Oh big deal. In a big fit of irony, the SDK will hit Bit-torrent within minutes. At the end of the day, Bit-torrent is mostly used for piracy, so Bit-torrent, Inc, of all organizations, should realize that this is an absolutely useless attempt at who-knows-what.

No, you completely misunderstand, Bittorrent's management are absolutely brilliant. If they keep bittorrent open source, then it's impossible to pirate. By "closing" it, they are actually making it possible for people to get bittorrent as god intended. By pirating it.

  12. Re:Install panels for data centers? on Google Campus to Become Solar-powered · · Score: 1, Interesting

It would certainly get other data centers and large power consumers (like yahoo and microsoft) to consider following suit

Solar power is extremely expensive, and power is generally the single largest cost in operating a data center (bandwidth, server leases, and even the cost of A-grade real estate in an urban core like New York City are small compared to power costs). Real world data center managers are interested in (1) more reliable power (no sags, no blackouts, no brownouts) (2) less expensive power. Empty gestures like solar panels don't really enter into the equation. That is fortunate, because it isn't even clear that solar panels are carbon neutral, much less carbon negative, over their operating lifetime.

I would love to see a comparison of exhast emissions mass per mile comparison between the Prius and the Golf tdi. The Prius should win in city driving, but I would bet on the Golf for highway.

You don't need to do a test, the BioDiesel Golf will always win. The Prius uses fossil fuels, so all of its emissions represent a net increase in atmospheric pollution. Biodiesel is made from plants that grow on the earth's surface, so all emissions from burning BioDiesel simply recycle surface chemicals from one form to another. In other words, biodiesel produces no NET emissions. On a gross basis, Biodiesel may win as well, but it is the net emissions that really matter.

I have no sorrow for all those so called pundits/analysts and others. All they want is an avenue to be able to speculate after being provided with some data. How come they were not able to predict and prevent the ENRON scandle? Let then leave Google alone, after all, this America.

Enron lied to analysts, google won't talk to analysts. Both companies show very little respect for teh average stockholder. The only difference is that google's motto is "do no evil," so it isn't unreasonable to expect more from google.
