As the content owner, you are given the opportunity to place ads, which you get a percentage from. They launch a new front end next month designed entirely in Flex, so as long as the client has Flash, it will play.

I am curious to see what they will do for the people like myself, who bought the console on launch day, and got the 3 ring death after the 1 year warranty expired. Instead of sending it in and paying $140 to have them fix it, I opened the box up and removed the X bracket on the CPU, and clamped down the heatsink with 4 screws. Turned the system on without the fans running, let it overheat a bit, and tightened down the heatsink, unwarping the MB and reconnecting the pins that had 'warped' out. Has worked perfectly since then. I would love, though, to send it in and have them fix the problems the 'right' way. Guessing, though, that since I voided the warranty by opening the box, I am SOL. *shrug*

Yes, you can sue the old company, if you find out that what they said was what led to you not getting hired. Once again, in reality, not alot of places are going to inform you that because your old boss bad mouthed you, you didn't get hired. In fact, an interviewer who hears that you shot smack/coded like a monkey/'stickied' keyboards/etc. is going to be more grateful to the person that gave them that information then to you, who was one of 'the pile of resumes'.

I got bored with what I was doing, and thought that being a consultant and never taking more then a 6 month contract would be the best thing, as I would always have a new challenge on my plate. Been consulting for over 2 years now, programming for over 10. And am really bored with it.

What to do next is a huge question for me. I make > $100k/year, and have no college education. Unfortunately, I have become accustomed to the lifestyle that I lead, and my bills won't go away just because I take a job that pays less. Forget about the community that has evolved from Usenet, the history, etc. It is the age of instant gratification. Who cares if it 'matches what the PS3' costs if you get all the add ons. I for one don't care about high-def DVD, and could care less if my console is WiFi enabled. At least with the 360, it is not being forced on me, I can choose to add those items on if I want. And for all extent and purposes, I can easily put together a PC with the same features for the same price, probably less. It obviously won't have a Cell processor, or blu-ray drive, but the 'features' will be the exact same.
