In March 2008, the FCC requested public comment on turning the bandwidth currently occupied by analog channels 5 and 6 (76â"88 MHz) over to extending the FM broadcast band when the digital television transition is completed in February 2009.[1] This proposed allocation would effectively assign frequencies corresponding to the existing Japanese FM radio service (which begins at 76 MHz) for use as an extension to the existing North American FM broadcast band.
I used to have a copy of the Internet Yellow Pages. A physical book. The same size and shape as a telephone yellow-pages.
I still have my copy of that book. I've tossed most other outdated computer books but this one is so quaint, maybe it will be worth something to a historian a decade from now.
Good point. I'm just now watching the DVD set for "Carnivale" and it only survived two seasons. I think part of the problem is competition with the other shows out there (on HBO that is).
Now that Sopranos and Six Feet Under are over and gone, there's room for new shows like True Blood to draw in viewers. Hmmm, now I sound like a HBO salesman.
Either way, she is not a good candidate for VP by any stretch of the imagination.
You're exactly right. When Reagan nominated the first woman to the Supreme Court, there was no question that Sandra Day O'Connor was qualified, her credentials were impeccable. Can anyone say the same thing about Palin?
Well, when I explain it to friends I put it this way. I ask them how much they love going to the DMV to renew drivers licenses....new plates..etc.
Then I tell them to imagine having to go to the DMV, and like with the above...wait often for hours in long lines with govt. workers who are drones that dont' give a shit, and yet have them in control of dispensing your medical care...what Dr. to see...what prescription to fill, etc.
Its already like that. Well, not quite as bad, but close to it. My parents tell me that up until around the time I was born, when you got sick you called the doctor, and they came to your house to see you. They called this, a "House Call". Wow, unimaginable.
When I want to see a doctor now, I first have to get past the receptionist, who schedules appointments. It takes a bit of luck to get an appointment that day. When I go in, I have to wait for a long time before a nurse calls me in. The nurse takes my vital signs, goes over my medical history file with me, asks me if I need a refill of a prescription that I took several years back (the answer is no) and plays like she's the doctor. Then I sit and wait for a while longer and another nurse usually comes in, and I go through the same thing all over again. Then I wait for a while longer and finally the doctor comes in, looks me over, and signs off on whatever the nurse has already diagnosed me with. My doctor is a nice guy but he's overworked like hell. The system is FUBAR, something has to give.
I grew up in Maryland and moved to VA in 2002. Up until then we had machines where you'd pull a lever next to the candidate of your choice. So they've gone to electronic, and then to paper in 6 years?
Don't forget that investigators will most likely lie to you, in an attempt to "trick" you into saying something to incriminate yourself. Its all ok for them them to lie to you, but you can't lie to them. Strange isn't that?
Considering that the US will be China's bitch in a few years, I suggest you do in fact learn Chinese!
Back in the 80's they told us that the US would be Japan's bitch and we should all learn to speak Japanese. Heck, maybe we'll be Mexico's bitch and we should learn Spanish?
How very childish of him to kick off a elaborate SQL script while unaware that he was about to be laid off? Yeah, I guess he should have consulted a ouija board to look into the future before starting that script.
My local library (Fairfax County, VA) allows you to search for books on their website, even reserve them for pickup. You can even renew your books online too. They have a decent selection of scifi/fantasy books, graphic novels, and other things.
They use a library software package called Sirsi, that other libraries may use too. You (I'm talking to the person who posted the question) might want to look into it.
I couldn't help noticing how Mac fanatics kept on touting their superior OS, until OS X came along, which fixed all of these problems that they never acknowledged having before. Same thing with the switch to Intel. They kept saying how superior their Power PC chip was, then with the switch to Intel they're saying its now working so much better. WTF?
Even though I'm not a big fan of Apple, I will admit they have some advantages here and there.
I'm with you in spirit, but I have to say that when I switched from Win98 to Windows 2000 Professional, I got much better graphics performance. Maybe it was the all 32-bit OS, maybe it was better OpenGL, or maybe it was better drivers for the video card or a combination of all three. Not having to reboot all the time was a big help too. I even waited until Service Pack 2 was out for XP before I switched to that.
I have no idea why Slashdot linked to B & N here, when Amazon has it considerably cheaper
Slashdot used to link to Amazon for books, but they took a lot of criticism for it because Amazon had patented the "one-click". Now they link to Barnes & Noble and people criticise them for not linking to Amazon any more. I guess if you're Slashdot you just can't win.
What if they work for AOL?
Eric Clapton has always been a Fender Stratocaster man. Never heard of him playing a Les Paul.
What ever happened to microwave lighting that I saw on TV over a decade ago that was going to kick ass???
I was wondering about that too and looked it up. I found info about it here:

I'm no radio buff, but I found this:

If someone poaches from your talent pool you poach from theirs. All's fair in love and war (and business).

I agree. Too bad they can't turn over the show to HBO or Showtime and have them do it right.

He was Senator Al Gore Jr. at the time.

It wasn't just OTC Tylenol, it was a prescription pain killer, some kind of opiate mixed with Tylenol.

Stephen King died again?! He just keeps dying and coming back to life and dying and coming back to life...
Well he is Stephen King after all.You paid $60 for two movie tickets and concessions in 1981 to see Alien? Where you really hungry or something?

Anyways, I still prefer cold weather to hot weather.
The vows of abstinence break more easily than any condom
Server 2003 with Service Pack 2 slipstreamed in and you're all set to go. Only a few patches for April and May 2007 are needed.
I've been doing Server 2003 installs the past few months and recently rebuilt my home PC with XP. XP seems old and dated in comparison to Win2K3.
