    Well let me say, as I understand the point you have made, viewed from the corporate situation
    this behaviour is damaging the company. It can lead to a negative view about the experienced worker, and when it is possible to his firing.

    Successors have to be installed because if anything happens to the experienced-super-worker(heart attack, stroke, ..) and there is no successor the company is boned and this sometimes means bankrupcy.

    But from what I recognize in my country ( germany) this booby trap is about to change,
    that senior workers are getting replaced by young workers no more.

    That is because in germany we have a lack of high skilled and experienced workers.
    We had small increase of our population over the last 30 years, and there is a mental change in the corporate thinking going on, that experience is good, and old people are not "that" bad ;)

    Thus making it more and more difficult for a company to keep their age average low.

    Sorry it's not about the perfect solution for your problem, but keeping
    things in mind about the new context can improve things.

    These are the lessons I learned from jobs and life either.

    a.) be precise what you are talking about
    - missunderstandings tend to poison the atmosphere at work

    b.) clear missunderstandings as early as you can

    c.) keep in mind that you now have a coworker
    - trust him, he can do things on his own

    d.) keep in touch with him
    - this means you also report to him what you are doing
    "primus inter pares" first within a group of similars,
    you are the leader? dont behave like "the Führer"

    e.) if you recognize anger, missunderstandings etc.. talk about

    f.) keep in mind two programers are two human beings

    g.) give him all the information you have
    - if information is being held away, he would feel "pissed off".

    h.)
    - "smile"
    - behave
    - use "please" and "thankyou"
    - commendation (wisely used)

    g.)
    let him bring some of his ideas in, discuss ideads,
    if commendation comes from your boss, be modest and inform your boss if it was
    your coworkers idea.

    Communicate! The basic need for team work is comminication.

    These are aspects I learned, when followed, it is allready team work, you don't need
    a special conception for team work.

    you have to transfer the heat produced, either you will get a drop in compressorefficiency

    [decompress air]

    when you release preassurized gas through an air regulator, the gas temperature will
    drop down, this is how refrigerators work.
    This air has to be reheated before it is lead into turbines, its done by burning (fossil) fuel.
    Either you would drop the efficiency to a degree where this is not feasible

    The temperature would be so low that you have high equipment costs for the turbines,
    or simply damaged turbines.

    These are the odds, but on the other hand it works,
    there is one plant in germany which I know which is operational since round about 2ys.

    Palm had a stand, it was THE brand for handhelds, they where also licensed by ibm and some else.

    But then Palm made two big misstakes,

    a.) betting on handhelds when smartphones were the trend

    They remained manufacturing the tungsten etc.. pure handhelds which
    in case of the Handspring Visor by a GSM springboard extension,
    this is a way to gain money on the gadget market.

    But as it turned out few people where willing to buy this gadget,
    so Palm s stand was weakend missing a major devellopment.

    b.) PalmSource, Palm, Handspring, ..

    This was the second big misstake they made, starting a by-company and relicensing
    the OS/Software back, and getting into a license mess

    Palm needs to be perceived as one brand, with clear intention and a devellopment target
    with this deal they wrecked their coorporate identity.
    It dragged buisness users to other directions, buisness users fears uncertainity.

    This action in such a situation when they just realized the crisis was there,
    is questionable.

    Palms decline isnt about application quality, the apps on the plattform are excellent,
    they are such easy to use that even my mom is able to use my old treo270 and likes it.

    Those apps do the things they are intended for, one thing I cannot tell about
    Outlook2007, or the hole Office2k7 series apps.

    At the moment I use a treo650 shot on ebay some time ago for a few bucks, and I am a totally
    sattisfied Palm Customers.

    But Palm has to get back on track, as a corrporate with an identity.

    You are caculating with a constant price for electric energy, but as the past years tought all of us, thus would be insane.

    So you should basicly add the inflationary process to your caculations,
    which is citing wikipedia[1] 3.9 %.

    On the other hand the price for primary energy sources like nuclear fuel, natural gas and
    most important coal, will unlikely decrease, they will rise, .

    And one word to the insane costs, when nuclear power plants are built the prices are nearly
    the same, nuclear powerplants (as far as I know from germany) have a return of invest of ~25 years
    after that they "produce" money, convetional power plants ~20 years, with usage of exhaust heat
    perhaps less.

