  2. Tablet PC on PDA Sales Fall for Third Year in Row · · Score: 1

I bought a Tablet PC instead of a new laptop to fill the need of both a PDA and a Laptop given circumstances. It's done that job well, and while it's not as small, it's small enough to keep nearby and weighs so little (it's a slate) that it's easy to hold with one hand.

It's also a hell of a lot easier to work with email and web tasks than on a little 4" 640x480 (at best) display.

Stone Creek just uses a dsl line and a linksys router, and its good enough for us sane folks who use TLS and SSL for everything like everyone ought to on a wlan anyway. I think Linux on TabletPC is interesting, but.. I still run XP Tablet PC edition on mine. Why? I can get most of the software I want (Mozilla Fox/Bird suite, Open Office, etc) on it, and have features that work.

I would, however, move to using Linux on the device as soon as a Linux package that is mature for the Tablet PC became available. Why? Well, that's entirely politics and not technical. And that's the only 'good' reason, because I'm sure even a 'mature' package would have flaws -- but it would be a better choice, to me. The same reason I try to use local restraunts and services over chains and huge corporate entities when possible.

Handwriting is important, though, because I have a Slate. And Slates depend on handwriting recognition to be useful. Is there even a good open source handwriting recognition app available in any form?

They have done two things of interest compared to other MMORPG's:

A level cap at level 60.

A lot of content for people who are level 60 that requires teamwork and strategy instead of more power.

If they can make those two things work together concurrently, it should continue to be fine. I heard numbers at one point that at launch almost 50% of the real content work is dedicated to players who are at their peak level, and more was going to be added all the time.

If you play the game, you'll notice LOTS of unimplimented things, such as Portals, etc. I'd imagine 'Portals' will be the path of creating more content while also running out of land area. :)

Yup. But you also have no way to start the car, and the car will not allow you to drive it with a low battery. Worst case I can think of is if your battery somehow became disconnected during driving, and your engine stalled. But I think we'd call that an 'accident', and your car would've been previously stopped by a large tree/car/home. :)
