"the citizens in upstate NY still need some education in the safety of alternative energy."
From what I have heard about this debate (I know many people living in the area affected), the most vocal critics of the plans are residents who have just recently arrived in the area and often own property but don't live there year round, if at all. So perhaps the submitter could, instead of putting snide generalizations in the summary, reserve his comments for the comment section where they can be properly modded down as flamebait.
It doesn't work with the DRM'ed files that are bought from iTunes but it's borderline stupid to buy from the music store and not rip those files into a format that you have control over.
Hey you stupid shit - a CS degree is made up of tests and quizzes. Good programs don't ever ask you to rely on a bunch of memorization. The fact that you had to memorize facts tells me that you went to a shitty school because you're not smart. I can guarantee you're a piss-poor programmer. Now go to hell and cook.
"Actually, as you get older you realize that school habits are not applicable to the real world. Jobs are not like a quiz, you shouldn't be pulling details from memory, that's why we have reference manuals."
If you think Computer Science degrees are "about" memorization then you either went to a shitty school or don't have a CS degree.
I think I'm being trolled here because no one can possibly be as stupid as you are acting Andy but anyway...
Okay - so you're implying that while the consoles are scarce, they should only be sold on Ebay. Brilliant idea! Let's see - what do people buy when they buy consoles? Oh, I know - games to play on those consoles and extra controllers. Yes, high mark-up items. As I've previously said (and I'll say it again) brick and mortar stores are not going to appreciate being relegated to second class status by MS. How are they demoted to second class status? Well, as I said, if they can only provide the games and controllers but not the consoles and Ebay can provide the games, consoles, and controllers, obviously the brick and mortar stores have less to offer. You see how simple it is?
And don't even start up with some bullshit about, "Well my name is Andy and with my tiny penis I think that people would only buy the consoles on Ebay and would go to EB for the games." because that argument doesn't matter. The fact is MS would be giving EB another competitor WHO WOULD HAVE AN ADVANTAGE OVER THEM! Yeah, they're really going to love that.
P.S. You are probably the dumbest person I have ever had the misfortune of communicating with/at. Burn in hell moron.
"If retailers could simply have the high-mark up, small, well supplied Games on their shelves instead of low mark-up, big, scarce consoles, I think they would be very happy!"
So are you proposing that MS sells all its consoles through Ebay now? In your first stupid post, you were only talking about the launch period when people were willing to pay a high premium. Now in your second post you act as though EB doesn't want consoles in their stores at all - just the games. Either opinion is fundamentally stupid but I haven't yet decided which is more stupid.
Here's a hint fuckwit: retailers aren't going to like it when you've got two products that are tied together (games + console: I'm trying to spell everything out for you Andy) and there's one place where you can get both at the same time (Ebay) and one where you can get only one (retail outlets).
Furthermore, when consoles are sold at EB, do you think EB sells any games? Gee, I think so. Take your nonsense elsewhere.
That'll make the retailers who you're going to rely on after the initial launch happens very happy; instead of bringing foot traffic into their stores in large numbers, you've taken them completely out of the loop.
Did you really think your little plan through? (Not that it matters, it would never happen.)
How exactly do I sell my soul to Sony in exchange for full-fledged RSS support? I understand that you love Nintendo and hate Sony and simply have to get that opinion out there but it would be nice if you at least made some sense. Basically the article states that if Sony sees demand for the feature, they'll add it. That seems pretty reasonable to me. I know that I would appreciate that. I'm just trying to understand your line of thought. Have you used the PSP? (I know that I have yet to find a retail outlet where they had a demo model.) The DS is quite a different system and I find that my PSP fills a different need than my DS.
So, in conclusion, explain to me where soul-selling is mentioned in the article.
Ha! Sega screwed up with the Master System, the Sega CD, the Game Gear, and the Nomad as well. Giving Sega credit where credit is due - they got the middle stages of the Genesis life-cycle right. (Recall that the time period between when the Genesis came out and it was competing against the aging NES and when Sega finally got Sonic the Hedgehog to actually move a few units was not that brief) Other than that, Sega has never marketed hardware well.
Most? Where does that idea come from? I'd expect that some people might sell their current XBox to fund an XBox 360 but I don't see any reason to believe that most people will do that. Of course, this is Slashdot where it's incredibly easy to just announce facts that could only be known through a statistical survey. AC, why do you do this to us?
"As for your second point comparing Quake2's single player experience to Quake3 which is essentially a multiplayer only game is a poor comparison. You need to compare Quake3 to Quake2's multiplayer to get a better impression of how they line up and as I said in my previous post Quake3 even uses the same AI for its bots that most used in Quake2. (The Eraserbot.) So again the experience is easily comparable, and completely different to UT which had a very different AI. (Personally I think a better AI. Godlike bots were really tough but also seemed more human than nightmare level quake3 bots.)"
So basically, GTA is the same game as Quake II because they both have menus for manipulating the sound volume? That's the same argument as saying that Quake 3 is the same game as Quake II because Quake II multiplayer is similar to Quake 3 single player. You're ignoring the fact that there is a lot in Quake II that is not in Quake 3. Certainly they're similar games (they are, after all, in the same series) but saying that they're the same game based on comparing two aspects of the gameplay is downright silly. Also, why would you bring up Eraserbot in your attempt to prove that Q2 and Q3 are the same game? If anything that shows (since Eraserbot did not come with Q2) that Q3 corrected missing features of Q2.
Where in Q3 is there a level that you play from beginning to an end point, not based on frag counts. If they are the same game, as you claim, then this feature should be present. Oh, bring up a mod in your arguments again too. That is sure to prove a point since we're talking about the games as released by iD.
"I still have (younger) friends who knock on my door all the time to get their Dreamcast fix."
What does the age of your friends have to do with the price of tea in China?
"There aren't many gamers like me, I think. I'm not a market."
Congrats on being so unique. Sadly, you're not. It appears that you've built up most of your ego around this idea that you are very special and different and there's no one else out there like you. This makes you feel like you're superior to everyone else. I'm afraid that I have bad news for you - you're inferior and not unique.
On a somewhat related note, the new Mario game for the DS looks great! I hadn't thought about buying a PSP or a DS but seeing this video of it running, I am tempted to run out and buy one. Miyamoto is a master of making games that are simple enough to just sit down and play but engaging enough to keep your attention for hours. That's why I think the Nintendo Revolution is going to be such a great system - the new controller is going to open up so many new options, that I have no doubt Miyamoto will take full advantage of.
I know, I sound like a fanboy here but this is the first time in a long time that I've been really excited about video games. It felt like this generation of consoles weren't anything we hadn't seen before - just brighter colors, flashier logos, nothing really new. I'm thinking that the Revolution is going to feel significantly different.
I've filed a lawsuit before and I had to file where the defendant was located. Perhaps this varies but can anyone clarify when you can file locally and when you have to file in the defendant's location?

Let me guess - you aren't a stockbroker, accountant, CEO, or investor.

People also forget the first run of PS1s had problems with their vert synch on older televisions.
$100+ purchases? What do I care? Any receipt for less than a grand or two gets tossed the moment it is handed to me. Are you poor or something?
You think anywhere else counts? Piss off tosser.