    And while time goes on if a technology is used, it will get cheaper.

    I have to correct some things,

    1.) no voltage regulation

    a.) is bad because the more current you draw from a pv-panel the less voltage you will get thus you cannot charge a battery with
    (your solution is by adding a diode to prevent this)

    so a pv-battery charger and monitor is highly recommend, because lead-acid batteries need to be watched carefully you can ruin them by discharging them to their least.

    b.) pv-cells have no linear characteristic, not keeping this in mind will lead to a lower effeciency, they have a
    MPP - Maximum Power Point[1], the characteristics are mostly supplied with the datasheets,
    also the MPP is given. So using voltage regulation you can draw more power from the cells as you could otherwise.

    This was a judgement on behalf of a law of one of germanys federal states(1)

    this law was made for giving the state agency "Landesverfassungsschutz"(2)  the ability to install such software, this law was ruled unconstitional.

    But it's not the method itself, which was ruled unconstitutional, but the ruling in its details just restricts future federal laws(3).

    The trojan software can now only be installed under the condition a judge decides to do so,
    and this also only on the following conditions

    - threat to human life ( abduction, murder )
    - threat to the federal republic of germany ( terrorism )

    If information and data is gathered containing sensitive private information,
    this data must be delete just in time and shall not be brought to court under any circumstances,
    this includes the possesion of childpornography.

    (1) similar to the US germany consists as a federal system, including 16 states which form the federal republic of germany

    (2) a like homeland security such way for a single state in the federation,
    germany also has a federal agency which coordinates the work of the state agencies

    (3) which are planned by the ministry of internal afairs with it's minister Wolfgang Schaeuble
    "BKA-Gesetz" (BKA similar to the FBI)

    I am sorry for this vague subject, but I can't remember the exact topics or incidents anymore, but there were numerous even mentioned on slashdot.

    But I wanted to show that most of todays security threats
    were first percived hard to be used or totally unthinkable, even minor security problems
    which later were updated to the status of a serious threat, because the first look turned out to be wrong.

    So when devellopers commit themselves to build the most secure OS, and than on the other hand show such no-interest in fixing this topic, or just review the *BSD solution and paste it into the OpenBSD sourcetree with their background, I can only say this behaviour is untrustworthy.

    I think I can remember a similar "discovery" by the same russian scientists,
    it was that over a -180°C cold, spinning, levitating and superconducting disc
    there was anti-gravitiy found .. how they know it was anti-gravity ?

    in the room with the disc, the smoke of their pipes went to the top of room,
    normally russian scientist pipesmoke is contamined with heavymetals like Polonium,
    so it is not normal that their pipe smoke is not directed to the bottom.

    in the rooms above the disc in areas direct above the disc the airpreassure was "significantly" lower than "normal", so antigravity has also a preassure vessel effect and preassure-force-field

    The treatment for fear:
    Beta-blockers are drugs to control blood preasure, they are also used in migrane treatment
    but it also has a fear controlling secondary effect, it is also given to animals
    before slaugther, so the stress hormones don't affect the taste of the flesh.

    It is likely that todays terrorists use these on their "humanbombs" to prevent them from
    acting suspecious and get identified too early, and the most likely cause,
    that they don't fear death.

    Too much fear:
    So these detectors especially in airport areas would create many false alert
    because of people experience stress while travelling or even flight panic,

    within highly controlled security areas the sight of an armed officer
    can cause much stress, even when the traveller has nothing to fear,
    and a situation with unfriendly and harsh security officers,
    would make it much harder to differ.

    So all in all nice tought but there is too much fear to tell terroristic fear or not.

    No while 4000 Pages seem to be much, but when the prosecutors had clear evidence
    they wouldn't waste this much paper, they (she) would pick the pearls out of the
    evidence and make the trail short and bullet-proof, but the 4k Pages seem to be
    part of a process enlonging tactic.

    While the intention is not exposed, to keep the trail in suspense for a long time, this unclear situation would possibly stop others, from deploying similar services in sweden for the next two years (?), so the legislater would has time to make laws which prohibit tpb's actions, in the future.

