Also, there is another chance, one that the coin disappears entirely, since atoms can just *disappear*, there is a possibility that all the atoms in the coin just vanish at the same time.
The possibility of the coin being stolen mid air also rises the closer you get to a beach, as pesky seagulls see you flipping a coin, who would blame them for mistaking it for a thin shiny chip? Then the outcome would be N/A.
I think he meant "We're whalers on the Moon, we carry a harpoon. But there aint no whales so we tell tall tales and sing our whaling tune." http://theinfosphere.org/The_Series_Has_Landed
Anti SPAM measures are totally needed, personally I'm glad filtering out 90% of the crap, and having the remaining marked as "SPAM" in the subject, I can then go through them manually and sort the actual spam from the regular mailings I get, I don't think seeing a regular mailshot marked "SPAM" in any way would reflect my opinion of that company.
For example I get emails from Overclockers.co.uk and Play.com regularly marked as potential spam, yet I'm perfectly happy with their services and will most certainly use them in future! Does being identified as a potential spammer harm them? Not as far as I am concerned.
Being *incorrectly* identified as a spammer harms nobody enough to care, being *correctly* identified as a spammer does.
Why is the above marked a Troll? Are all./ mod points now just spent marking anything that's not funny a Troll? I have an Android phone with 480*320 resolution and it doesn't seem overly pixellated at ~1 foot, maybe (definitely) not as smooth as the new Apple displays though.
Seems that anything *not* sucking off Apple gets a "Troll" status nowadays. Lets see this get rated down too... (clearly correct marking would be "offtopic")
Steve Jobs wants to own the cake, the plate, the silver cake fork, the restaurants, and approve all the recipes of cake you can have, personally. Also once you've purchased cake, they can at a moments notice add or remove your filling without being asked. (He is ok with the raw ingredients being made in Chinese sweatshops though).
Google on the other hand have a damn good recipe book, and a franchise on every corner where you can eat any flavour of cake you like for a reasonable price.
Yes, but the "Microsoft is terrified... Apple doesn't care so much." kinda ruined his point and turned it into a Microsoft are evil, Apple are good post.
Apple get a lot of good publicity, and people love to hate Microsoft, but I fail to see how they are anything but two sides of the same coin.
Other than that it's an interesting post.
Microsoft is terrified by anything that would let it's locked-in customer base easily migrate to another desktop OS. Apple doesn't care so much.
Are you kidding? Both are as bad as each other, MS is being forced to allow people to choose things like browsers, Apple on the other hand are happily locking your into their tightly controlled products.
I'm sorry, but when Americans start suing each other for ridiculous amounts for minor infractions of dubious laws (mostly made up by paid for politicians, to protect an industry that is struggling to evolve with the technology), the rest of the world is expected to sit by with baited breath, and wait for the latest judge to set a new precedent? Then you (Americans) expect the rest of the world to follow your example.
America is not the world, just because *you* have a law about something, doesn't mean the rest of the world recognises it automatically and has to abide by it.
"Airnergy takes the energy created by wi-fi signals and stores it in a rechargeable battery. At CES, the device's battery, which I believe was precharged with Wi-Fi power, was able to charge"
The key words are "the devices battery, which I believe", if he can charge a mobile battery from another battery then this is nothing new, however the charging of the "devices battery" is what is questionable in my mind, fooling yourself into thinking that the guy was sat in McDonalds or at home and powered if off his neighbours wifi is stupid.
why are you reading your employees email? surely some of it may be private, and unless you had grounds for searching you should really keep your nose out.
Agreed, this guy must be raking it in. Maybe it would be justified for a/. if the guy offered to donate all profits to something like renewable energy research.
thats the worst analogy ever, your not giving the Chinese the credit they deserve, its the typical macho american response the world expects these days - dont agree with america? your just wrong then. or we didnt win? we werent taking it seriously.
i think personally Poland have done very well, when you look at the numbers of chinese and american students, the fact that Poland can put together a world beating team shouldnt be overlooked, with all the extra resources, China and the USA should be looking ay Poland and wondering how they can match this.
i doubt very much we will claim any kind of jurisdiction over sealand ever, if you read the sealand history you will already see germany appealing to the uk for the return of some prisoners and we washed our hands of it...
at the time it was built and again when it was claimed by the current owners sealand was out of our territorial waters, since those were extended (our water boundary) you cant just clam another persons land, that would be like us extending our territorial waters another couple of hundred miles and claiming the rest of ireland (and some of france).
nobody wants to touch the sealand issue over here, so nobody will.
you would probably still get service for a month or so while you get reminders, then you would get demands for payment, then its a bit late to cancel a service when you have been using it but not paying, lawyers (bastards) love this kind of thing.
take 1/3 off your salary and tell the "bobs" thats the saving they would get from removing your internet access too... damn i'm just full of good ideas:)
Geometry Wars Evolved is still the best game on the 360. Tetris was always the best game on the GB... Neither appear to have had or needed big budgets, big budgets are just needed to justify all the over paid management that need to focus on the stupid little things and tell each other it was awesome (and already be planning the sequel before the original is released).
actually they make a lot of false claims too (maybe the pirates can sue for loss of business on these grounds?), they state that the pirated movies are cams or poor quality, my experience *cough* is anything but, sure i've seen a few low quality pieces, but compared to the quality of the storyline its something im willing to put up with!
and how many crud movies do they make these days? churning out the same old tat... maybe we can demand our money back if we think its rubbish? after all they are selling us something, we have consumer rights to be satisfied with what we paid for. how many times have you come out of a movie theatre thinking you just wasted 2 hours and £15 on seats and another £5+ on waaaaay overprices popcorn and drink?
(off topic - aimed at the movie companies more) the other thing that bugs me is having to watch adverts at the movies, i mean i just paid £6.50 per seat to watch a movie... why the hell are you bombarding me with adverts? trailers are one thing but adverts? i just PAID you to watch a movie, not be shown fecking ads!
youd be surprised the limits people go round to send legitimate emails, a company i worked for had a rate limit of x per 30 seconds and xx per 10 min period.
even the legit customers phoned for advice on how to get around it.

I fail to see the need for shutting down critics.

Dear god, anyone with Convection in a Resto build needs locking up.
I don't play on that server, so no idea what reputation he has, but to think... I could have x-realm pugged with him...
You'd play Team Fortress 2 (and nothing else) for 5 years?
Thankfully, most sysadmins are honest ethical people.
Never read BOFH?

everywhere has bureaucrats, but as long as the bureaucrats dont get over the top and forget the Coefficient of Inefficiency
