LibreOffice and Gimp actually are the very ones I set up for them, and it's worked out fine here. Sorry it didn't for you, not all software works for everyone, but these aren't enthusiasts of any kind, just average users. I also usually set up Inkscape as well. One of the people iset this stuff up with ended up using Inkscape to create menus and signage for their restaurant and they look miles better than the low res bitmaps they used to use.
Whenever people ask me to download office or Photoshop I ask for their credit card. When they say "no" I offer to install an alternative that works just as well. Pretty soon there is no fear of learning new apps because everything they have installed works the same under Linux. Now a lot of people I know are running Mint w/Cinnamon.
Since they already demonstrated they don't need apple's help, even after much insistence, it will be much more difficult for them to convince the courts they can't do it without apple's help.
I can't drink that stuff, tastes like candy syrup! Pretty much the only thing I can stand to drink (apart from beer or coffee) is water or milk, or a slightly sweetened iced tea. I'll eat a fruit but I can't stand the candy drink.
They're not putting PlayStation or Nintendo games on these platforms. They're making entirely new games based on existing characters optimized for the platform. You won't be playing Super Mario Bros or Uncharted on your phone.

Anyway I'm glad you enjoy larger devices and recognize the need for a wide variety as it's impossible to please everyone all of the time.

I don't preface all my opinions with "in my opinion" and I expect people to know the difference. Do you think some people are misinterpreting that as fact?

Those are much better sizes for portable devices. Large phones are cumbersome and add little, and heavy 13" devices are more difficult to use for long periods of time unless you're at a desk.
But the Xbox One IS a product that's being aimed at everyone. Shouldn't all their marketing (including parties) be more generic as a result? If they were launching a game that targeted hetero men then maybe your logic would follow. Anyway there were male dancers art this party too but nobody seems to be talking about that....
Yes all of those were criticized but they still passed. I don't know why it has to be done in secret because even if it's done in the open nobody can do anything about it, people don't get to vote on these things
Apple, Google, MS, Amazon, all want to control app stores but these big app makers will just turn into publishers/stores themselves. Time for policy changes right fellas? Probably too late
That sucks. Good indication of why our country is going down the toilet, we feel like we have no choice but to have this attitude to protect our own sanity and wellbeing, lest it be sucked out of us.
Blizzard is planning to update Warcraft 3 this week as well, bringing player communication improvements as well as some surprises with the new 1.27 update.
Is that a rollback to Windows 7, or install (7) on top of install (10) on top of install (7)? That's still a lot of coffee. Making sure all your apps and settings are preserved, and hunting down the proper settings to prevent it from happening again... for now.
I have some thoughts in my head that I shared with someone via voice in person, and they can't compel us to divulge said thoughts on command. Guess they're completely fucked as this happens every day!

That's worse than gamestop's trade in value for when most people are "done" with games. It won't give me an incentive to buy digital over physical.