    New similar services would probably boost the popularity of the pirates,
    and so making it much harder for the legislator, and the ruling parties.

    And holding the most popular pro-pirate people in suspense of an ongoing trail,
    the intention could be to lower their reputation through dirty tricks, within the trail.

    It will be interesting to follow the trail and if the judge(s) will allow those
    dirty tricks, or not.

    1.) you are right electric driven motors are more efficient than gasoline powered ones

    but you make a missconception, it's either the way you define efficiency,
    or better where you apply it and what is in the todays use for generating your AC-Power.

    (in the NY case, the E-Cycles will be charged by "coal",
    that is what I wanted to point out)

    Where does the "Tesla Roadster" get it's electricity ?
    - from the AC-Line from your power plant  (bad)

    ( than you mostly use coal to power your EV )
    and you have to change 300 Wh into 300 / 0.3 [Wh] = 1000 Wh
    0.3 -> 30% efficiency, and well this is normal for coal fired power plants,

    more is possible but it's better to use the common value than using possibly achieveable
    values.

    - from your roof mounted solar panels     (good)

    than you can say nearly CO2-zero, the efficiency nearly doesn't matter

    and there are further losses to look at,
    - transmission
    - gears
    - bearing

    2.) Battery vs. Fuel

    how much does the Battery weigh and how much does an energy equivalent amount
    of gas or diesel weigh,

    energy equivalent means applying the engines efficiency, and not using the raw value.

    3.) "special cars" vs. "common cars"

    The "Tesla Roadster" as any pure electric driven car today is a special car

    a.) limited weight ( it uses special materials )
    b.) limited space  ( it's a fun car )
    c.) limited range  ( limited by driving style,(they say) it's a roadster ;) )

    if you would remove the e-motor and the battery pack by a three/four cylinder
    turbo charged diesel engine, and fill in the amount of fuel you need to reach
    a range similar, it's likely that you could achieve, an efficiency very very
    near to the electric ones, but to be honest not with such an acceleration ;)

    But you will agree when I say

    a.) many people don't have the money to buy a home solar power system

    b.) most electric energy produced and consumed in the U.S. comes from
        coal, nuclear and gas (*)

    so anytime you will have to apply the production efficiency to the consuming
    systems one, so you can now clearly see I left out the raffineries one
    to produce gasoline/diesel :)

    4.) I have a question, "What does your car run off ?"

    5.) if (4.noelectric) -> why not ?

    NOPE NO NO

    1.) 50% efficiency only on combined cycle -> heat + electricity
    without it you get 32% at best operating with high steam temperature and preasure,
    for which it is necessary to use modern and expensive materials.

    2.) NY has a steam conducting system to deliver heat, but the powerplants
    which deliver the heat and electricity to NY are old ( 30+ years ) and
    from a modern point view they are inefficient

    3.) we use coal for generating energy because we have much of it.

    No, No, No and NO.

    There is a difference beetween over-greenish-actions and real "green" actions.

    1.)
    these Motorcycles are not "green", as long as the power to charge them
    is generated by non-green powerplants.

    2.)
    the emission is just placed somewhere outside N.Y., looking at the overall emission
    of NY, these Motorcylces are the minor part.

    3.)
    while it's a good idea(*) to use these E-Cycles in high traffic areas
    it's not a good idea to use them for patrol, because of their limited
    range

    25mph -> Range ~68miles
    65mph -> Range ~ .. not mentioned ?

    they need to be charged to often.

    (*) Electric Systems have a nearly zero-time power-up and are more efficient than
    their gasoline brothers, in short, "good for Stop-And-Go"

    - Email Client (IMAP/POP3)
    - Addressbook
    - lightweight
    - can close all tabs (beautifull and slick)
    - restores sessions faster than firefox
    - Wand (Password manager) == awesome
    - speeddial
    - Bookmarkmanager, it's a mighty tool in contrast to FF
    - abook/bookmark/mail export/import function == very good
    - Widgets (addons)
    - uses Mozilla Pluggins

    These features are built in, and must not be installed manually,
    like you would do with Plugginfox.

    Well and as you can think this post was written within Opera/win2k ;)

    here comes my advise
    Just try it out, and judge.
