They explained it fairly clearly, the salsa was chocked full of electrolytic goodness. As I remember it, it took a lot of tweaking, and even then it took a really long time. The final result was plausible, not confirmed, due to the fact that it would be improbable to hide all of your mad scientist gear for any length of time.

Why not get the video card and a seperate tuner?

And it's easy to do since ATI makes the separate cards in a different line of products called the "TV Wonder" series. It's easier to pick and choose the features you want your tuner to have as well, for example, some are HDTV capable, others are not. Some have remotes, others do not.

IMO, it's smarter to get a Radeon, and a tv wonder, than to get the whole thing on one card.

where does the line between social conditioning and personal responsiblity lay? I think the line is right about where people start committing crimes. Personal responsibility is not trumped by social conditioning. If it did, military personnel who come back from war to kill the dude that's been boinking his wife would never be prosecuted. Of course there are degrees of social conditioning, but I doubt even RF skinner would agree that and kind of Columbine syndrom would be due to violence in video games. Much less be grounds for any kind of legal defense.

Even if every operating system could run any application written on any developement platform, there would still be operating system preferences.

Performance, dependability, Security, Hardware requirements, and even things like boot time will still drive people to prefer certain operating systems over others.

What software an OS runs is generally second in consideration to me, as there are usually equivalent packages to perform the same tasks on other platforms.

Of course, this technology is still in baby land, and if it catches on, it will mature eventually. For now though, I'll stick with playback on larger screens.

If the stories here were a bit more community driven however, I do think we'd see a little less "that was on digg days ago" type of stuff. On a side note, people here probably dislike being moderated into oblivion for little or no reason given, and no meaningful recourse, that may drive some /.ers to digg IMHO.

I think it's also a safe bet to assume that both Microsoft and Sony will have very playable and fun games that load quickly. Not all of their titles will be the of the uber high res, shockingly immersive variety. The only thing that Nintendo is doing is ensuring they cannot compete in that area. While their competitors can easily compete(and win) at their game. The only thing that can save this company's console business is marketing. And good luck competing with Microsoft at that... They've been selling inferior operating systems for years on nothing but marketing. They might as well be throwing in the towel.
