.
So they will know where we are, where we stop, how long we spent at location XYZ... Great!!!
It's a great idea, so old problem with privacy and how much they track/retain on specific details.
Why didn't they fix the vulnerable function in the first place (is there a specific reason)? Sure, adding validation seems like a quick and valid fix, but a company the size of MS should have known in the long run, fix the function instead.
With this, now we have what, only 3 months now NOT in DST - why not just move our timezone to -4 instead of -5 all the time? Why even have DST? From a programming prospective, it sure would make it easier on me.
Of course, if no other province is dumb like us, then it's just another joy of adding in code to handle DST for a specific province. Nice...
Oh, don't you know - according to the radio everyone is hailing this as the greatest things, teachers are happy because it gives more daylight hours for kids to play, safer streets, etc
What a load of crap.
Yes, of course it would have to make economical sense, I mean why can't there be a huge investment into technology to make these things cheaper? I recall a previous/. article (many many months back) where some company has developed a process to create solar panels for 1/100 the cost.
And I mean this to be used with your regular grid, on really hot days, if each house was generating 10% of their needs, then we wouldn't need to be building new generators, grids, etc (at least in Ontario we're a little low on power on those hot summer days)
Will there be some sort of recycling program when they are used up? Or is this another use and toss?
Wonder if it will outlast it's planned life, like the mars rover.
What's the cost difference between what Apple will charge for theirs and this?
They must have read this post from the other day: http://science.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=167383 &cid=13954681
The last bubble had a large number of companies "promising" great things - products that never existed. People rushed to invest.
In this case, there is an actualy product.
Will all the parts be made in China?

What is their source for that live data?
I think their interface is just much simplier. And like madaxe42 says above, there are already a ton of map services.
So is this the next bext thing to retire my beta camcorder? Every time I'm about to make a choice, something better comes out ;)

I know they say they won't track it, but I find that hard to believe.

Really... isn't one point of LCDs to reduce the desk space needed, looks like that one needs as much desk space as a standard CRT.
What type of service contract will you have to sign to get it free? ;)
Let's see those pictures... post them to flickr!
I love trying to take close up photos, like this one http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=52264740&c ontext=set-1132411&size=l or this one http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=52265385&c ontext=set-1132411&size=l (he's actually starting to spin the web on this one) using my Sony DSC F828 (these are 50% the actual size for flickr). It's amazing the detail you can get.
Anyone have their own site with closeups? What camera are you using?
Seems like this article and http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/10/21/135 204&tid=172&tid=156 are related - getting to market is more important than making sure it's 100% secure.
