I just got my PODxt Live.. Its awesome, I had a GT-3 from boss that I have been using for years and finally out grew it.. I am hoping for a Variax for my birthday.. I guess I have to wait and see how generous my wife is..
The IT IMHO is as important anymore as any other "utility" job. Fortunately we are quickly becoming more of a need than a want. As more companies need a higher degree of technology in the workplace the need for an in-house IT guy is important.
Rarely do you see a plumber or electrician in a small business, but the small businesses need the IT guy and are willing to keep one either on call, contracted, or a part of the permant staff.
As technology advance, and Microsoft shipping out buggy software, there will always be a job for the IT guy. If small businesses find the value of open source, then we'll be needed that much more.
Sans the inflamatory remarks I have to agree with you. When I was getting ready to start my university classes, I had to change to a more "grown up" operating system. Which was of course WinXp. Linux is still too chaotic of a OS to really compete with anything. There are too many things in Linux that do the same thing (If they work at all), and also I have to agree with you on drivers and installing new hardware. I am a registered Linux user, but for "big people" work and school stuff I have to use what works and what other people are using..
With that said, I do respect Linux, I think there are some really cool distros out there that have a lot of potential, but its just not ready for the big league yet, maynot ever be. I still run Linux every once and a while for fun.. But for real world application I have to use Windows...
I guess to each their own, if some people can do everything in Linux and enjoy doing so then great! You are a better nerd than I..:)
I'm gonna take another crack at making a point here..
I'm going to borrow from the three little pigs for this exercise.
There are three little pigs, and a root DNS. The root Dns needed a safe place to call home, to be safe from the big bad wolf that is total global war.
The first pig (China), said, "Come on over here most honorable root DNS, I'll keep you safe and so secure that people will never see you or the internet again. Oh and by the way, my house is made of straw."
The second pig(Europe), being linguistically superior to the first, gave a compelling arguement as to the obvious lack of common sense to hold up in a straw house and let someone else dictate what you can and can't do. Then the second pig invited the root Dns into his wood house for some Tea and some fryed snails.. Oh, by the way, we are currently in a penis size contest with the third pig, if he says or does something we don't like, then I order you to not talk to him or give him the time of day..
The root DNS getting fed up of all the bullshit politics said screw it, I'm gonna stay with the last pig(USA), there is still a lot of retards running the house, but at least I'm free to talk to the other two pigs whenever I want and if the big bad wolf comes then I am going to be safe cause pig#3 has all the nukes and his house is made of brick, metal, iron, with motion sensing lazers and the pig has a kung fu grip to die for..
Ok, its not a perfect example, nor is it a perfect world. The UN is a group of countries looking to exploit this for profit for their countries, which means that eventually they will hold it hostage..
Where did this whole "Lets get the internet from the US" mentality come from?
and
Everything is (for the most part) running well with the US in control. I think the people who live here in the US should put it to a vote amongst the people first and foremost before we let a bunch of screwballs in underdeveloped countries take away the biggest means of mass communication in the world.
JVC GR-DF550, I have one and it works really good. I think I only paid $465 for it at a place called Video Only.. I have seen it in Circuit City for around the same price..
What if someone indeed has the markers in their blood, but because they grew up in a healthy environment, learned how to successfully manage their outbursts? Data cannot correctly determine who a person is nor how they will react. I can see this being a good "prevention" technique, otherwise, there are tons of psuedo doctors called shrinks that would love to keep their jobs..
I have been a musician for 15 years and have always been interested in the origin and progress of music.
The music that we listen to today is a branch off of other styles of music. Yes, music has a family tree linking all the way back to cavemen grunting in unison while pounding bones together.
Music is like humans (as far as the book of Genesis) it may have all evolved in different areas and have different sounds but it all eventually had a common beginning.
For an exercise, take rock-n-roll today and make links back to 2000, 1990, 1980, 1970, etc.. Its an interesting voyage to see how far it goes back..
For instance, Classical made way for ragtime, which laid the ground for country. At the same time Classical helped opera, which later became orchestra, then big band, then jazz..
I may not be 100% correct in my time lines, but I assume you get the point.

Can you hook it up to a Line6 PODxt Live?
I might finally be able to teach my wife how to play guitar..

Just my $0.02..
All of the Dune books..
A story that didn't sound like the Linux terrorist's call for a Jihad..
Its nice to see a fair comparison between the two. I for one have both Windows and Ubuntu. Ubuntu is a great distro, I can see why he would use it..
I'd make them pay for each drop of blood..

I wonder how far stem cell research would have gone if stem cells where only harvested from a mans testicles..
Lord know many of the slashdot crowd are not using theirs...
Yeah.. Ok.. Fair Enough.. I get second place..
This has to be the dumbest thing I have read, ever.. What kind of idiot would do that anyway..
Congrats you have just one the "Biggest Retard Of All Time Award"..
I'm glad they found this out.. Now HELP ME, I have been trying to quit nicotine for months now and sucking badly at it..
And if one more retard suggests that I practice deep breathing I'll kill them and make a pair of mocassins out of their arse skin...
I'd scream but my mouth if full of chewing gum..
umm.. if balloons were dishing out internet, and there was a hurricane.. What do you think the outcome of the balloons would be?
Ponder that for a while...
Unless you are refering to some other way of getting internet to them.. I dunno..
Just another means of advertising...
We'll see ballons with Pepsi, Google, Intel, and Microsoft all over the place..
By the way, if I was the first one to think of that then PATENT PENDING!!
Mua ha ha ha
